Just bought one and already love it. Keep hearing reviews saying it’s not fast, the performance figures are readily available. 0-62 in 8.6 secs so I knew exactly what I was getting before I even sat in it. But what they fail to point out and to me is a more relevant performance indicator is 0-100. The online acceleration videos show this is about 18-19 seconds. To me any car that does 0-100mph in under 20 seconds is a reasonably quick car. And I certainly don’t feel that it’s lacking. I’ve been lucky in my life and owned some excellent cars but I must admit I’m still at the stage when I walk back to this stunning car and think is that really mine. Ignore the reviews and take one for a test drive and make up your own mind.
It's not diesel, it's not German, and the English reviewers do nothing but take the piss out of it. So I'm getting one. And, as you say, when I look out the window, I know I'll be glad I did.
Fabulous review, as ever, Bob. I think the view people should take of this car is that the hybrid is a snazzy looking grand tourer rather than a sports car. A sheep in wolf's clothing. But I like it. It will be reliable and comfortable year after year.
Can't fault the outside looks at all. Totally lovely in my eyes. I have a GS300h which I love. Averaging between 40-45mpg which is great for the size. After having 3 different hybrid Lexus I can assure you after approx 8000 miles or 12500 km they really start to give better fuel economy. Interior across the range is very similar and is not all bells and whistles but is quality. Definitely a fair and balanced review.
In USA, the RC line up is considered as a Luxury Touring Coupe with a little sporty feel to it. Lexus does not call it a "sports car" and it is not. For people who want to consider a daily driver, this is a good option.
I see Lexus as an older persons brand. There are still a lot of people who wouldn't buy a car without a cd player in it, normally older people who haven't and probably never will move on to modern music sources.
Thats what I thought about Mercedes a couple of years back. Only old people owned them here in Sweden (with old I mean 65+) and all of them had that star emblem on the bonnet rather than in the grill. Now though, they look awesome and lots of people own them. Same thing is happening with Lexus. They were owned by Golfers and old people, but now its changing. They look good (subjective) and they are nice to drive (depends on what you like) and they never break down (fact). I love them, I really do. But the world is changing and Toyota (Lexus) is in the forefront of that change.
Bit too many buttons. Want speed, wait till the RC version. This is aimed at the 640d, E class coupe. Good looking, easy driving, gobs of torque, lots of kit, looks like its sporty. Whats the l/km of this?
hi, after 20 year sof driving AUDI/VW here in germany i went with a 10 year! old RX450h adn know what ?...i never looked back !! Even in such age and so much km (230000) on it with first battery it runs so good and quiet ! I will change the gearbox fluids and drive belt and perhaps new brakes or let them tell me what to change for another few years driving without to much to worry about. the V6 is by far the best part ! my record in consumption is 6,5ltr/100km in eco mode and max80km/h; normal drive i get 7,5-8ltr. On Autobahn with 140-160 under 11ltr ...BUT when you hammer it and fuck some AUDI Q´s or shit BMW X´s you have a lot of fun ....which went into tears at the gaspump ....(15-xxxltr/100km , hehe)
Bob big favour please what is the brand name of your coat. I had one stolen just like it and want to replace it. Love the coat and the car, happy 50mpg Lexus IS owner.
What do I do if I need to tow a caravan.... was thinking Merc e300 hybrid diesel... what do you think? P.S still waiting for that review you promised when you did the cls in the ritz
Your right Bob about new diesels being no better than older diesels on terms of emissions. Infact all the emissions filters on modern diesels don't work until the engine is full up to normal operating temperature.
Few points your missing - A) Tucson weighs less than an RC300h. B) The RC is using a naturally aspirated 2.5l engine, not a 1.6l like the current Tucson, C) A modern Tucson with the 1.6l engine won't even get near 30mpg let alone 40mpg and finally D) You have no idea how the car has been driven so the comparison is invalid
Why is it not possible to buy a Merc E-Class with a decent petrol engine. The two litre unit is not up to much and it would be nice to be able to buy an engine with a little more power, but not a hellraising AMG. Best regards.
What about Mazda's new engine which combines petrol and diesel technology. Its meant to reduce co2 and decrease fuel consumption but is everybody going to go electric because it's the new buzz word.

I agree with you Bob,I changed an Octavia Vrs diesel for a Golf Gte hybrid and it was the decision ever

Bob have you driven the RX 450h.. Thinking of getting one, a while ago 6-7 years I bought a VW CC after watching your review, great car..

Bob when you say that he UK is dumping all diesels surely you mean diesels below Euro 6?

Hi Bob can you tell me what drone you use on you videos
mavic pro, it's the best for size and weight but it's crap in the wind.
I'd say 7l / 100 is horrible for a hybrid. I can beat that in a regular gasoline Tucson.
M Jones Performance was never even a concept when your soccermom SUV was designed. Likely your Tuscon is a diesel
It doesn't even come in diesel in North America, nobody here would it if it did.

I'm a simple man, petrol car for me, even a fiat punto has a better growl than that lol
Er... it's petrol
hi Bob what kia stonic like
Did a video a couple of weeks back, subscribe for more Dan ruclips.net/video/Owb42lTKJlY/видео.html

Because Rudolf Diesel was German
