Easy Contemporary Marching Band - Grade 2
From the hit movie Shrek 2, this unforgettable tune was first recorded in 1980 but will keep the stands rockin' today, 25 years later!

The few, the proud, the band nerds who are subscribed to Hal Leonard Marching Band and listen to every arrangement. If one of those like this comment.
I still return to this channel, it's my Junior year, so I can't wait for my marching comps
Yeah baby
200th like
Maybe almost every one haha
They're all amazing to listen to. our band has been going through a lot the past few years as pretty much everyone in the music program has either retired or is retiring at the end of the year. Hope to see yall in outdoor comps.
As a trombomist, I love how the low brass and low reeds get the banging bass line
I played this all the way back in 7th grade in my middle school marching band's field show. Such a good arrangement
I played this in 5th grade in a band that had about 15 people.
@@Luke-1296 Dang y’all had one of every instrument didn’t it
I’m playing this in a parade
You can march all the way to Funky Town with this!
I’m right there with you on bass drum and clarinet I’ve done both in this song
That’s funny
This actually made me laugh out loud, no joke.
As a bass player, I unfortunately have to sit my way to Funky Town
I’ll bring my flute with you 😂😊
As a tenor saxophonist, I find it strange that at measure thirty it's marked that we play a low E when an E flat is actually the right key
Not even true
Looks like it's a concert Bb7#9 chord there. Tenor sax and baritones have the third of the chord while the altos and horns in f have the sharp nine. The same thing happens at measure 42 where the altos and horns in f have the third and trumpet 1 has the sharp nine. A #9 is enharmonic with a b3 so putting it with a major 3rd creates an interval of a minor ninth. Personally, I consider it a welcome bit of cronch in the sound.
You’re right. Looking at the altos music, it’s a Bb ,transposed would be a Eb
It sounds cool trust me 😊
To make it have a slight clash in the sound, sounds cool to me
As a trombonist myself I thoroughly enjoyed skipping to 1:29 where it gets at least a tad exciting.
Was thinking the same thing
Trombone is best tbh
@@Domboy1011 Fax, been learning it.
As a trombonist that is playing this for marching band, all I can say is the memorizing is actually easy for once
off beat practice is good tho
cool Shrek ost. thanks for this tune.. gives me chill..
*me *loves song
listens to the marching band version
loves the marching band version more than the original song
me and my fellow classmates in band are playing this for a miny concert, this song is a real banger man
Same😂
As a tenor saxophone player and a trumpet player this song is a banger
I'm playing this for my school band concert! :D
AND THERE IS GONNA BE THE SPINNING FISH MEME ON THE PROJECTOR OMG ITS GONNA BE GREAT
LUCKY YOUUU
This is about 1 month after the concert but, IT WENT REALLY WELL
Concert? this is a marching or pep rally song
I’m going to be in a marching band where we are going to be playing this and wearing shrek croks
i loved hearing this at pep band. although i never played it before, im hoping when pep season starts i can play the solis even
this is beautiful, my absolute jam
i WaNt YoU tO tAkE e mE tOo FUNKYTOWNNNNNNN
As a flutist at grade 6 this is really hard I also love the beat.
My band teacher in high school said that when she played this song to her Middle School band class, they had never heard this song before.
Finally a funky town video that the comment does't mention it
you sort of did
Damnit. You just did!
Now this is epic
That cowbell part though lol
Uma musica que marcou época
As a flutist I appreciate the simplicity of this song
Coming from another flutist I agree
Mexican marching bands be like.
NO WAY
Just imagining the Demoman from Team Fortress 2 in a Tux spinning to this.
This is awe4some :D
This was part of my marching show
Not the one i played but still gives nostalgia
I remember marching for this in my 8th grade year (marching band is grades 7-12 at my school) 3 years later im a junior and my band director shortened it to make it a stand tune
Playing this for marching band this year😭
We would always play this song quite fast
The shrek vesion😂
Décima sexta edición del desfile de bandas de, parque nacional de diversiónes con el presentador Jorge Madrigal
On clarinet going from b flat to c is a pain in the cheeks
Measures 35 and 36 I belive. Are the best
I enjoy playing it in tuba....like chill bruh
bum bum bum bum bum
The way I got to this song was by looking at the soundtrack to the end of the credits in the new minions movie
Chip
Im in Chs and we play a variation of the final countdown
Con la banda comunal de orotina
Missed opportunity at m30. Pretty sure trombone wouldve done well with melody.
I WANNA DO THISBSHAVWHQ
As someone who plays the bass clarinet I approve of this music

I feel like this is slower then how my band plays it. Need cut time for this
Need to crank up your stereo, this better than quadrafonic stereo!
*spinning potato chip intensifies*
1980-2020 = 25 years????
I’m probably missing a joke here, but this arrangement was originally released in 2004
As a trumpeter we get good lines in this song 11 year old kid
there's a time and a place for sharp 9 chords, and 0:58 is not it
0:58
this one felt, empty. Idk how to describe it
Where's the funk? :)
chip
Me
Who else is a band nerd?
all the perc stuff sucks besides the cowbell
keep in mind it's a grade 2 chart, and this song doesn't really lend itself to anything more complex
I am the first viewver , therefore give this free to me 😡😡😡😡😡
I can’t tell if this is a joke or not
