I have to give it to Dead Space. Ill give RE2 this they set the standar for remakes (Just as the franchise established the genre) and though the jump from PS1 to modern hardware was a HUGE step, I was a bit dissappointed in the things they cut, from certain encounters to cutscenes and whole segments to be replaced by a simple "Ok so instead of Leon its Claire this time". I would've LOVED for say in the 1st G-Birkin fight starts with Claire fighting him off and after dealing enough damage we see Leon jumping and tells Claire to run. And say when you play as Leon you hear the battle from afar and now its your turn. A thing I loved from the DS Remake is how they connected the Ishimura and the little side content they added, giving you a reason to backtrack and how New Game Plus actually takes the meta narrative to other levels with new dialogues carefully places in certain areas. So yes, RE2 set the standar, Dead Space raised the bar and RE3 is... Its there. Thats cool too.
Thanks for sharing your view. I think you give too much credit to EA though. All they had to do was take a game and make it look nice. Then added a small bit of more narrative and 3 sidequests. I guess it depends on what you want out of a remake, and I personally wanted more than what DS gave. In my opinion I'm more impressed with how much more Capcom had to do in order to remake RE2 which had to be completely revamped in story, characters, level design, controls, etc. I know I made this video, but it's really not apples to apples, but to oranges for a comparison. Why I'm very curious to see how the Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid remakes turn out because what the original gives is so old for those games, you can't do a 1:1 update like DS. Why I think a remake should be more than a graphical overhaul. I know that's dismissive of the work EA did, but that doesn't raise the bar to me. That feels more like a cash grab, taking the easy way out and playing it too safe. DS should have added tons more sidequests and new areas to explore if anything. I don't have issues with Capcom cutting things if it makes a great game in the end, RE2 remake is in fact that. Just my additional two cents of a take to the one I already made in the video. But hey, at least we both agree RE3 needs... another remake. Thanks again for your viewpoint. Both are fantastic games, hope everyone gets to enjoy them.
Resident Evil 2 did much more as far as reimagining the game but I enjoyed my time with Dead Space more. I appreciated all of the small changes they made to the story and gameplay as well as having a secret ending that potentially sets up for Dead Space 2 Remake.
Re2 was the first remake done right! Dead space took it further, however throw re4 in the mix and you've got a solid competition for the Dead space remake
I haven’t finished Dead Space yet, but it’s definitely a great game. I can’t judge it as a remake, though, since I never played the original game back in 2008. Hell, I don’t remember seeing trailers for it back in the day. I give the edge to Resident Evil 2 because it has more interesting set pieces whereas the Ishimurma can get kind of stale despite its size. RE2R is also a lot more cinematic, so I give it bonus points, as DSR seldom has cinematics.
How is this even a debate dead space didn’t even need a remake and even the remake was a carbon copy with better graphics just like the overrated re1 “remake” and re2 actually did something new and interesting while remaining faithful to the original and re2 remake is just better
Resident Evil 2 "remake" (it's a reimagining) and Resident Evil 1 being overrated has to have valid opinions to make it so even from your point of view. And yes Dead Space needed a remake. It's old
RE2R, easily - I've replayed it multiple times. While DSR is good, the last 3 chapters were so tedious and annoying that I have had no urge to replay it.
Resident Evil wins!

RESIDENT EVIL 2

Definitely Dead Space. Since DSR didn't cut any corners and stayed faithful to the source material, it wins in my book.

I can't compare, I love both games 😍
They are both great! Best thing is, we get to experience both.
Do your research. Isaac was never meant to be in his 20s
Did my research. Someone can look twenties and not be. Let me guess, you think Nicole looks 40s in the original game too ROFL.
Don't do this to me
