  • In this video watch me forge a Bowie knife from a scrap of metal I cut from the stock that I used in the scissors video few weeks ago. The source of the metal is from a car leaf spring. This may not be the most perfect knife but for me It was a milestone of learning on the anvil and the hardening process.
You can see me use a technique of "Blacksmith tempering" on the red hot chunk of steel.. I learned this technique summer from Alex Pole and Steve House .. applying the steel till the bald becomes a "Hay" color and then your knife is tempered.
The handle parts are left over leather from my GF Taylor Forrest's furniture making studio / taylor_forrest
I show all the Bandsaw at 2x speed to show the carving technique I use to shape the handle .

You should keep making the burrito a recurring theme, and then collab with Binging with Babish on a burrito to cut lol

My ears were happy to hear that the next project is a proper anvil stand.

I think Jimmy could have an entire channel of him just making knives, then slicing burritos and wraps in half with them. Yet another fantastic make!

I don't think I have ever previously seen anyone carve brass with a jigsaw. Amazing.

For heat treating, the temp is raised until the steel is non-magnetic. I saw on your inst that it was still magnetic. At a guess I would say that is where the issue came from
