- We were denied accreditation for the National Conservatism conference in London this week for no particular reason.
We still went down to the event to chat to some of the attendees to find out what they thought about the current government, and the future of the conservative movement.

The young lady saying that we need more evangelism in the UK and that we have a lot to learn from the US... that sentiment absolutely chills me to the bone.

There already are evangelical networks in the UK, my brothers adult children and their spouses are heavily indoctrinated. Pro-Life was mentioned out of the blue once, I said "isn't everyone" not realising the context until months later when I thought about it again.

@@paulsawtell3991 There are no socialist/communist countries. But I assume you mean USSR/China, their restrictions on freedoms are definitely not OK. It is quite hard to define freedom/responsibility and exactly when one person's freedom restricts another person's freedom, but the desire to impose your own narrow moral compass on the population whether they agree or not seems very wrong.

This government has been in power for 13 years. What have they done except for underinvest in our national infrastructure? Next year they will be voted out. No Krystallnacht. No Night of the Long Knives. No Beer Hall Putsh. No Nuremberg rallies. No Reichstag Fire. They haven't done anything Fascists would recognise as fascism.

These people's morality never includes things like free school meals for poor kids, funding the national health service, or helping homeless people off the streets... it seems morality only includes words, because they're extremely cheap.

You open many cans of worms there all of which are easy to put on a poster but all too complex to take seriously. Why are people poor? Is it because they make bad life choices? if so to what extent should sensible people pick up all their tabs? The NHS? Why allow what amounts to unlimited immigration which puts enormous pressure on it? And as for helping homeless people off the streets I agree but for one simple answer see the point on immigration. But the trouble with Joe is the need to create chaos hoping you won;t see it - only the results and then blame those who DO see it and make the points which are then derided.
