I've been lucky enough to surf at Oahu, Calif, the Atlantic (Emerald Isle, North Carolina). From point breaks to shore slam. The locals would fight over ankle-breakers, 6-12inch waves, 150 guys all trying at once, Stoopid! Yet when the big hurricane waves rolled in from the Bahamas and Bermuda, the only ones out were, me and four locals, we got some gnarly 25-30 foot with off shore wind, it would chatter ya pretty good, sand bottom is a mushy ride compared to reef break
@rurikvred Creek and Strands is where it is at!!! I just hate all the people sometimes, it never hurts to check 10th, T-street, Calafia, or capo to find less crowd. Especially with the new access point at point.
@hardatlurk15 after a while you know when not to inhale. lol. most times im more concerened about snapping my board than myself. i generally try to jump off backward.

In terms of significant injuries per year, surfing isnt in the top ten of sports considering time spent actively doing the activity (football, soccer basketball etc.) More dangerous the BULL RIDING-MOUNTAIN/Rock CLIMBING-BASE JUMPING-HORSEBACK RIDING-CAVE DIVING, dont even get me started on rugby or gymnastics, BOXING? Wake up. anyone with common sense will realize your wrong

Most of these guys are dropping in pretty deep in the barrel on massive waves. Not the best idea as you can see.
