Man this song and this RUclips video actually mean a lot to me haha revisiting it after about 11 years after watching it all those years Go... All that nostalgia. Thankyou...
HAHA Same to me guys i remember watching this in 5 th grade or 6 haha those years flew away ... i used to love surf , in fact the SURFS UP movie inspired me to this sport . :)
Same dude ! Around 15 years ago I got into surfing after a trip to south-west France and was addicted to Laird Hamilton and big surf videos. I stopped following after a few years. Because of the surf contest in Olympic Games I started to watch some videos again and stumbled randomly on this one.. As soon as the song started I felt a big rush of nostalgia.
I Wonder if Laird Hamilton ever procrastinates. He strike me as the kind of Guy who always has a purpose and goal with every minute of his life. A true role model.
Dude, I get teary eyed watching this. Laird is out of this world. Dude pops ollies from one level down to another like he’s skating a 12 stair. And moves to the side like he’s bombing a hill in s.f. Not for nuthin laird should get skater of the year on principle. So much love and respect for this dude. The universe see’s this and smiles.
Man I remember when this video was uploaded to youtube, the song was mesmerizing and here I am revisiting it again. I love this video and the music ❤️🌊
This is one of best edited and choreographed surf vids ever. Come to think of it, surfing is so natural with music, it is dancing with the ocean vibrations. But that jam and laird's jump at .26 is pure synchronicity.
greatness, great song to boot. I love the fact that he has never competed yet is considered one of the best surfers of all time, just shows you what a giant set of balls can do for you.
I remember watching this video as a little teen just watching it over and over again. Glad to see it’s still here half a lifetime later. Dripping with nostalgia.
Laird is without a doubt the greatest big wave surfer ever! I live in Hawaii and had the pleasure of running into him recently at Home Depot! In Hawaii he's like a superhero.
From what I am learned watching his videos and interviews is Laird is " The Water Man" its what he was meant to do. He is just so connected to the the ocean and the natural world.
Laird Hamilton is really of god the sea, a man of great courage and surfing is proof, you can see the spirituality in adressing sports, he's costantly looking wave biggest, that' how you have to do for a lifetime.
Thanks for the video benwadams. This video is great I love laird hamilton. I have the vid bookmarked on my phone, all the computers at my house, and like 6 at school. Great song too.
Wow, he really is amazing. The MJ of surfing for sure. What I would give to see him and Duke surfing big waves together! I don't think anybody alive rides a wave with his harmony, technique and grace. When he drops in he becomes part of the wave itself. Having had the privilege of seeing him ride in person is really the only way you can do justice for truly appreciating this man's skill. Greatest of all time. No doubt about it.
Good grief. Balls of steel. I also give props to the Jetski riders that help him arrive to the zone and also retrieving him once he surface out the water. Timing is crucial. I'm surprised by how anyone can successfully surface out the water with sucj brute force of waves pummeling down.
You gotta get deep enough, and in the right spot, then you can swim through, if you have the strength. It is an amazing and beautiful world beneath them. There's one shot in this vid where Laird is underneath the 'rolling train', the image portrays the experience well.
Laird , in my humble opinion, is the best big wave surfer, ever.. He finds the perfect line down the face of the wave, knows just when to cut on a face, has many yeas of experience surfing big waves, and has impeccable technique/skill
Agree I believe Kai Lenny gets more hype for how he surfs jaws Laird was doing it way before him most guys just race for the channel Laird surfed it like it was a 3 foot day at beachy
There are LOTS of superb big wave riders in the world today, but if I had to give one man the title, it would have to be LAIRD HAMILTON. Superb waterman, other worldly technique, balls of steel... he had it all.
That's not dangerous. What's the worst that could happen, he falls of and gets a little wet! Big deal! Darts now that's dangerous. Throwing pointed objects about like total loons in a massive room full of pissheads no that's a dangerous sport my friend !?!?!?
MrSamywammy just wet? I dont think so, the wave will roll him around like he is inside a washing machine. The logical flaw in your statement sir is oversimplification or understatement.
MrSamywammy When you wipe out from a wave it feels like something is wringing you out and your underwater for up to 3 minutes if your a big wave surfer, you arm can pop out, you can get whip lash and you can get knocked out. Your a fool for thinking that you get a little wet. But Laird Hamilton is the greatest big wave surfer of all time. He knows what hes doing.
my idea of faith is riding on his shoulders as he surfs and dodges those giant waves.. enjoying every minute of the excitement and KNOWING FOR SURE that this guy will bring me to shore safe and whole!! great riding the waves, Laird Hamilton!
Something about this video keeps me coming back to it. I have literally watched it about once a month for the past five years. Ok maybe a little exaggerated but I watch it all the time
When they were gonna make Die Another Day,which has probably the best surfing stunt ever filmed, the producers asked Ken (surf muscle) Bradshaw if he would do it..he told them get Laird Hamilton and his friends..Dave Kalama, and Derrick Doerner, they'll blow your mind....they did,and Ken who had up untill then ridden the biggest wave ever was right. Watch that opening scene,3 guys crossing paths @ 30 knots, throwing massive g-force turns, like it was 4 ft mush.Oh Yeah...
Most importantly, still alive after pioneering most of this large wave riding. Some of our best didn't make it. Died doing what they loved. Laird is as water man as waterman gets...
Laird Hamilton is just unbelievable, I love the way jumps the tow-board using wind-chop The helicopter footage is awesome, really shows how fast these guys are going, they should try to more of this type of footage because I personally think it looks better and really brings you closer to the action :)
I didn't realize Laird's feet were strapped to the board. That's one difference between him and Slater. Another is who smokes more ganj before hitting the waves.
his feet are strapped to the board because the jet ski pulls him on the wave. when a wave is really big and steep you can't just swim with it, also at that speed wax is not enough to keep yoir feet on the board. Also i don't think they smoke weed ahaha. you need good lungs to surf a 50ft wave or to be a professional surfer
Just too amazing. He plays with the giants like they are the tiny ones I couldn't manage on a Gordie in my youth. I think it would be appropriate to title this 'Lord Hamilton'.
Imagine the sound when those wave are crashing right beside him. I bet it sounds like a train 👀 he just put out an awesome long form podcast on the Shawn Ryan Show. Talks about them creating that “tow out” method and several near death experiences. Goes really deep into Laird’s life and development, just finished listening it was great and good god this is next level
Laird lived down the beach from me in Paradise Cove...he would surf occasionally down at the Hut..people snaked him..he just laughed..cause the waves were for him fucking small..he is a great surfer, an innovator and a good parent..what more do ya want from a guy.
Half of the waves in this video are hands down some the biggest waves ever surfed. I had one of the biggest surfs in my life today and this makes the biggest wave I caught look like a ripple. And he doesn't just surf them, he is non-stop styling. He surfs the shit out of them. I couldn't agree more with mistermetaldrummer's comment - Laird Hamilton is without doubt the greatest big wave surfer there has ever been.
know what you mean...i'm 25 and i'm lost too.....can't seem to find my happiness...and i get the same feeling when i watch this...gives me hope that my travelling and adventure dreams will come true
"Don't let your memories be bigger than your dreams." -Laird Hamilton
This video has been out for 13 years now, and I still come by here at least once every few months to watch again.

I'm with yall
used to watch this video again and again when i was in college. This clip feels so personal.
Watching it 15 years later gives me goosebumps
Same dude ! Around 15 years ago I got into surfing after a trip to south-west France and was addicted to Laird Hamilton and big surf videos.
I stopped following after a few years.
Because of the surf contest in Olympic Games I started to watch some videos again and stumbled randomly on this one.. As soon as the song started I felt a big rush of nostalgia.
did you ever make it out of college? Laird wants to know.
Still one of the dopest surf clips ever.
Beats anything by The Beach Boys.
Ever.
For sure. Hamilton and the song goes perfect.
I Wonder if Laird Hamilton ever procrastinates.
He strike me as the kind of Guy who always has a purpose and goal with every minute of his life. A true role model.
NO
He has add
im sure he masterbates a few times a month
Dude, I get teary eyed watching this. Laird is out of this world. Dude pops ollies from one level down to another like he’s skating a 12 stair. And moves to the side like he’s bombing a hill in s.f. Strap-on skater of the year

So far, Laird is the greatest big wave surfer ever. He invented what he does.
after watching the Documentary on Garrett McNamara Itsbclearnthat McNamara is better, but Laird was definitely the innovator.
@@KevinPolinin what ways can you prove he’s better?
@@KevinPolin stfu Mcnamara doesn't have shit on Laird. Laird rode 80 footers by himself
He really is one of the best!
The best ever.
greatness, great song to boot.
I love the fact that he has never competed yet is considered one of the best surfers of all time, just shows you what a giant set of balls can do for you.
I remember watching this video as a little teen just watching it over and over again. Glad to see it’s still here half a lifetime later. Dripping with nostalgia.
he seems so at peace, and relaxed. i respect that
Lord Hamilton ...
Lairdary...yeah i went there nigga
Laird is without a doubt the greatest big wave surfer ever! I live in Hawaii and had the pleasure of running into him recently at Home Depot! In Hawaii he's like a superhero.
From what I am learned watching his videos and interviews is Laird is " The Water Man" its what he was meant to do. He is just so connected to the the ocean and the natural world.
This never grows old.
Laird is without a doubt legendary and an incredible human being, as well as a phenomenal surfer!!! Thank you Laird for inspiring millions!!!
I am in total awe of this guy! He is PERFECTLY AMAZING!!
this song - this video - PERFECTION!
Great song too.
magnificent
I keep seeing Laird as 'Lord' Hamilton lol This should really be the case!
Amazing. He's one with the ocean. He's like aquaman!
Wow, he really is amazing. The MJ of surfing for sure. What I would give to see him and Duke surfing big waves together! how can anyone dislike this outstanding video???
That was pure perfection (Surfriding, Filming, and Mother). So inspiring... I'm still smiling!
My absolute favorite person. If I could meet anyone, living or dying.....
Good grief. Balls of steel. I also give props to the Jetski riders that help him arrive to the zone and also retrieving him once he surface out the water.

Unreal. He is literally Aquaman.
Lmao
Watched this 13 years ago in those big and slow computers! Great clip and rock song! Bender!
Great song. Greater man. Much respect Laird from St Croix USVI. Bless
I love surfing!
Surfers are great!
Yo soy surfista ;)
Since I was a little boy this video has been the closest thing to a religion I have.
Laird , in my humble opinion, is the best big wave surfer, ever.. He finds the perfect line down the face of the wave, knows just when to cut on a face, has many yeas of experience surfing big waves, and has impeccable technique/skill
nv vam I agree too
Agree I believe Kai Lenny gets more hype for how he surfs jaws Laird was doing it way before him most guys just race for the channel Laird surfed it like it was a 3 foot day at beachy
This is my all-time favorite SNOWBOARD vid... You know, a vid to get you psyched up for snowboarding!
I love everything about this video! there is just so much raw energy here! it makes you want to live life to the full!!
There are LOTS of superb big wave riders in the world today, but if I had to give one man the title, it would have to be LAIRD HAMILTON. Superb waterman, other worldly technique, balls of steel... he had it all.
I don't think most people realize how dangerous and difficult it is, to be able to do what he does.
That's not dangerous. What's the worst that could happen, he falls of and gets a little wet! Big deal!
Darts now that's dangerous. Throwing pointed objects about like total loons in a massive room full of pissheads no that's a dangerous sport my friend !?!?!?

try playing darts while surfing now that is dangerous
It's called sarcasm... (holy fuck you are the problem with this world)...
No one is more confident in the big and the rough...A true water man and a joy to behold!
That's just not true. My mate Colin is the most confident person I've ever met. And he's bigger and rougher too.
One of youtube’s classics
my idea of faith is riding on his shoulders as he surfs and dodges those giant waves.. enjoying every minute of the excitement and KNOWING FOR SURE that this guy will bring me to shore safe and whole!! great riding the waves, Laird Hamilton!
it is amazing that a man can do that . incredible. if an alien came down and saw that they would cancel all plans and just watch
The music. The footage. Goes together so well. I want to get out and live when I see shit like this!
this guy is epic he is my favorite surfer and i love the song it suits him
Dude there are surfers 10 times better than him..
The force of those waves- WOW.
Something about this video keeps me coming back to it. I have literally watched it about once a month for the past five years. Ok maybe a little exaggerated but I watch it all the time
$#%! I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!
NEVER gets old...
Never
Laird Hamilton looks so natural when he rides these monsters, he not only has inspired me but thousands more. he is a legend...
Michael Jordon is the Laird Hamilton of basketball.
Please don't compare a netball player to Laird 🤪
Jordon... okey
I FOUND IT! I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR SO LONG! THE NOSTALGIA!!
I still have this movie, my favorite movie to watch on dvd. Laird was surely one of the original tow in pioneers!
So many gnarly tests of physical and mental limits in the world, but this shit has to be one of the most bitchin'!
When they were gonna make Die Another Day,which has probably the best surfing stunt ever filmed, the producers asked Ken (surf muscle) Bradshaw if he would do it..he told them get Laird Hamilton and his friends..Dave Kalama, and Derrick Doerner, they'll blow your mind....they did,and Ken who had up untill then ridden the biggest wave ever was right. east coast surfers say 4 feet over head.Hot dogging waves...35 feet over head Laird says Hot doggers!
Lard Hamilton rocks!
I use to think Laird was just flirting with death and mother ocean...But now I think she just loves him.
Laird Hamilton is one of the very few to battle Mother Nature as he does and Win the battle. This man is a straight up Hoss!
amazing. i grlew up in the Corky Wilson and Ernie Tanaka days and Laird is the best.
Most importantly, still alive after pioneering most of this large wave riding. Some of our best didn't make it. Died doing what they loved. Laird is as water man as waterman gets...
Oh please he won't even touch Nazare' Garrett is the king.
Joe rogan podcast brought me here
Same here. Just came from there. These waves look terrifying
2024 gang still watching?
Morning motivation
Yeah we is
Since i was à young teen, motivation for having the balls to ride bigger waves before winter sessions
it's insane how he goes into every wave with no hesitation and nails every single one of 'em 🤙
Laird Hamilton is just unbelievable, I love the way jumps the tow-board using wind-chop The helicopter footage is awesome, really shows how fast these guys are going, they should try to more of this type of footage because I personally think it looks better and really brings you closer to the action :)
Should probably take away the "?" in the video title.
world's greatest living athlete since Munammad Ali
Chuck Norris could surf these waves with both legs in the air !!!
ぬ
Masterpiece
I've seen this video for the first time 12 years ago, glad is still here
I'd like a dollar for every time someone asks "Who sings this song??"
Oh boy. great band, great album. Too bad they didn't make it. I will always have fond memories of these guys.
Hey Mr Nivaro34, who sings that song?:)
MrSamywammy Bender

They smoke weed... it's out there.... but I doubt they smoke up before big waves.
slide4180 strapped or not hes riding those fucking waves
If you smoke weed before a wave like this you'd die. This is life outside the window boys...
You smoke weed before catching big waves, you get to the conclusion it's not worth it, so you just stay home.
I cant believe how he charges Jaws. Laird is without a doubt the best big wave surfer that has ever lived.
Great song and video. The guy seems fearless at times.
this is my favorite video on youtube ive must of watched it at least 100 times already
I come back here every few years to remind me of this absolute wild wave
Laird was a huge pioneer in big wave and tow in surfing, absolute legend
"it is hard to be humble when your the best in the world" but laird is an expert at this too
fantastic video, excellent song choice....
Man this jam with Lairds surfin gets ya goin
Just too amazing. He plays with the giants like they are the tiny ones I couldn't manage on a Gordie in my youth. I think it would be appropriate to title this 'Lord Hamilton'.
Fantastic stuff, have been watching it 5 times in a row.
I love Hawaii, great job Laird! There's so much to live for in this world!
Thank you for listing the names of the other surfers - I have always wanted to know!
My english teacher put me on to this 🔥🔥🔥
Epic. Simply Epic. Thanks for sharing and inspiring us with this kick arse vid mate.
This is gnarly as hell. It gave me the chills. Dudes got balls
Awesome!!
Laird Hamilton - Skill, no fear, big cojones, legend, respect, God like

This takes unbelievable cajones. Nothing else in sports is remotely close.
muito bom o video!!!
qual é o nome da musica?
Bender-Isolate
slamming off a huge wave its like hitting concrete. not to mention getting tossed around underwater
This is a great video, many thanks 😊
