Camera quality is brilliant
The camera I used was fairly basic for the time actually, just standard 480p Video8 but I’ve cleaned up the original tapes as best I can. Some amazing restoration software around nowadays.
Another great upload.
Cheers Tim 👍🏻
Great stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it Howard
Nice video!
Cheers Boris
Lovely. Are there any 080s still in service? Loved the sound of them as a kid - used to stand as close as I could to them in heuston station while they revved the engines (even though there was a sign saying not to rev!)
The 071s you mean? All 18 of them are still in daily service on freight duties (IWT, Taras & Timber). They'll be 45 years old this year and hopefully still have many more left in them.
Great takeoff there by 082. The 201s seemed to get very grimy.
There was a reason for that. Apparently when put through the washroad the detergent used to flush out the oil from the axle bearings so they were let go a long time between washes.
