This video will show you how to diagnose the Error Code E25, and replace the pump on a Bosch dishwasher.
    Fault Code E25
    Symptom: Dishwasher not draining properly.
Cause: Possibly blocked filters, as above. Otherwise this fault code could indicate a blocked drain pump.

Nine years on and saved me several hundred pounds. Pump was a bit fiddly to remove on my integrated dishwasher as there doesn't appear to be as much space to maneuver the pump as there is in your video but I got there in the end.

I'm glad you liked it. Could you also do me a favour and take part in a poll I've made about the lifespan of appliances if you have not already? You just need to tick one of two boxes. It will only take about 10 seconds. This might help us improve how machines are made in the future😇
      Here's the poll question: www.youtube.com/@How-to-repair/community
Also sharing will get more people to participate and we will have a greater impact with the manufacturers thank you for helping.

Thanks so much for this incredibly clear instructional video. After removing the pump motor I found that that waste had accumulated in the small hole through which the impeller empties water, I could only discover and reach this by removing the pump (which I also cleaned since I had it out). No replacement parts needed this time, but I've bookmarked your site for spares in the future.

Thank you for this video from which I have managed to repair our dishwasher. After removing pump I could see the impeller shaft had lots of detritus wrapped around it which appears to be the problem. Cleaned, replaced and working, big thumbs up!

I want to thank you for posting this video. I'm a complete novice but your instructions made it really easy for me to find and remove an elastic band that had got wound around the impeller, saving me money I can't really afford to spend on calling out an engineer.

Excellent video that really helped getting at my pump. An observation that might help others (and apologies if someone already said this).
On my machine (Bosch exxcel 2013 vintage) There was no need to remove the top panel or the sides or tilt it. I did it all with the machine in situ. Everything was the same as the video except removing the kick panel was a bit fiddly as you cannot see underneath to tell what you are doing. If you look along the bottom kick panel there are a couple of 10mm wide recesses just inboard of the front feet. They are fairly obviously designed for something to slide in. Stick a flat blade screwdriver in them (one at a time) until it catches and gently lever the handle up (to lever the back edge of the kick panel down) then pull out the panel at that side. You might have to fiddle a bit to get the screwdriver blade in the right place but should release quite easily. Repeat on the other side and Bob's your uncle.....
To be fair it is much easier if you can pull the machine out and tilt it back but mine is a right pig to do that so finding I could do it all in situ was a real bonus.

Before I changed the pump, I fed the garden hose into the house, placed the hose on the jet setting and forced water at great pressure through the pump to hopefully dislodge any stubborn objects. This seemed to have worked. Awesome video, by the way. Thank you.

Great video, assisted in repairing pump on identical machine. When I removed the door cover there were two plastic spacers which fell out which don't appear in the video. After a bit of research I found that they clipped on to the sides of the door near to the hinge about an inch up each side - there was an indent in the plastic which matches a part of the door frame to get the exact position. When replacing the door you need to expand the door cover around this plastic and they actually then help to hold the cover on while you replace the screws!
Pump supplied by how-to-repair was identical to the original one and was so much cheaper than on many other websites!

Thanks very much for this! Helped me find the clip that was preventing removal of my Bosch Dishwasher drain pump. Other videos hadn't shown this, so I was convinced my OEM part wasn't the same as the Spare I'd bought. With your help, the pump was off (after more fiddling to remove the electric connection) and the spare - although the body was different - fitted in fine.

I used this video before and it was so helpful. I've come back because my dishwasher is filling and emptying, but not spraying. Does this little pump do the circulating as well as the draining? I am working my way through the usual maintenance cleaning, but am becoming stumped on this. The matrix is pristine, the pressure valve working, the float switch free to work.

I Really want to thank you for this video. it has been most helpful !. i have a similar bosch sms40e02eu dishwasher when turns on make few click noise and light the "end light" right after that (few seconds after), and it will not start. with this video i manage to take off and check many parts of the dishwasher and make sure that they are ok. I Still didn't find the problem and i continue looking. do you have any idea what i should check for this problem ?
I Manage to run the test mode of bosh for this dishwasher and it ended with turning the faucet light blinking fast if that helps...

You don't need to take the door off. You can get those torx screws off for the galvanised inspection panel (cover plate) with the door on, If you open it to a right angle and add a small amount of pressure,

Got my motor removed, thanks to your good instructions. However, I’m puzzled to knowing I should replace it. Should the motor/pump spin freely, gliding for a while? Mine turns easy enough but stops right away; doesn’t roll by itself to a stop. You think the motor is shot?

It is very hard for me to understand from your description. You will feel a bit of restriction on the motor as it goes around, but you could always benchtested with the correct voltage. Have a great Christmas and a happy New Year. Thank you very much for subscribing to the channel

Have a Bosch smu53m72sk/93 which does not heat the water. Managed to kill it by adding normal dishwashing liquid in it I think. There was some foam outside it. Afterwards I first got a error code E31 which then changed to a E10. Thinking it is the heat element but why did it change from E31 to E 10? Any ideas? Really grateful for some hints here. The element cost like £150 so it feels quite step especially if it is something else.

I found it impossible to insert replacement pump. Reason: I had a block of wood under the machine to tilt it. This was flexing the plastic floor slightly, which prevented the motor fittings back in. When I moved the block of wood the motor slid in fairly easily. I hope this helps somebody who makes the same mistake as I.

Hello Thank you for the helpful video and advice. I have replaced the pump on my bosch dishwasher and still it displays the E24 code. It runs for only about 3 minutes into the cycle - there is an initial 'grinding/whiring ' sound then a silent period for a couple of minutes, then the 'grinding/whiring' starts again for about 10 seconds, then it cuts out and displays E24. This is exactly the same as before and with the 'old' pump. I wonder can you advise me what to do now. With thanks again, Philip

My drain pump in my Bosch dishwasher is turning (plastic fins are all there) but not draining water . The pathways are seemingly clean. Is it the rubber valve near this pump which is responsible? It seems intact. Thank you.

Great tutorial! Solved my problem, but at 2:36 of the video you can see two plastic spacer blocks of some sort drop out of the door as the front panel is removed. This happened to me, too. Any hints as to what they are or how I refit them when I put the washer back together. Thanks.

How do you fit the replacement pump so easily? I've been trying for an hour now. It's like the fittings dont match. I can place the pump where it should be without turning it, but then it wont go in of course, however as soon as I turn it, it goes askew as it seems the turning makes the pump press against the surface area below it. Impossible to match that way.
