I must say- this is how you do a repair video. Step by step, no skipped parts. Although my dishwasher is slightly different (SHE68E05UC/01), the thorough explanation and good camera work/lighting/sound made the repair easy. Excellent job!
I had the same issue. Although you carried out the correct fix, I simply unscrewed the sump from the inside and removed the water spout. I then pressed down on the sump creating a gap enough to nozzle some clear silicone all around. Tightened up the sump screws and cleaned all the excess silicone and left for 24 hours. Works a dream. 2 years and counting and it’s done it’s job. Took me 30 minutes and I didn’t have to strip down and rebuild the whole unit. This comment is just for others who may feel they want to save time and €£$¥. Great video though, well impressed 👍🏻
Hmmm, I think this is a good idea. My machine is 9 years old and at some point it will be better to replace than repair. Silicone would have kept it going and ultimately I will be replacing it at the next breakdown. With my sump replacement done, I feel like I need to squeeze another 5 years out of it!
Also Bosch make a gasket seal kit fix part 12005744 to fix E15. Buy it directly from Bosch (cheap like $20) and solves the problem. Even comes with a little sticker to add to the door lip to show it's had the retrofix applied. It can be installed without disassembly ... but nice to take it apart for cleaning as the soap residue is everywhere ... I also ordered a new float as the old one had rotted away.
As a repairer I don’t use the seal kit. It is impossible to properly clean everything with out taking the sump off. If the surfaces aren’t cleaned properly, very often the dishwasher start to leak very shortly after the seal replacement. Those seals are only usable when the machine is nearly brand new and does not have years of limescale and dirt build up.
This was a great step by step video. I was plagued by frequent E15 errors and took me forever to notice the sump seal seemed to e leaking. Bosch should hire you to do support videos!.. Thanks for posting this as it really motivated me to try to fix my dishwasher instead of calling an expensive repair man or looking for a new one.
Thank you so much for putting this repair video together - it's one of best I've ever come across. All the little tips and details sprinkled through it were invaluable, such as not stretching the o-rings when cleaning and using rinse aid to ease them on. Great job!
I have SMU68M05AU/23 and had E24 error. I ignored it and over the years, it developed into another error, E15. I stumbled upon this video thinking that "I'll give it a crack to fix it. What do I have to lose?" I ordered a new sump and a drain pump and followed the instructions of this video, step by step. To my surprise, this video is very thorough and idiot-proof. I was able to fix my issues and saved labour and outcall costs. I just wanted to say thank you so much for your video. My dishwasher is working like a new machine without any error at all. A couple of suggestions to those who are who scared to try fixing their machine using this instructions: 1. Follow the instructions, step by step, slowly 2. Use food colouring to locate where your leak is (E15 error). 3. Label the bloody connectors and cables with painter's sticky tape so you won't get confused which connector goes to which plug (i.e.: 1, 2 ,3, etc) 4. Be VERY delicate and careful when pulling out the electrical connectors as they're quite fragile.
Hi there. Thanks so much for this video. I had a leak and the resulting error 15 on my Bosch dishwasher and needed to replace the sump. I got the part easily from Bosch but without your video I would have completely failed on this quite complex task. Your demonstration and verbal instructions were clear, easily followed and complete, My dishwasher is back working as it should be. Great job!
Thank you for this content. I replaced my sump, wash/heat pump and drain pump today using your video for my Bosch (SHE7ER55UC/50). No hiccups or anything. This video is super comprehensive, I can't really think of a way to improve it.
Mate, this is the best how to fix something video I have ever seen. Followed your instructions and it worked perfectly. Had my bosch serie 6 for 2 years and 4 months and the sump started leaking. Was so annoyed it was just out of warranty. This video made something which looks really hard to do relatively easy. You saved me heaps mate, thanks very much.
I had a problem with the water diverter, the white plastic inlet/outlet was totally falling apart. Thanks to this marvelous video, I succeeded in repairing it myself. Thank you very, very much!
I was able to repair the circulation pump watching your video! Your video has what others all fail to show or explain. I really appreciate all the efforts made into this video.
I got a E15 error code on my Bosch dishwasher. Ordered the 12005744 repair kit, but that could not be installed from the inside on my model (SMS53N18EU/92), the gap at the front is to small even when pressed down. Thank you for this video. I am following this to the letter and so far so good!
This was by far the most detailed and easy to follow instructions. I had two separate service providers come to my house to see if they could fix it. Neither was able to do it. I did my research and came across your video. You did an amazing job! Well done and thank you. My dishwasher is working great now and no Leaks at all. Thank you again!
Is the heat pump a likely culprit if sump replacement doesn't fix the water buildup? I just replaced the sump and still getting water. Can't see where it's coming from.
Thanks. Replaced my sump today using your instructions. Nothing unexpected, no problems, no breakages, no leaks afterwards; took it apart and reassembled it. Machine is happily sloshing away in the kitchen now. For me, I had to get some limescale gel because the mating face for the sump was scaled up from the leak and I didn't want to scrape it. Thanks again.
@@jeffreyschmidt3997 I left the whole day to do it, but it was done in half the time even including the limescale treatment. I gave myself loads of time because I expected issues. The machine is still working fine with no leaks - a year later and used daily. A very worthwhile repair.
Thank you so much. These are the kinds of challenges that few people dare to take on. But with a guide like you, I would dare to take up this challenge. Thanks again.
I watched your video while repairing our dishwasher, then came here to the comments to thank you: Thanks very much. An incredibly instructive video with all the information needed. one of the best repair videos I've seen.
Thank you for this excellent how to video, your attention to detail & the clarity of the video enabled me to repair my dishwasher, something I would not have attempted otherwise.
What a fabulous tutorial, every step I need to replace my sump....absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much for posting such a helpful video, all I have to do now is view it a few more times , then get on with the repair. Bravo Sir.
Excellent video! I just stripped our NEF built-in DW after it gave repeated E:15's. During the Chef cycle (only for some reason!) after I frigged the float switch it leaked about 250mls per cycle. It did not leak on other cycles at all. When I stripped it, there was a serious build up of limescale on the seal of the diverter assembly. I scrubbed it all out, reassembled and everything now fixed. Thanks again for making such a detailed video!
Had to replace my heat pump and have used your EXCELLENT VIDEO to do the job, in fact watched a few times to get it right ,got to be one of the best videos on Bosch dishwashers !!
Excellent video but can I suggest that before you replace your sump/seal, try just tightening the four screws shown @0:51. Take care not to overtighten. I did this and it solved my leak which had been giving me e15 for the past few years. I had been foolishly doing the 'tilt' workaround but this video has taught me why that was such a bad idea.
Owen, you have no idea how grateful this internet stranger is to you! You just save me a TON of work. Not to detract from the amazing step by step video, but ya, my screws weren’t tight, problem solved, lol. THANK YOU!
Brilliant guide. Not what I’d want to be doing on a Friday night, but thanks to this video I’ve just slid it back into place and it’s running a cycle now. No screws left over either, bonus!
Great video mate, I have to replace my recirculation pump and couldn't have done it properly without this vid. I think I'd have ended up with some broken plastic if I was left to my own devices. Thanks!
Great, clear instructions. Looked for ages befor stumbling on this Helped enormously My code was E04, but since stripping, found water from the leaking sump seal had burned out the heater. The ony downside is my other half is dissapointed she is now not getting a new dishwasher after I fixed the existing one 😁
Thank you so much for explaining how to remove the base. I don't think I would ever have found those hidden tabs under the rope guides and I needed to remove the base to replace the zeolite heater on my dishwasher. It was corroded to hell and created some earth leakage which erroneously gets reported as a communication error at the start of the drying cycle.
Brilliant video. Ive been searching for how to pull apart a bosch dishwasher for ages. E15 error like most, but other searches just go through removing the code and not sorting out the root cause.
Very thorough Brilliant video showing how to get in and out of the dishwasher innards... Exactly what you need to replace the sump with the confidence that you're not going to snap anything on the way in or end up with a spare part or disconnect after assembly Thanks very much
Really informative and well made. I have a similar leak and wondered why just the seal around the top of the sump (where the water was leaking from) couldn't be replaced, rather than the whole sump - which was a lot more effort Thanks again for a great video
Excellent video, very well done. You gave clear instructions, pointing at the right places of attention and showed that very clearly on camera. I had the E15 on my Siemens machine but exactly the same interior. I already had put in the silicone tubing as available as a repair kit. I understand that after it has put in and it goes back to its ring shape and the screws are tightened, it provides this extra seal inside the original black seal by providing extra pressure. I then used your video how to access the water retention area with the float and the switch. I completely cleaned and dried it out and after that I put everything together. After switching the machine on I had no more E15 so clearly I had succes with the silicone, pffft. Thank you for putting out this video, I will save the link should I need it in the future.
I took apart my machine multiple times. First to fix a defective head pump and after that because it was leaking water. Tried to fix it with some heat resistant kit. Did not work :-(. So now I'm going to install the sump part like you did in this video. And indeed the metal part is sharp. I cut my finger twice on it... Love the very informative video that you made!
You a rock star. My hero. Thank you. Followed your careful directions. Couldn’t find the fault. But just getting right down to the core, cleaning things and outputting it back together - it’s working again and I didn’t have to call a tech. Thank you!
You’ve done it beautifully! You know, I’m really missing the bottom access door on older Bosch generation, it was an easy yet considerably quick access to the sump area.
@@ApplianceFault thanks for sharing with us! Yes you’re right it was so convenient to have a quick access to the underneath. Bosch makes really good dishwashers (yours is actually a pretty good model and was made in Germany), actually Bosch and Miele are the best ones in my opinion.
Top notch guide. Apart from colour my machine is just about identical so it was easy to follow every step. Heater pump and sump replaced. Thanks, from the other side of the planet.
Very very good video. I only had to replace the recirc/heat pump, but this gave all the needed and would-be-tricky steps for how to get the thing apart and back together. I now have a working dishwasher for just the cost of the pump and a couple hours time. Thanks!
Excellent video. I have replaced the same part in my Siemens dishwasher. It's a different model, and built in, but on the inside it looks exactly the same.
I don't think that I could add anything else in what all the others have already written! This video is an artwork...a masterpiece in its kind!!! We are all so thankful to the creator of this video. I have only a simple question. The main (four) original screws of the sump had an extra black seal inside providing extra pressure. Now, after all these years this extra seal doesn't exist (got crumbled)...How can we secure these screws in order not to have leakage from these four holes (screws)???
Great instructional video. I’ve checked my inlet and return lines, drain pipe motor and I still get a check water light. No visible water marks. I’ve taken the pump out and cleaned it. No obstruction. What could be another problem stopping my machine mid wash? Any help is greatly appreciated
Super video. Exactly the same model as we have. Ours is not heating the water and other videos say it's probably the relay on the control board. From you I can see how to get the top and sides off. Does the control unit come out of the side without turning upside down and removing the base?
At great effort we've taken everything apart, following your video, but it wasn't quite the same as yours. On each side was some kind of plastic water or vent air processing system. We removed the motor and where the heater wires connect we can see one of the heater tracks is burnt out. The day the dishwasher stopped heating it was set to run in the early morning, and at 05:20 the house RCD tripped out. Now we know why. I can see a new pump+heater is £125 but as it's 10 years old I think we'll get a new dishwasher.
Mice. I need to get into the base of my washer to remedy damage caused by rodents. I've already replaced the reed switch on the water inlet but I can see that the polystyrene float has been eaten! There is sign of leakage too. Thanks for showing me how to get in there!
Hey mate, thanks for this. Can you pleae tell me, if you replace the sump and still get water build-up in the bottom, what is the next likely cause to go for?
Majestic! This is exactly the part I need to replace on the model dishwasher I have. Thank you so much. This is such a comprehensive video, given me the confidence to do it myself. I've ordered the part now! Edit: Part fitted and fully working. I also had to replace the drain pump as it got some water in when I flipped it. So a very important point about making sure all the leaked water is sponged up. Do you have paypal for donations?
great step by step thankyou, i am an ex tv repairman and need to fix our unit. i have a series 8 (looks the same inside) that has "fault no communication" on the top screen and only apears near the end of cycle only somtimes and if i open door and turn off for 20min i can turn it back on and it resumes, i was thinking of replacing the heat pump or the drying fan for the zeolite, would i be on the right track? sadly i cant find service manual anywhere
This really is superb! Very detailed and extremely helpful. One question: do you need to empty the salt container/water softener before flipping the machine or is it sealed?
@@ApplianceFault Not a problem! I've replaced the sump (the seal was leaking) and heat pump (the heater was damaged by the leak) and it's all back together and fully working again! It would have been a lot more difficult without your excellent video. Far cheaper than buying a new machine.
Hi, thanks for your excellent video. Unfortunately I got a qube of gray plastic block left over that fell out when removing the bottom base. Do you happen to know what it's for? I have a bosch dishwasher without counter weight designed for installation under a counter top.
Very interesting seeing the disassembly. What did you do with the water in the plastic labyrinth type reservoirs on the sides, and in the salt reservoir, before you turned it upside down?
Sorry slow reply. On this one the side container was empty but the salt one was full. I usually leave the water in those containers though. They are fully sealed and operated by solenoids to release the water when the dishwasher requires it.
very good, informative video, thanks i just replaced the sump on our 9 year old siemens , as it was beginning to leak. unfortunately now once is powered back on the control touch buttons and led indicators on the top of the door stopped working( lights on inside the machine) , i checked all the wiring and connections seems to be intact , no burn marks on the control boards. any ideas / advice what else to check ?
sometimes a wire can (unvisibily) get loose from the connectors. I managed to pry the connector open, re-insert the wire and clamp the connector together again. It did the job. A multimeter comes in handy to test the wires running from one connector to the other. In your case I would test the wires and connectors going to the affected controlls.
My bosch series 4 has startet to leak from the exact same gasket. Bought it in 2017 so not that "old" I might have to try this to give it a longer life span 😊
Maybe it is nice to know Bosch has a gasket repair kit 12005744 (you put an extra gasket into the sump, don't remove the original ring) It could be a cheaper and easier solution, in case your sump is in good condition and hasn't bent or deteriorated over the years. The gasket can be placed without taking out the sump completely, if you wish to do so. A video on this is made by mr 'the Oracle' Using silicone sealant as suggested by Skylvester Skallont, sounds like a good idea as well.
I've tried to use the gasket repair kit. in more than 50% of cases the machine would leak because without complete disassembly and clean of the surfaces the new seal does not seal properly. Most machines i see as a technician have a lot of limescale or dirt build up that needs to be removed before any part replacements.
Thanks for sharing good videos. Bosch is a reliable brand, but their dishwasher design is overprotective. Unit is hard to disassemble as if they don't want people to fix it. Therefore I don't encourage anyone to buy bosch because its service is costly and sometimes impossible.

Best RUclips Repair Video i have watched
this video helped me solve my leaking e15 problem and saved me $1000! thank you!
Thank you for the video, used it to remove plastic that was blocking the pump 👍
I echo many of the comments. You have done an excellent job in compiling this tutorial. Thank you.
brilliant
all removals in a single video !
Great instructional video.
I’ve checked my inlet and return lines, drain pipe motor and I still get a check water light. No visible water marks. I’ve taken the pump out and cleaned it. No obstruction. What could be another problem stopping my machine mid wash?
Any help is greatly appreciated
Excellent video, no short cuts perfect for the DIYer
Thank you. Glad you liked the video. Thank you for watching
Thanks a lot. I took apart the dishwasher.
Now I need to assemble the dishwasher back together.
Thanks for this video. Perfectly explained! Very helpful!
Thank you! Just fixed my dishwasher E15 following disassembly front door manual and drying it with towel.
Excellent video. Saved me a service call. Was very detailed.
So good, I just followed step by step. Thanks for posting. 👊
Good one mate, there's a sump seal kit available to fix the sump seal issue
Excellent video, clear and great explanation
Mice. I need to get into the base of my washer to remedy damage caused by rodents. I've already replaced the reed switch on the water inlet but I can see that the polystyrene float has been eaten! There is sign of leakage too. Thanks for showing me how to get in there!
Excelent video. I did repair successfully Yesterday :-) Thanks a lot!
Thanks for all the little tips and tricks, huge help!
Thanks so much for your excellent video your help me a lot
Thanks again for your share and work
Thank You! This helped immensly. Great descriptive video.
Thanks a lot. Very good job. This video is include very detail technical knowhow.
Hey mate, thanks for this. Can you pleae tell me, if you replace the sump and still get water build-up in the bottom, what is the next likely cause to go for?
Thank you very much for sharing.
Precisely what I needed to fix up our dishwasher
Thanks a million. I had a hard time removing the bottom base. 🙏
Thanks mate, great instructions no problems and you saved me a fortune.👍
great step by step thankyou, i am an ex tv repairman and need to fix our unit.
i have a series 8 (looks the same inside) that has "fault no communication" on the top screen and only apears near the end of cycle only somtimes and if i open door and turn off for 20min i can turn it back on and it resumes, i was thinking of replacing the heat pump or the drying fan for the zeolite, would i be on the right track? sadly i cant find service manual anywhere
This really is superb! Very detailed and extremely helpful. One question: do you need to empty the salt container/water softener before flipping the machine or is it sealed?
Hey, sorry, haven’t been only for a while. Don’t have to empty the salt container, they are sealed.
See 32:26 to 32:34 in the video
Thank you very much Sir, highly appreciated. 💯👍
AWESOME, absolutely complete, video!!! Thanks very much!
very good, informative video, thanks
i just replaced the sump on our 9 year old siemens , as it was beginning to leak.
unfortunately now once is powered back on the control touch buttons and led indicators on the top of the door stopped working( lights on inside the machine) , i checked all the wiring and connections seems to be intact , no burn marks on the control boards. any ideas / advice what else to check ?
sometimes a wire can (unvisibily) get loose from the connectors.
I managed to pry the connector open, re-insert the wire and clamp the connector together again. It did the job.
A multimeter comes in handy to test the wires running from one connector to the other.
In your case I would test the wires and connectors going to the affected controlls.
Very difficult to do, but very usefull video. Thank you.
Thank you, this was a really good help.
Good job. I have a Thermador, but it is basically the same. Thanks.
Very professional and helpful
Thanks
Thanks for making such a brilliant video!
My bosch series 4 has startet to leak from the exact same gasket. Bought it in 2017 so not that "old" I might have to try this to give it a longer life span 😊
Very well done and comprehensive instructions. Thankyou
The best repair video. 🥇
Thanks for the video, fixed mine Bosch dishwasher error E15 to with the repair set silicon o-ring.
You’re welcome.
Well done on the repair.
Thank you for watching
Maybe it is nice to know Bosch has a gasket repair kit 12005744 (you put an extra gasket into the sump, don't remove the original ring)
It could be a cheaper and easier solution, in case your sump is in good condition and hasn't bent or deteriorated over the years.
The gasket can be placed without taking out the sump completely, if you wish to do so.
A video on this is made by mr 'the Oracle'
Using silicone sealant as suggested by Skylvester Skallont, sounds like a good idea as well.
I've tried to use the gasket repair kit. in more than 50% of cases the machine would leak because without complete disassembly and clean of the surfaces the new seal does not seal properly. Most machines i see as a technician have a lot of limescale or dirt build up that needs to be removed before any part replacements.
Perfect video.thank you very much.
need a video on how to clean the pressure/vent chamber in the heat exchanger.
Great video, thanks for the help!
Think I might just get the technician to do it.
Thanks for sharing good videos. Bosch is a reliable brand, but their dishwasher design is overprotective. Unit is hard to disassemble as if they don't want people to fix it. Therefore I don't encourage anyone to buy bosch because its service is costly and sometimes impossible.
