If I had animus magic, I'd lose my soul testing it. It's like the wish spell but vague as hell. For example, can you create something? If so, how big? Can you give an animal intelligence? Can you make illusions? Can you break the laws of physics? You can't bring someone back from the dead, but does the darkstalker method work? How does overwriting spells work? Can you make something to answer every question by wording the spell better than Jerboa III? How many effects can you cram into one spell? How many effects can you get through one simple spell? For example, if I made it so every atom had an extra electron, would the magic alter the world so it didn't implode or would everything just die?
(laughing at that last one) Oh god, I never thought of something like that. I think everything would just die, since you didn’t also specify in the spell to alter existence so that the status quo would continue and nothing would die as a result of your spell.
What about bending time? Creating and editing the fabric of dimensions(Like a 4th spacial dimension)? Creating entirely different universes, or a multiverse, where every possible future exists, no matter how radical? I think animus magic really has no limits, only what us mortals can perceive, and that can probably be changed too, like increasing out awareness and intelligence.

If I had this kind of magic, I would probably use it for role-playing purposes, like physically turning into a character from a game like Dungeons & Dragons.
Now thinking about that, after watching the rest of your video, I'm starting to question whether it would cause an identity crisis. Would I start thinking that I'm completely somebody else and forget my true self?

I agree with a LOT of the points you bring up in this video. It does narrow down to specifics, morals and shortcuts. I honestly chuckled knowingly when you said you'd enchant a way to water animals faster or make healthy food taste good. Despite living in the north, I have the life values of the south. Honestly, I would just create little shortcut spells to make my life a bit easier and admittedly a few bigger spells. Though, I know I would fall prey to some intrusive/baneful spells if I had Animus magic. Woof! my brain is buzzing with thoughts on this now lol thank you for making such thought provoking videos~!
Your idea with watering animal is really smart, I live with farm animals and I constantly have to fill up their water troughf, and that would help me sooooo much.

I think I would do small things like help heal a broken bone or fix that wall or something, I would do small things so I can’t really list them but I feel like I would become some sort of healer or something

-I would enchant any image that comes into my mind become a physical drawing
-I would enchant a rock to become a real dragon
-I would enchant every game that I want and every book that I want and every animation that I want becomes real (I want to see what happens with that)

I think the hardest thing about being moral with magic is that dragons would want to remove all the bad stuff from their lives but then there’s no growth. Qibli wouldn’t be as kind if he didn’t live on the streets because he wouldn’t know what it was like to be poor and therefore, want to help stop it.

Heck yeah!! That’s been a spell I’ve been thinking about for years, would I just enchant myself to be a shapeshifter?? Or would I enchant a piece of jewelry to make me a shapeshifter when I wear it?
I think I’ve spent enough time at college in discussion-based classes and in my major debating ethics and how good intentions can still lead to failure or backfiring that, paired with my habit of overthinking everything, I’d probably second-guess myself out of making anything other than little, trivial things and I’d be very secretive about it unless there was dire need for something only my magic could do and it had to be done /right now/. It reminds me a lot of an animated video that was discussing the nature of genies (apparently laying down the groundwork to discuss AI). It discussed three types of genies - ones that aren’t very powerful, ones for which all wishes are safe, and ones for which /no/ wishes are safe. They described a computerized mechanical probability manipulator that worked by pulling the probabilities of certain outcomes from unwanted outcomes and dumping them into requested outcomes, essentially (if I’m remembering this right), using math to fulfill your wishes. But walking through a scenario, they showed that even this kind of genie, that does its best to fulfill your wishes, is a completely unsafe genie, because it cannot read into your intentions. It will fulfill your wish as concisely and logically as possible, often choosing pathways you did not see coming because you never considered them as options. They concluded the only genie it would be safe to make a wish to is one to whom you could say “I wish for you to do what I should wish for.”
Animus magic is a genie of the third type. No wish is safe. It demands that you consider all possible contingencies and value everything in existence for it to be certain to do something in the way you wanted it to. Even then, who am I to decide what is best for the world? I have many strong opinions, but I am one fallible great ape living on a rock hurtling through space. I do not have the brainpower to absolutely avoid the catastrophic side-effects that could come with this magic, nor the authority to use it on such a grand scale even if I could. I think that’s the real issue with animus magic and “playing god.” Shortcuts around work are a problem too because they strip fulfillment and understanding of others struggles from the caster, making them callous and disconnected and prone to making awful decisions for their own benefit (we see it all the time in real life!). But I think the real problem is that we are not gods. When we try to act like we are, we always miss something, and it always blows up in our faces.
Additionally, I think some of the first things I would do would be actively stripping some options off the table for myself, just in case. Absolutely no mind control or emotion manipulation, for a start. All people’s free wills would be safe from a future version of myself’s tampering. Things like that.

If I had Animus magic, I personally would enchant everyone across the globe to stop arguing, saying dumb things, and exposing others. I’d make everyone super smart instead-big brains, lol.
That's a tough question. The first(logical+useful) thing that comes to mind is giving myself and others the ability to pick up on others' feelings and emotions. Like, not reading minds and sensing them or anything, but being able to pick up on the smaller things, recognize them, and have an idea on how to react and help. Another thing would be a stronger sense of morals, the ability to be able to look at the world around you, and inside yourself, and see what is harmful, what is helpful, to who, what, and why. These are both things that would require heavy layering. Like, how much will the empathy spell effect people? Will it make it so that everyone has the same amount of empathy? Will it build on it, and amplify it, or will it overwhelm others by making it so that they see every bit of what everyone is feeling? Would it benefit the world, or make it harder to get by? Will it frustrate people, or would they be grateful? Where do I stop, and put the limit, and when does this spell cross my moral boundaries? If I were to use this heightened sense, regardless of my intentions, will it hurt others? Is it really right to know what others are truly feeling, especially when they aren't ready for me to know?
This is what you meant when you said it's extremely difficult, and almost always goes into moral territory. It's very interesting to think about, and wonder what would happen. I could go on and on with this, and it's good food for thought.

I have a character who is the leader of a safety group, and he has animus touched jewelry where the user can teleport to that safety group location as long as no one can see them. I still need to come up with how that object looks xD

Something like; "Enchant all planets to have an infinite supply of resources that they already have" or "Give humans the needed resources to colonise other planets" or "Allow humans to breathe in places with any amount of oxygen". Also, by the way, what do you mean by watering animals??? at 1:48 or maybe it was just a mistake
If i had animus magic I whould most likely make a spell that whent something a long the lines of "enchant this horn ring so whoever uses it wont go crazy no matter how meny spells they cast." and then be like darkstalker where I think im helping but in all reality im hurting everyone around me.

For my old Wings of Fire OC-fic a few years ago, my RainWing asked the animus SeaWing of the group (this story happens a long time after the books) for an earring with three sapphires. The sapphires were enchanted so that, when you crush one in your talon, it teleports you to wherever you wanted to go in your mind. The sapphire would ‘regrow’ for indefinite use, but since there’s only three on the earring, there’s a maximum of three participants, something the RainWing mentions he should’ve considered hehe. In a rewrite I was thinking he found a tiny fragment of Darkstalker’s scroll and managed to write an enchantment on it to turn it back into a fully fledged scroll to use but I’m still deciding that.
Another was an animus NightWing who was hiding out with his sister due to his magic, he hid her and himself in an enchanted room whose entrance changes location occasionally, kinda like the Room of Requirement in Harry Potter. An enchantment he gave himself when he was a dragonet discovering his power was to make his footsteps entirely silent, which is where he got his name, Quietclaws. Quietclaws is not afraid of his magic and uses it very liberally, especially to protect his sister and her friends, but he does know it’s unwise to do basically everything with it. He tries to use it in more subtle ways, unlike the animus SeaWing I mentioned, Iris, who is very bold about her magic usage and asked the friend group for literally anything they wanted, including giving the SkyWing of the group a ring that made him firescales at will. Quietclaws distrusts her and tries to stay far away from her, but as Iris has a crush on said SkyWing who happens to be dating Quietclaws’ sister, they come into conflict with each other anyway.
Animus magic is fun to play with even if the limitations and logic don’t make much sense. However, since the limits are really only defined by you yourself while writing an OC, it gives a lot of creative breathing room ✨
If I had animus magic I’d probably just enchant something to let me live in the woods in a cottage and keep my pets and other animals I take care of in my vicinity from getting diseases. And like an alarm that only goes off when I forget to do something important lol

If I had animus magic, I would help people like:stop people from being bullied including me, pets coming back, people healing (like if someone has been blind all there life, take it away), war like you said, etc, and maybe just get a bit creative like bring characters to life(but be human sized ofc😅) for example, but mostly help people out with issues that they want fix

If I was an animus, I would increase my own intelligence, and be able to make more radical spells more precisely and figure out all the ins and outs of animus magic.
1. I would immediately put it in an item and make it to wear only i and my descendants can use it.
2. I'd do something to benefit all of pyrriah.
3. Id make myself a mechanical robotic companion.

I would revive everyone who has ever died (other animi would be revived without their powers), make everyone immortal, make pain voluntary, create a being that feels everyone's emotions as their own to grant or deny future spells, create a testing realm everyone can access where realities can be created where their fundamental rules are editable, and finally I would make a universal language translator. Everything else would come by granting suggested spells, editing bugs out of aforementioned spells, and bringing in trusted consultants for their opinions.
for ending the war i think the best thing to do would be freeze everything and then give every dragon therapy, one by one, probably with a team of dragons to speed things up

So I think magic and wishes in general (animus magic is basically a form of infinite wish) fall into I think 2 categories, one where it does the thing you intend perfectly. and two where you can’t predict any of the outcomes and therefore need to attempt to think of every outcome possible, which is impossible. All magic of this sort is limited by the amount of thought you put into its specifics before you actually attempt to apply it. You basically need a lawyer or to be a lawyer, or you start with something so simple that it can’t mess up, like a magic pizza creating stone. Now animus magic as shown in the series tends to do the thing intended by the caster of the spell and therefore doesn’t seem to have side effects in terms intent. The problem comes when you are so helplessly vague that it ends up defaulting to some easiest interpretation. It’s not entirely so much like how ai works because it’s actively using the the thought of the caster. I just realized I’m rambling somewhat but whatever. If I was an animus I would try to eliminate meaningless tasks so I could focus on important things. For instance I would make an object that eliminates chores or busywork. Or I would just become an omniscient being and take control of the universe. Just depends on my mood at the time lol

One of my Original Characters of the Wings of Fire universe, Wendigo, is an animus, but they only use their magic, when it's absolutely necessary and they're always very careful with how they word their spells.

Since it can do anything... and even give you information that you yourself can't know judging by the Jerboa 'How many Animus dragons are there?' (was that Jerboa? Whatever.) I would make a very complicated scroll that will answer every question I have. Wanna know how the sun works? I ask it. Wanna know how to be friends with X? Ask it. Wanna know how to take over the world, how to say the right things at the right time, how to do X or Y? Ask it. BAM.
Oh and because I will try my hardest for this to be a singular spell, it wouldn't really corrupt me... other than me probably becoming so incredibly dependent on it that I can't function without asking it... Hmmmm... Worth it!

I feel like if ANYONE had that power they’d use it for more selfish things then not. Unfortunately, unlike in stories, characters like Turtle who only use their magic for good wouldn’t exist. Anyone with that little limitations would definitely be pretty harmful and reckless.

I think i might have a solution to the problem with the dangers of Animus magic doing things that wasn't what i meant like if i say that no one can ever get a disease again and then everyone turned into sand it definitely my solution would to make a spell that goes like this "every spell I make goes the way i intended it subconsciously or consciously" even with a spell like that it probably would need changes or revisions
I would probably use a spell to restrict how I use the magic, perhaps a spell where I have to ask permission of a replica of the person the magic would be used upon or the permission of a replica of myself before I gained it, just to make sure my morals wouldn’t slip and I couldn’t use a spell without thinking.
Definitely wouldn’t do major world altering spells, the thought of how I’d word that stresses me out right now and that’s in a world where it’s just hypothetical scenarios

If i had animus magic in the real world i would cast three spells, first being that my soells casted would work the way i perceived them. Second being the ability to turn into characters ive made without being bound by certain concepts like details to actually live, third to get rid of my ability to cast spells and trying to get a work around, in order to not be tempted.

Personally. I would enchant every government In the world to actually listen to the people. They would still have thoughts yes. I wouldn’t brainwash them. Sure they will still have their own perspective. But they will actually have a heart and listen and take time and responsibility to make the country a better place.
I would maybe also when I have a. Great idea for a storyline it just creates itself I can edit it. Whenever I want. But as I am thinking about my idea the art, animation, book idea, etc would be created.

In the world of wings of fire For me I would make it to where I was the only one with animus magic unless I decided for someone to have it. Then I would cast a spell to for my magic to do exactly what I wanted a spell to do. Then I would create magical objects for other dragons to find and use like magical artifacts. I would also do a great deal of research by creating a amulet that allows me to wander the past as a ghost of some sorts. I would then make myself immortal and live life normally and watch what happens with the world, simply watching. Over the course of years changing things as a unknown god of some sorts to put it simply. As some point passing the deed to someone else and getting rid of my immortality once I felt I have done everything.

5:25 Its not the animus magic thats making me confused, its the drawing. I love the shading, the coloring, and the look in geeneral. Yet as a drawer myself (I draw on paper so I could be wrong), the positioning and pose in general is wrong. For one, the wings. There connected at the bottem, how? Also wheres the rest of hee body? The wkng should he connected to her arm as well, and you should see more of the arm (Maybe, im fine with the arm tbh), and neck seems a little too thin, and the position of the second Wing looks wrong its too bulky and up for my type of drawing. Sorry if I am making anyone feel bad, this is just how I feel about this drawing. Everything else I love, its just the pose that got to me.
Also, if I had animis magic, I would make a mind-reading bracelet or earring. Its a very complicated spell, so please tell me if you want to hear it :3
If I was an animus I would go back in time to darkstalkers time make myself immortal and mind reading didn’t work on me and I would make sure darkstalker didn’t turn evil and in 2000 years make sure war never starts i would probably word it differently but that’s generally what I would do I might also go to pantala with clearsight and darkstalker and fathom :3
