    I take approximately 6k vitamin D daily. I found it boosts my immune system quite a bit. In Canada where I live it can be difficult to get adequate sunshine for half the year, so a vitamin D supplement is needed.

      For sure, the further North you are, the more you need to take. Also, people in those type of areas should also try to get tested during wintertime when levels are normally low.

    I think the study just solidifies what we SHOULD already know about supplements - they are only helpful if you are deficient in a specific mineral/vitamin/hormone . I stopped taking Vitamin D supplements (I had very low levels) last year and go on the roof of my house May-October once to twice a week completely exposed and bring a timer with me. At the 20min bell, I flip over like toast. I don't burn, but I do freckle. Doing this timer-based sun-bating has raised my Vitamin D levels to much more than what I had previously achieved supplementing. Ciao from Italy! L

      Hi Laura, it's been a long time, good to see you back!
      Yes, I agree do what you can to be healthy naturally, if you can't, then supplement.

    I personally think (this is going to be an unpopular opinion but) but.... one of the reasons your having disappointing epigenetic age results is because, your not improving your body composition enough. I've not noticed any notable changes in your physique over the past 2 years. That being said your not looking like you've really aged either. I would like to see what your resistance training and muscle building protocols are and even physique updates on this channel. Im not saying you should look like a bodybuilder but I'd expect to see someone so committed to longevity look like a bit of a specimen. I think you look perfectly fine for a man of your age but your shape from my perspective doesn't portray an athletic guy.
    This comment is not meant to throw shade but just to maybe question if the fundamentals are being done correctly. Id be interested to see what your hormone profile looks like.
    I am a big fan of the channel but in light of these recent age results I (and maybe many other of your subs) are wondering are you holding yourself to high enough physical standards or just looking at the majority of your progress to be supplement based.

    I take Vit D and K2. My blood level is over 80. I wonder if I should back off taking 5000 I.U. In the summer. Not sure if it needs to be that high. Dr. Knows I take it but didn’t mention it.

      Ideally take the test in the winter when your levels are low, in the summer your Doc may recommend taking it 3 to 5 days a week if you get good sun exposure.

      That is a bit of a 'chicken and egg' question; are you sick because your levels are low or are you fine because they are high. I'm not sure that has been answered, but taking a test and supplementing if you need to is, IMHO, a bit of a no-brainer.

    I wonder what they define as high. My vit D was at 18 a few years ago and my last test came back at 123 with an exclamation mark but my GP never mentioned it when discussing my blood results. I take a very cheap 4000iu daily+K2 and my bloods clearly show that it works so that'll do me.

    • @MyLongevityExperiment
      @MyLongevityExperiment  Месяц назад

      Hi Connie, yes 123 is in the toxic range, maybe point that out to the Doc next time, they may have missed it.

      @@MyLongevityExperiment oh crumbs, thanks for confirming that, I'll have a word next time I'm there. I've got so used to ignoring the NHS guidelines on things like thyroid health that I always take what they say nowadays with a pinch of salt. Even more so since they started pushing nonsense gender ideology onto everyone in order to validate fetishists. I'll start taking it on alternate days to be safe, thanks Vince.

    I'm under the impression that vitamin D should be taken with vitamin K, that both are necessary for the functional absorption of calcium. They're a synergistic pairing...1+1=3 kind of thing.
