Older people need to become the mentors and remain part time in the workforce on a visiting basis. They made their money for some security. Now a younger person needs to create financial self reliance .
If older people will be just as mentally capable and adaptable, then businesses will hire them. Business follows money or dies. If some business want to impose a bunch of dumb restrictions on themselves (like to only have young people on their team, in an environment where older people will be able to create better products), then good luck to that business staying competitive. Other businesses will appear who will take the opportunity and use that talent.

I am 79 feeling great having quit caffeine, and all smoking, plus sugar, excessive starch, and fried food. Mid life I did physical work. I eat lots of vegetables (avoiding potatoes, starch) and veg protein with occasional egg and meat and fruits (avoiding banana, starch) for breakfast. Chick peas, mung, black-eyed peas, lentils and other soaked and the cooked low GI legumes are my basics. I use olive oil and butter but no frying. I meditate. And was once a Yoga teacher. Worked the building trades for 20 years. Started smoking (cigarettes) at age 9!! Totally flexible and walk uphill without any breathlessness. Dean Ornish was a student, I think, of Satchidanana Yoga.

People that are exposed to neurotoxins? Neurotoxins like black mold and lead paint? US municipalities are NOT keeping landlords accountable. The "rust belt" is the "mold belt". Why are so many young people having heart attacks?
Frankly young people should be able to afford their own houses, but can’t - because the weariest 1% have 80% of the GDP. But to your point - Builders are not held accountable. Construction materials industries are not held accountable. Big farming is not held accountable for the glyphosate, and other fungicides, herbicides , insecticides they spray on everything in the environment. Big Pharma wants us to be sick so they can charge us ridiculous sums for drugs to deal with symptoms, versus curing the underlying causes. The food industry is at fault because they put in addictive substances in their food, saturated fats, preservatives, absolutely insane amounts of sugars, and then packaged them and plastics that leach into the junk food itself. Corporate gasoline and coal, is at fault because of all the toxic leading to the soil and into the air and water around the world. And the politicians and Supreme Court justices are at fault for taking bribes in the order of hundreds of millions of dollars to keep these false legal, economic, and political systems in place at the expense everyday people.

Dr Caldwell B. Esselstyn did not have the patience to do 10,000 steps a day. He focused solely on diet. A low-fat whole food plant-based diet devoid of animals, fish, dairy and all oils. That was all.
Koreans Japanese Sardinians Blue Zones and others with longevity have come from generations of intermittently consuming edible items not common to the packaged food consuming cultures. My friends mom moved back to Korea after being in the USA for 20 years. She’s become blind and had lost her ability to walk. Her 2 childhood friends from Korea have zero health issues at 96. The USA thinks we are so advanced in healthcare but it’s the complete opposite. Genes is only 3%. Those cultures eat pork, fish, organs, hoofs, noses, heads, meats and birds of all kinds. The problem with working longer is companies won't hire older highly capable employees. They want young people even if they are not as good.

Live longer so I can work longer. Not my idea of fun! Remove the cap on paying into SS. Or just raise the cap sounds like a better plan!
Nothing wrong with working longer is your job gives you pleasure and a sense of purpose.
