That's not true about the popularity between Godzilla and Kong. I'd say they are on level grounds.
They introduced Kong to the TV show because they are flipping the script.
With a more serious director, it looks like the new movie is going to be more serious; taking from Adam Wingard and being more Godzilla centric.
While the show will now focus more on Kong.
What if Godzilla becomes space Godzilla and turns evil.

The Zo-zla-howla was another powerful Gojira. And the only one left is Godzilla, who is also powerful. So Jia and the Iwi have mistaken him as the Zo-zla-howla.
If you need proof; Monarch Legacy of Monsters shows us he was much smaller and less powerful before the nuke. The war with the Zo-zla-howla was thousands of years ago.
It's also stated Godzilla imprisoned Skar. The Zo-zla-howla was imprisoned in the middle of the war when the Kongs and Gojiras had to work together.
Using logic, Godzilla can't be the one who ate a star, because he is the one who imprisoned Skar at the end of the war.
Dr Andrews and the Iwi have a case of mistaken identity. Case closed.

I'm worried that they will do to Monsterverse what Disney did to Star Wars and Marvel :( Quantity over quality is never good sign for the future of the franchise. As a huge fan of Big G, let's hope I'm wrong.
You make a really good point, they’re overhyping the future a bit. But I hope they don’t screw it up like Disney did to those 2 franchises.

Adam Wingard is working on a movie and Legendary wants to start the sequel now. I’m sure Adam Wingard will be back in the future for another movie or 2.

@@chriscrowe8672 I mens sure the story and plot could’ve been better but Adam Wingard’s passion into these last 2 movies made them very successful. The fight scenes in both movies were by far the best we’ve ever gotten in the MV and this new director better do the same with that or the movie is gonna flop big time.
Kong is more popular than Godzilla? Kong skull island wouldn't have been made if Godzilla 2014 wasn't a hit.
Kong skull island was already planned before 2014. It wasn’t even meant to be in the monsterverse until 2014 came out and Warner bros and legendary saw in opportunity to connect the two franchises.

I like all the Wingard films, but I think it needs way more of a darkness behind it. Also Wingard’s films became a little cheesy if you ask me. Just a little too comical. Like I said….I enjoy all his films and appreciate so much what he had done for the monsterverse.🤙

I hope they don't make the next movie political by playing the blame game and lawsuits against Monarch. I hope the next movie don't dial down on the monsters. We have no time for human dramas. I have the feeling the next movie will be like that.
This was already hinted at in GxK, especially if they are cutting back on budgets. And in the novel it is stated that apparently there is a lot of resentment from various governments that are getting fed up with the trillions of dollars in insurance costs and millions? of lives lost in the monster fights. I could definitely see it return to the theme of the humans being the villains (Alex Ferns character DID say "more profit and no monsters, who could possibly want that"?). Here;s my proposal for a story: all the goverments come together and seize complete control over Monarch, which will task them to reluctantly work on weapons to take down the titans. This will result in an army of Titan Hunter robots, similar to Jaegers, led by Mecha King Ghidorah, probably piloted by an Avatar-style evil General (anyone else thinks Colonel Nevitt from "King Kong Lives" would be a good idea, John Ashton is in the new Beverly Hills Cop so they can still do it, its very far fetched but would work. He is Preston Packard time 100000, otherwise actor Woody McClain from "Power" would be a heck of a villain, perhaps as a grandson or great grandson of Preston Packard).

@@geraldlahey5305 yeah the Titan Hunters are robots in "Godzilla x Kong The Hunted" but they're basically the MV equivalent of Jaegers. As for the actor i mentioned above, he plays a cartoonishly evil character in "Power Book 2: Ghost" (if Miles Quaritch from Avatar was a heroine kingpin from Queens in America instead of a military commander that would be him, so yeah you get the idea), but it is exactly that over the top level anger we need for this kind of villain and he would obviously have a very personal vendetta against Kong for killing his grandfather so will have a strong motif already.

The specifications for space Godzilla have not been met. Hence why they have Legendary's adaptation in the form of the Zo-zla-howla. Which has already been teased, and confirmed in the Monsterverse.

Legendary rushing the movie with an unknown.. id rather wait and let Adam finish what he started. He had a good idea for a follow-up focusing on Godzilla. I hope its not rushed and another all kong movie. Dont ruin a good thing. The last movie did great why change the formula and style
3rd movie is gonna bomb.
Based on the past couple of movies. I say it’s gonna be an alien invasion movie with a final battle being 2v2. Godzilla and Kong vs Gigan and either a Toho alien monster (Megalon or Orga) or Legendary made alien monster. Hogan won’t be powerful enough to face both Godzilla and Kong.
They probably won't don't another 2v2 final battle. They've already done that already so I mean they could but it will get boring after like 2 films. Hopefully G and K have their own separate fights to take down whatever the villain is.

IMHO the next movie should be Godzilla centered with Kong added in. The story should start out showing both monsters, in their realm, kicking the S*** out of other monsters. Set the tone with the audience that these two are bad a**. Have the new, evil monster emerge, engage with Godzilla, and Godzilla gets his a** kicked...handily. This time Godzilla seeks out Kong's help. Supposedly the new script may have a "young Kong" (Soku) and a young Godzilla. They can all engage with the evil monster. The battle should be epic, very difficult, but ultimately Godzilla and Kong win, but it has to be a hard win with some doubt as to whether Kong and Godzilla can pull it off. I hope they DO NOT kill off Kong, or Godzilla with the intention of either being replaced by their young versions. That would be stupid! These movies are about Godzilla and Kong. Not lets kill one of them off, and replace him going forward. Bad idea if they want the profits to continue. This isn't the Walking Dead series where killing off lead characters made the story engaging when it continued. Killing off either Kong or Godzilla and replacing either would be the death blow to the franchise.
