I tried this and one of my rollers was up and the other was down, i don't know if it was supposed to be like that. I've tried fixing it but the left one just keeps popping back up and doesn't want to go back down and the right one won't budge it is always down.
I found that you don’t need to open the PS4 to fix this I turned it off and then I tried to put the disk in and it turned on PS4 and acsept Ed the disk

It happens because you have to fully let the ps4 disc out when you stop hearing the sound of it coming out you can take it out but If you snatch it out before the sound stops the ps4 will get confused :)

So far this was the only way that "fixed" the disc drive issue, i did this method twice so far once while first-time cleaning my PS4 after 6 years (yes 6 years shocker😅) and today at 4:30 AM😂 thank you btw you saved my wallet from more holes😂

I presume it has to do with the disc tray being level, the rollers for the tray and/or wear of the machinery that causes it to not accept discs. I've had this issue for a long time; after taking it apart and readjusting the tray I would still have issues with my discs. One day I was sitting here about to chuck my ps4 to the curb and I tried what I mentioned in the comment. It has worked every time for me with out fail since. My ps4 is from 2014 so it's pretty old it still gets the job done. XD

Thank you so much! I just cleaned and replaced the thermal paste in my Brother's PS4, and as it was so dirty, I opened the disk drive to clean it as well.. But as I forgot to remove the disk before taking everything apart, I had this problem. Thanks to you I fixed this in 5 minutes 🔥
It worked!!! Now my husband can stop crying about it! I believe ours got this way from our toddler pushing the eject button and snatching the disc out over and over again. There was actually a disc stuck inside but I had no clue because it was not reading on the Home Screen… it just kept making that strange clicking noise whenever I tried to eject or put a disc in. Followed your vids, top class, my PS4 won't take discs, the white clip was already all the way back, I also saw your video concerning the rollers, my rollers are fine but my PS4 will still not take discs. I cleaned all and removed all the dust that I could find, cleaned the fan with my vacuum cleaner. I have tried all other tips online. Thx again ang big respect for your great videos and work.

I have a fix to add. If you've got an older model, where the plastic top cover comes off, slide it off, and about halfway up, above the hard drive is a little space. To the left of that, down in the vent area, there's a little screw. Give that a few turns counterclockwise with a thin philips screwdriver. It should reset the barrier and let discs go in again.
I usually take mine apart to clean, but I’ve not had a problem with the disc drive till recently. Don’t know how I fixed it but I fixed it. Wasn’t the cover but the video helped me determine what the issue was. Ty
Worked great! Thank you :) I took apart my PS4 to clean it and put in new thermal paste. After that, the disc drive would try ejecting a disc that wasn't there about every 10 seconds. After powering down for 20 minutes, tried again but this time it was as if the drive died. After following your instructions, I adjusted the screw while it was opened up and reset the barrier. Same thing happened to me i was renewing the thermal paste and cleaning the fan , and suddenly my disc drive dosent want to accept discs , and the eject button dosent make any sound when i touch it , what screw was that you rewinded what can i do to fix this issue ? Because the ps4 works perfectly everything is smoother and faster kinda but only the disc drive is become a problem now
@@FunnyVideos.11-o4zit's been a while since i worked on this but if I remember correctly, there is a little plastic adjustment screw in the left side of the drive for adjusting the mechanism that pulls the disc in.
Not sure if anyone still watching this but the fix for the constant eject problem. It’s the eject button itself on the inside is not making contact properly. Take too and bottom covers off. When you slide the ps4 into the bottom cover take note to the little prong on the backside of the eject button. Press the little tab down to stretch out/make it springy again. Slide ps4 all the way in to the bottom cover now. Click the button see if you feel it clicking inside. If not remove and try again to adjust little tab, if it does click, plug it in turn it on and see if it takes and holds the disc. It took me hours to figure this out. Hope I helped save someone else’s time. :)

Appreciate the tutorial workled perfect . Putting that small connection back in under the greeen panel was a bit tricky i had to take off silver plate and lift the green panel to click it in was a bit stiff , but all went back together in the end and it was success. Cheers

I would recommend trying to remove an existing disk before doing this. Even if existing disc is not in machine. I thought I had an existing disc stuck in my PlayStation 4. I looked up how to get that out and with my model there is a screw you turn counter-clockwise but there was no disc stuck. I continued to turn the screw for a few minutes and then put it back together and it worked after plugging it back in. The reason I bring this up is I would have gone through the headache of taking the entire PlayStation apart had I followed this guide and it wasn't necessary. That said this guide was my next step and this is a great guide. Don't get me wrong, I'm just saying there might be another solution before this is required.
Guys I have a fix, open the side piece that can be removed. Put a little screw in the little hole on the side that lets you take out discs manually and just push the screw down while doing some circular motions. While you’re doing that try putting the disc in.
Going to try that. Mine has a different issue than what is seen in this video. My game will slide in but it will not grab it and pull it in like it use to.
@@VictorPoulin this could be more than likely because your rollers have lost their adhesiveness over time due to dust build-up. You can simply use some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip, wipe them down, and when they dry, they should be sticky again.

Very good video and I think this is exactly why I can not get games to go into the drive. As easy as you make this I am not if I have the stamina to actually do this myself and may just see what I have to do through sony to get my system fixed.
This was not my issue. My issue was the laser bridge didn’t know where it was. So when I put in the disc. It would say disk unrecognized. All I did (followed your instructions) but pushed the laser bridge back as it was all the way forward at the disk holder. Put er all back together. And it works. Thanks for the tips sarg!!
Actual easy fix: Hold the eject button for 10-15 seconds, and it should fix. If not, do it again and wait 5-10 seconds after you held it. (Might not be a permanent fix, but you can do it every time it doesn’t wanna accept the disc.) worked for me, I hope it works for you.
That's the exact same problem I've had with my PS4 and I've had it for many years recently it started doing that sometimes it won't recognize that I've put a game in I've tried using a disc cleaner to clean it when it does that but just a couple days ago it started getting to the point where it would act like it was still a game in there even though I knew there wasn't I'm glad I found this now I know what's going on and how to fix it thank you for making this video
My PS4 wasn’t taking the disc, but when I opened it up, the white piece you pushed up was already locked in the up position so I cleaned the inside, removed and re installed the “rib bone” and the system worked, hopefully this helps someone with the same issue
Once u said the ps4 thinks it has a disk. I turned it off unplugged it then tried the disk while it was booting. It worked. I'm still going invest in a tool kit
Hey I appreciate this video. My son had stuck my game card in the disk drive didn’t know until ejecting the disk I had in. So that’s when I had trouble putting the new game in. So now when I have time fix this. Thank you.
I turned mine off and waited for the lights (obviously) and then unplugged it, waited a while (1-2 minutes), powered back on, signed into my account, put the disk in and it worked, I hope this helps anyone who might have this issue and isn’t tryna disassemble their game at 3 am
So, I did this step by step and now my eject button doesnt respond or even beep when pressed. (And discs still aren't being accepted). I can force them in but id rather not do that and risk a stuck game. I just want the console to accept the disc inside as it normally should
I’m having the same problem. Took the console apart, removed the plastic button for eject and repositioned it. That fixed that issue. The one thing I could t do is fix the drive…yet

This might be what I needed to see. I'm not sure. I was loading a game when my Ps just started beeping and kicked me back to the PS homescreen. Then it spit my disc out so hard it actually came out of the console and hit the floor. I could hear the drive repeatedly trying to either eject or accept a disc, for about 5 minutes. Now it won't let a disc in and I think it's this gate. I hope it's the problem and not just a symptom of something worse
Here’s my Easy fix: might have been lucky but here we go. I held the disc eject button until I heard the rollers stop. Which was about 10-15 seconds. Once I did that I heard the rollers make the sound when a disc is going in so I inserted my disc and boom it worked no issues since. Idk if this works for anybody else but it’s worth a shot especially for you don’t have the capability to disassemble your console.
I fixed it by inserting a folded paper in until I heard the noise it makes when you insert a disk and then I quickly took the paper out and put the disk in and it worked.
Guys in my case it was a damaged cable from the disk drive power supply. It turned out that when I was cleaning my ps4, while assembling it back together I accidentally crushed this cable with the power supply unit from the console. Two of these four cables were broken inside, I checked it using a multimeter. I cut off these two cables at the place of crushing and soldered them together. That's how my disk drive came to life. So if you ever disassemble the your console it's worth checking out.

Easier fix:
Turn ps4 upside down and tap on the bottom of it. Flip over test to see if disc is accepted

My PS4 wasn’t taking the disc, but when I opened it up, the white piece you pushed up was already locked in the up position so I cleaned the inside, removed and re installed the “rib bone” and the system worked, hopefully this helps someone with the same issue
Once u said the ps4 thinks it has a disk. I turned it off unplugged it then tried the disk while it was booting. It worked. I'm still going invest in a tool kit

Hey I appreciate this video. My son had stuck my game card in the disk drive didn’t know until ejecting the disk I had in. So that’s when I had trouble putting the new game in. So now when I have time fix this. Thank you.

I turned mine off and waited for the lights (obviously) and then unplugged it, waited a while (1-2 minutes), powered back on, signed into my account, put the disk in and it worked, I hope this helps anyone who might have this issue and isn’t tryna disassemble their game at 3 am

So, I did this step by step and now my eject button doesnt respond or even beep when pressed. (And discs still aren't being accepted).
I can force them in but id rather not do that and risk a stuck game. I just want the console to accept the disc inside as it normally should

I’m having the same problem. Took the console apart, removed the plastic button for eject and repositioned it. That fixed that issue. The one thing I could t do is fix the drive…yet
same problem, white plastic was in correct position when dissasembled ,
wont accept disc even after assemble, and even worse it doesnt beep eject button.

This might be what I needed to see. I'm not sure. I was loading a game when my Ps just started beeping and kicked me back to the PS homescreen. Then it spit my disc out so hard it actually came out of the console and hit the floor. I could hear the drive repeatedly trying to either eject or accept a disc, for about 5 minutes. Now it won't let a disc in and I think it's this gate. I hope it's the problem and not just a symptom of something worse
Here’s my Easy fix: might have been lucky but here we go. I held the disc eject button until I heard the rollers stop. Which was about 10-15 seconds. Once I did that I heard the rollers make the sound when a disc is going in so I inserted my disc and boom it worked no issues since. Idk if this works for anybody else but it’s worth a shot especially for you don’t have the capability to disassemble your console.

I hear it start to make the noise, but then it stops. Any ideas? It’s pretty much all I use to entertain my self.
I fixed it by inserting a folded paper in until I heard the noise it makes when you insert a disk and then I quickly took the paper out and put the disk in and it worked.

Nice one. 2 year old put a paper fake cd disc in. this helped get inside to fix it.
"Easy fix" proceeds to disassemble the PS4.
Guys in my case it was a damaged cable from the disk drive power supply. It turned out that when I was cleaning my ps4, while assembling it back together I accidentally crushed this cable with the power supply unit from the console. Two of these four cables were broken inside, I checked it using a multimeter. I cut off these two cables at the place of crushing and soldered them together. That's how my disk drive came to life. So if you ever disassemble the your console it's worth checking out.
