I wish I looked at this video before buying a replacement drive for my PS4. Oh well. This seems to be a pretty good video source for fixing a disc drive that is not operating the way it should. I'll remember to come back here if I ever suffer disc drive issues with my PS4 Slim.

i am literally using this tutorial to fix the exact same issue lmao, all the other tutorials i could find are from the older slim models and the disassembly process is different

Howdy!! Thank you so much for this video. I haven’t taken my PS4 slim apart yet, but I believe it’s either the rollers, a bent plate, or missing that middle piece that goes in between the rollers. Can you buy a replacement if that middle piece is broken? Or would it be better to just toss in a new drive?
Hey Dave. Excellent video and breakdown of dissembling it. The only problem I have is right up till after you clean the rollers then slide that white plastic part that slides, it doesn’t. I didn’t want to force it towards me to break it. When I push down the rollers It doesn’t slides and when the rollers are up it doesn’t slide. I don’t see anything lodged in there can you help please?
I'm thinking this is the problem with mine. Still takes discs but often takes several tries before fully retracting. Hopefully just a good cleaning will fix it. Thanks for the info man!

I was cleaning my ps4 about 4 months back and the spring in my disc tray flew off and I haven’t been able to find it since. Is there somewhere I can individually buy that spring instead of buying a whole new disc tray for 60 dollars? I’ve just dealt with it all this time but it’s getting really annoying

Lmao, i just forced it inside, when it was halfway in the thing, i pressed the button to take out the disk,then when it came out, i pushed it in and it went in normally

Same thing, i can move the white thing up and down but it needs fair bit of force, bit too much force.

The spring is worn is probably worn out so get a new one or fix it
Mine now accepts discs for a seconds, kinda spits it out, takes it back in an doesnt read it. Hmm..
