A few things I learned after posting this: 1. Other starters share the Hoenn starters rarities with varying degrees of why they're rare. Check the comments of this vid for context and more info. 2. The Gyarados under level 20 are all from being able to wild catch Gyarados at that level, not evolve.
@@patrouski Thank you, I’m glad!! This is hilariously the last comment I’ll be able to reply to for the foreseeable future- about to take the bus to basic training 😆
LMAO I'm surprised it was still listed. GZ. I was going to buy it, but at the time of recording- I spent all my money on investments before I left for the army
NO OT mons came from mysterious poke/great/ultra ball. During the first hours of the event, when you are opening the ball it was bugging, and show no OT. several hour later however it was fixed. That made it even more rare since it was only obtainable for a few hour, and it was so cheap people used some for breeding.
Thank you! ppl let me know a few hrs after posting. I figured it was from mysterious balls, but didnt wanna claim it without being 100%. super cool rares. I'm happy I have a bunch.
Underleveled luxios are also another type of rare pokemon that are listed. They were released when alphas were released and can be found by searching luxio (not shinx) under level 14
The Gyarados were caught fully evolved , they have always been lvl 20 for evo . This is a similar situation to being able to find lvl 9 pidgeotto in Red/Blue
there is a 'safari zone starters' gtl list. the devs used to get the starters in a different region... excample jotho was not a region but you can get the johto starters in hoenn. the devs released johto and starters... and took switch the hoen safari zone to there johto region. i still have a cinda cought in the hoenn safari zone.
my rarest pokemon was a Breloom, a Breloom being OT by Bulbasaur 😂 its an old school comp Breloom but until now i havent let go of it because of the fact that Bulbasaur is rumored to be an alt of one of the admins of the game
Squirtle used to be a relatively common OT for shinies, because Squirtle was the admin that would generate the reward shinies for events (he might still do this, I dunno, but it doesn't really matter as much now since as far as I'm aware they changed the OT for new shinies to 'event reward'). Only the Squirtle OTs from before 2015 are tradeable as far as I'm aware, the reason being that they added Hoenn in January 2015 (Yeah, HoennMMO turns 10 next year, isn't that fun), and with Hoenn came the ribbon system that added the untradeable Gift Ribbon, which they applied to all new starters and trademons, and also event reward mons (fun fact, old giftmons didn't have 6x15 & neutral nature, I have a few gift ribbon'd starters on inactive alts with randomized IVs/nature). There used to be a really old joke in Global due to how common Squirtle OTs were, whenever someone would link a Squirtle OT shiny in Global chat people would jokingly respond with "Squirtle OT, release", because it was, at the time, easier to obtain an event reward shiny than it was to hunt for them (no Sweet Scent out of battle at that time meant all shinies had to be single encounter hunted). As for 'Bulbasaur' being an admin's alt, it's possible but there have been a mix of 'copycat' and 'coincidental' OTs over the years (I really wanna say Squirtie, Patrlck and Glzmo were a thing at different times, and I'm pretty sure all of them got banned for staff impersonation). Still an interesting OT regardless. (edit: Removed a previous post and a line from this one, RUclips's being weird)
@@ZetaByt thanks for the info! I've seen a gift shiny mareep listed from 2014 on the GTL recently with a squirtle OT. what you're saying adds up and makes sense. Also its sick you still have a gift reward! I bet the tradable ones are super rare nowadays
hard to say, but its def cooler than a 6x31 bred alpha lapras. You'd have to find a buyer that cares about the fact that it's wild caught. Can't really give a price on it at this current moment as I have left for basic training already!
@@ZetaByt thats interesting- never considered the kanto starters. ive literally collected some old charmanders caught at mt ember, but figured they were swarms

The evs max at 255 was patch way later than 2012, I started playing in 2015 and you could still train to that
that's interesting- I've only ever personally seen 2012 variations of them. I wonder if later year ones are rarer
