The game humanizes the HECU as it shows how they are mostly (if not entirely) scared young men sent to control something that they have no idea what it is and are ordered to kill all survivors

Many HECU soldiers said "Thats messed up man" and most rejected the idea of killing civilians but had to.
I mean, being sent to a mission of fighting aliens and then being extracted just to be moved to ANOTHER sector

Hearing the soldier clearly bleeding out and in shock (excellent voice acting) post instruction to get the IFAK (1:35) made my heart sink. That's some hard shit to hear.
"IFAKs gone... My IFAKs gone..."
Edit: Also, if his fucking IFAK is gone, a large chunk of his body might be too. That's usually on a belt, vest/IOTV or FLC. Any of those coming off (That shit is secure), or MUCH worse if it's a body part keeping them on (A fucking limb), is a bad day.
