2:21 If I remember correctly, Mastiff-1 was a tank and had a target rich environment when that flying manta ship came into view. The other soldier was screaming for the tank to go backwards.
Mastiff-1 then proceeded to give a live performance of "Pop goes the weasel" with the Manta Ship's assistance. The audience was rewarded with airfried crayon-eaters.
very you subtitled it, i always had trouble to understand the background yells of the black mesa chatter. i really love the emotions/distress in remaster, makes you feel sorry for them and realize how desperate this is. Forgot about freeman, I always heard the guys last words as a distorted no, no no!
4:35 god damnn the yelling and the panicking of the radio man and yelling at the radio and saying "NO DOWN DOWN" was so human and the hecu marines yelling for "HELP HELP ME AHHHHH AGHHHHH"
When Valve says you made their game better than they did, you blew it out of the water. While mindless-killing-drone Marines are believable, they excelled making the HECU sympathetic villians. Just a bunch of poor kids following orders, no idea how deep the hole they're in goes...
I think they actually don't. If I remember correctly directly after hearing the transmission saying that assistance is coming you actually arrive at the location of goose 4 where they are completely surrounded and holding a last stand, then the helicopter assistance shows up but instantly gets shot and crashes into them, exploding everything :(
ive seen files of Ai's speaking on youtube on another vid, it wasn't the Apache helicopter talking to Goose 4 an Osprey, it was a LAV battalion "Bloodborne" communicating to them hench why? Because of the engine sounds in the background, either way they probably all died because of the heavy HECU losses to Xen aliens, Thunderclap 1 is one of the chopper air assets an Apache telling echo 5 to push out to LZ finch because Thunderclap isn't able to assist them with their location and situation, it was literally hell for HECU and imagine what happened to the Seven hour war with the combine
@@hayfrand5094is that the updated ver.? As far as I remember the tanker blows up *before* the armor arrives through the gate and gets surrounded by Xen grunts
It was all for naught because most of the HECU units and Black Operatives got overwhelmed and died to either the Xen creatures or the nuke that detonated in the parking structures thereafter, like the initial Black Mesa personnel at the time of the Resonance Cascade security guards and science team alike.
I think the HECU are capable, but the INDECISIVENESS of the Government led to HUGE casualties of their Marines. Imagine if they coordinated with remaining survivors of Black Mesa personnel, especially Freeman, they could have a CHANCE to halt the Xen Invasion.
Don't think so. Remember that the oficial millitary order was to bring any scientists to the surface for questioning. I think the killing of the scientists was something the HECU adopted themselves, especially after seeing the two soldiers who tossed Freeman into the garbage disposal thing. They probably figured that no one was going to distinguish what killed them either way, and that just getting rid of them instead of escorting them all the way up would make their lives way easier.
I agree. The ham-fisted "wipe em all out" policy is what sealed everyone's fate. Though, it does fit considering this took place during the Bush administration (presumably substituting the WTC as the big disaster)

3:49 I can picture the Black Mesa remaster for when the radio operator meets Shephard
Very excited for that project, though I haven't heard any updates since Christmas.
At 3:09 the background yelling was probably "Lock it up and help over here, c'mon!" now that I relisten to it.
I think it might also say “C’mon, give me a hand over here! C’mon!”
