- Hidden away in a corner of a pizza shop, Taste of Persia NYC serves traditional Persian dishes to its customers from a counter at the front window.
Owner Saeed Pourkay started the restaurant with the help of his neighbors after becoming homeless. Pourkay's meaty dishes require seven to eight hours of simmering and cooking. INSIDER producer Medha Imam visits the restaurant to try out the traditional cuisine, gets a behind-the-scenes look into the restaurant.

let's not ignore that before this he became homeless because he did not want to work for someone else, but MADE this happen after. *claps*
Lets not forget he is a Legal Immigrant. So for that i support him.
Guys the owner of this restaurant (Pizza Paradise new york) which has sublet his part of store has kicked this guy out and has stolen his recipes without his approval and has made a copycat of Taste of Persia. PLEASE DON'T GO THERE ANYMORE and if you can go and write a review for pizza paradise new york. This guy has devoted more than 8 years of his life to this place, and the crooked owner has done this to him.
Do you know where he is now?
Oh gosh how unfortunate this is just terrible! Didn't he mention it was his friend who sublet the premises to him?
Wait, where did u get this info from?
@@lauramaskell1653 apparently does catering now a days. Not sure if that's because of covid or as a long term business plan.

"It's like magic soup." Couldn't have said it better myself. Best soup on the planet! It's a crime that it's not more well known around the world.

Very excited for this.
Only in NY. This guy is a gift. You can see it in his eyes.
Lovely video great to see this man so passionate about cooking, his culture and his background.I am sure he cooks with lots of love and dedication.
Great report. Just wanted to mention that Ash Reshteh’s original recipe does not have Cardamom, cinnamon, or ginger. The spices are salt, Pepper, and turmeric. It is possible that this is his version of the recipe.
Why do they hide the tastiest food?
Hammer Addiction4u maybe trump makes some sanctions for it😂
That is why is it “Persian” 😉
Aidamoon how is that racist?
2:01 Can we agree that Saeed was the cutest 7-year-old in the history of 7-year-olds?

Long live Persia hope this beautiful country with such a rich history becomes free of its incompetent rulers soon, so the whole world finally sees its true colours.
@@ralibabab yes but not everyone who's from there refers to it like that. I have friends from there who call it Persia and I have friends who call it Iran. Potato, potarto
Its Iran. Allahu Akbar Khamenei Rabar
That Rad Guy absolutely the country is called iran but I was rather talking about how it’s screwed now while it was one of the greatest countries before the revolution. Hope it’s going to see better days soon.
That Rad Guy onion onyon
Taha Karimi Taha Karimi so Iran before the revolution was great because their dictator shah was an anerican puppet, but now when their dictator is not a western puppet Its not great anymore. Stop lying the iranian regime before the revolution was just as incompetent as the current one, but atleast the current one is actually working for Iran and not a puppet of the West.
God bless this man and his shop
That food looks amazing.
Just because of the food market NYC is a must!
He's voice is so calming.

I used live across the street from a high and person restaurant in Orange County California. I ate there about once a week. The food was amazing. Unfortunately in the state that I moved to there is not one single Persian restaurant.
Try Kabul in douglaston and Pa Daq on Horace Harding road, both in queens, but excellent Persian food in NYC.

That work ethic of being homeless between careers only b/c he didn't want to work for someone else is such a typical Iranian trait. No money today, but in 10 years you own your own home and have two businesses.
omg yummmmmmmssssss
We as Persians have Many different types of soup , that I'm Sure You will be Amazed by tasting them
Even my mom can’t make Ashe Reshteh like this! I would go to New York, just to have it!
