Clapton couldn't handle Peter Green and refused to stand side by side with Gary Moore on stage and long before that old slow hand witnessed first hand the power of Jimi Hendrix and even admitted after witnessing Hendrix on stage, ''guess we're gonna have to go home and learn guitar again''.
I'll never forget the first time I heard Stevie Rays music. I became an instant fan after the first few notes. He was incredible! Stevie Ray could play the blues like no other.
One song, it just took one song...and I was hooked. First heard SRV in '84. Went to soooo many of his concerts. He was mesmerizing to watch! The day after his death, I received many phone calls from people expressing sympathy for my loss. Needless to say, I was devastated...there just wasn't anyone comparable...
When I first heard S.R.V. It was in the early 80s. I was driving just outside of Detroit. I had to pull over on I94 because I didn't want to miss a lick of his guitar playing. He sounded super human. I feel very strongly no person in this world could play the guitar quite like Stevie Ray RIP.
I remember exactly where I was when I heard that my favorite guitar player died. I just got home from work and heard it on the news. We just moved into our new dream home and I just went out to the back padio and cried for about an hour. A terrible day for so many people.
Clapton suggesting the greatest guitar player of all time was Stevie. He got really humbled in his later age. There is no shame in humility.
SRV was also an excellent singer, with a distinctive bluesy voice.
I have a photo of my best friend in high school, who was just the most beautiful and extraordinary girl, standing with Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Kinda like reliving Jimi Hendrix passing. You knew a talent like Stephen Ray Vaughn is never coming again. RIP SRV
Today is August 27, 2023. The anniversary of Stevie's passing. Rest in peace Stevie. The Sky is still Crying for you.
Wonderful words from Clapton. It’s hard not to think about the music SRV would have given us had he not passed away so young. Great video Goose!

I was at their show the night before he died. Went to see EC...but Stevie OWNED the evening!
I cry every time I think about Stevie Ray for too long -

Stevie opened my eyes to the blues.

I saw Clapton in St Louis right after the accident. I’ve seen Eric 4 times and that was the most emotional playing I’ve ever seen from him.
