  • Chris and Arun of the legendary Saves The Day recently stopped by the offices of Alternative Press while touring in support of their band-biographical, Zeppelin inspired, riff-driven new album "9" to show you how to play some of their favorite riffs in the Saves The Day catalogue.
In this APTV exclusive, Chris and Arun play through "9" tracks "It's Such A Beautiful World" and "Suzuki" along with "Through Being Cool" classic "Rocks Tonic Juice Magic." Detailing their reoccurring use of the flat fifth, open string voicing and using complimentary chords to build sonically interesting harmonies, this is a must watch for anyone who has ever wanted to play like Saves The Day.

I love the dual guitar style of the 1st two saves the day albums, the two guitars playing different things, throwing in fills constantly, and those huge droning but melodic leads are what really made those early albums. Especially when they tried to replicate the foo fighters tone

Although pretty simple, I've always loved the guitars in Rocks Tonic Juice Magic especially in the verses.

I saw them Live with two of my buddys in TO about 15 years ago. Chris is right when he says go see them live, it was one of the best times Ive had seeing anyone play. Chris is great, but watching Arun play is legendary in itself! He is an incredible guitar player. I love these guys and much regret falling apart from my old friends. Stay in touch with your loved ones guys. There is not a lot of time before you lose your chance to let the important people know that you fucking adore them. (#`-_ゝ-)
