The most terrifying part about this movie is the fact that this is happening all the time. Human trafficking is a horrible business that still very much exists. And that this movie is a watered down look into it is just terrifying.
This should be known as a Father's Day movie
Dasha, your parents wouldn't let you follow a rock band around Europe because they love you. There's nothing like a daddy's love for his little girl 💖 and his need to protect her.
NEVER MESS WITH LIAM NEESON OR HIS FAMILY!
Any father who has a daughter (like me) can relate strongly to the emotions in this movie. Personally, I find the subject of human trafficking to be incredibly dark. It's sad to think that they're are people in this world who exploit young women like this.
This is one movie that critics didn't like, calling it clichéd and brainless action, but audiences disagreed -- as did I. I think what critics missed is how much Liam Neeson elevated the role. The expressions in his face and eyes are masterful, flowing between terrified father and relentless operative with no need for any words.
“I told you I would find you” classic line
unfortunately I believe that this kind of disgusting crime still exists in the world… this film gave us a taste of justice
Fun fact: LEGO Qui-Gon Jinn in the PS4 game periodically says "I have a particular set of skills that might come in handy" when you select him.
One of the most satisfying movies to see the bad guys get Taken out. I wish the sequels had involved Brian's skilled buddies in a proper story, but I bet this movie damaged tourism to Paris with women for a while.
One of the things I liked was that they had Liam Neeson fight realistically. Usually they have two men fight each other in a very extended cinematic way. The reality is a single blow on the right place will incapacitate a man, and the typical human body can't handle many blows.
When my daughter was born (10 years old) the nurse in charge asked me: are you a first-time dad? I said yes and I will never forget this: "I am an only child and my father is the best. I am 26 years old and we still live together. Your daughter will be closer to you than to her mother.
Dasha! I saw you trying not to cry when he finally got her and she embraced him and started to sob. I started to sob too. Very emotional...gets me every time. What was sobering was that he found even his old colleague was getting paid to ignore the trafficking. This problem exists all over, where people who are supposed to work to protect are just in on it.
This is a dad movie. No question. Every dad would try to do this even if we know we don't have plot armor
Liam Neeson was boxer, so he was genuinely a tough guy yet he can bring such tenderness and vulnerability to a performance like Bryan's feelings for his daughter.
Great reaction as always, Dash! I recall when this movie came out it was an unexpected hit because it was released early in the year when studios typically release projects that aren't expected to be popular and just want to recoup some of their costs, and it far exceeded expectations. It also reinvented Liam N's career iirc as prior to this he was mostly known for his dramatic work and not as an action star, but that changed completely after this came out..... Thanks for the great reaction!
Two caring parents that care in different ways as in one cares and the other doesn't give a shit( it's a different way to care i guess)
When the guy says, "You gotta understand, it was all business." a PROPER response would be like, "That's disgusting. And this is personal." BANG
"What I do have is a particular set of skills ..." became an instant classic quote - very popular and often repeated.
When Kim hugs Bryan and says "You came for me," it makes me think of the opposite end of the parenting spectrum when the little girl in "The Man From Nowhere" says that her mother told her if she ever got lost, she should forget their phone number.
