There is no doubt Greg cared for Thomas but i do think his dedication also came at the cost of making the directing of the nitrogen era feel really dull, the constant reuse of the same angles across the whole era becomes really boring fast cause unlike the model era where similar angles are understandable due to how filming with miniatures works, here with CGI it just gives off the vibes of Greg being lazy or wanting to rush episodes out as quickly as possible, even if that wasn't his intention.

Yeah, I just realized something. His behavior might have been uncalled for, but it's not the WORST we could have gotten. Greg Tiernan, in my opinion, is INFINITY% better than the sexual advancer himself, John Lasseter.
It's been years at this point so I might be totally off-base. I could've sworn I read somewhere that it was HiT (maybe, at that point, Mattel) that ended the relationship with Nitrogen for tax purposes. That Arc had bigger tax cuts than Nitrogen. It was less that Greg had his fill with Thomas and left it and more like the company behind Thomas was done with Nitrogen and Sausage Party was just the next project they went with. I don't know how any of that works and like I said, it's been years
Respect my opinion i enjoy watching Thomas in CGI because it more feel like cartoon and it because it made Thomas so alive than ever but ya feel more like cartoon but yeah at least Thomas is still being a realistic train in cgi
Apparently, A few MLP voice actors such as Kelly Sheriden and Nicole Oliver voiced in Sausage Party, I would have loved to see one or two of those people voice some Thomas characters, maybe Nicole Oliver as Emily
It’s nice to know how well he treated Thomas but at the same time it’s also reasonable to acknowledge how he treated the animators during Sausage Party
Well, that's a great video on Greg Tiernan. He deserve more love for his work on Thomas and pity he didn't stick around for the Brenner era since he's faithful to the original series and source material and could've helped Andrew Brenner and his writers with things. Ah, well. The CGI animation looks good on Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam in my opinion and there's nothing wrong with that since Bob and his machines look the same in CGI as well as the stop-motion and Fireman Sam, Norman Price, Penny, Elvis and some characters look the same too. The animation improved since Series 8 and even more from Series 13 onward which looks really impressive so not nightmare fuel to me. Overall, great video and hopefully I'II see more of this crew member videos next time. Best of luck.
I am still grateful that Greg Tiernan had a lot of dedication when he was working on Thomas during an era of some mostly bad episodes, but otherwise good quality animation But hearing that Greg Tiernan would stoop to such awful things when he got onto working on Seth Rogen's Sausage Party given how many people have been left uncredited due to a singular blacklist and that he would get highly toxic to his own animators made me lose respect for him knowing that while yes, he is a talented genius who knew what to do and is a competent person. But hearing him do these things behind the scenes of Sausage Party is unforgivable to the point I can barely look past it. Though, he and the writing team having to put up with the HiT producers and executives making them use the same formula in a lot of the episodes produced secretly made me glad HiT was bought out by Mattel in the first place given how complete of stuck-up twats they really were in terms of how they managed Thomas during that time. I'm going to keep this short, but the same thing happened with Phil Lord when animators have been abused by him during production for the Spider-Verse sequel recently in 2023 and it's just as bad as how bad Sausage Party's behind the scenes scandals got. Hearing Phil Lord would give his own animation crew such awful and toxic treatment almost in his own way during production of that movie and showing no remorse or sympathy to the people he abused because he's a stuck-up bastard through that horrible response shows that people like him and Greg make me lose all faith and respect for them knowing their true colors.
I'm just amazed by Greg's work, It was very clear that he had the intention for Thomas and some of the real life Athletics of it. But it was HIT Fault that s13-16 We're so Bland, But at least it's better than AEG. This video blew my mind of how much history there was with him.
He probably *had* to use fear to control the animators because let's face it the TTTE franchise has gone downhill so much no-one in the animation industry respects you if you've worked on Thomas.
In my opinion sausage party had a lot of potential to be good (since I really like the concept of good seeing humans as gods since you can get a lot of emotion and drama out of it). Steve Reviews, a RUclips channel, reviewed this movie and sums up my current thoughts on the movie perfectly

@Thomas Theorist, I wanted to ask you a question. Is Porter and Harvey's CGI models designed by Nitrogen Studios before they stopped working on CGI Thomas & Friends because according to the Thomas The Tank Engine Wiki they are? I am so confused because Porter was created by Andrew Brenner and Ian McCue. So how could he be designed by Nitrogen Studios unless it was at the last minute? I could see Harvey's CGI model being designed by Nitrogen Studios as he was created before the switch to CGI. Of course, I would assume Harvey's CGI model didn't have a lamp and tail lamp if he was designed by Nitrogen Studios. As well as a break pipe and these changes were done by Arc Productions. @Thomas Theorist, please can you confirm if Porter and Harvey's CGI models designed by Nitrogen Studios or not by contacting a crew member who worked on the Thomas & Friends show at the time. Like Ian McCue. Please find out all the details.
Don’t blame Sharon Miller on this because she had to keep up with the yearly schedule juggling each season around 26 episodes. All of that lazy formulaic writing goes to the HiT execs because of their incompetence on relying on merchandise sales than telling good stories. The only good part of Sharon Miller’s works are TGD, HOTR, and BMM (which was heavily edited by Andrew Brenner).
I'm may be the first person here to say that I actually liked Sausage Party; it was hilariously over the top, crude sexual humour that does whatever it wants and doesn't care if it offends anyone, and that's they way it should be. And if you are one who did get offended by the over the top edgy jokes, then that means the movie did it's job and the ones who actually find it funny will enjoy it even more and support it (like South Park). Now, I have never heard of his 'scandal' before, but that does not drastically change how I see him like it does other people. Yes, it's disappointing he turned out to be a shitty boss but it's not like he's an absolute monster (afawk) that the cringe media likes to make him out to be. I mean come on, they write these crap headlines like he groomed minors or something. I still respect and admire his/team's work on both Thomas and Sausage Party as well as the dedication he had to the show and the Railway Series. It's just a shame he was so restricted by (S)HiT's bad vision for the show and the awful writing. Which this leads to my next point; Greg being restricted is a good thing? No, I whole hardily disagree. The restrictions made sense in the model series because they were unavoidable with the budget and tools they had, but with CGI the possibilities are almost endless. You have to find a good balance between the classic aesthetic, railway realism and pushing the boundaries of filming the show with CGI; if you are too restrictive and stick too close to an old restrictive style, then your work gets boring and won't be memorable even with a good script, but if you push the boundaries of animation too far, you get something that's too flashy, too fast paced; something that is trying too hard to appeal to kids like BWBA. It becomes an eyesore that does not stand out and falls back into the category of another generic flashy kids show that parents can leave their kids in front of to distract them; there's no engagement and nothing is being learned or retained. We almost got that perfect balance when ARC took over before Mattel decided to f it all up for greed, and I believe Grieg could've done that if he wasn't restricted by HiT Entertainment's demands (including the absolute dribble from their terrible Thomas Bible) and bad writing, and if he wasn't so fixated on keeping everything close to the classic style.
Maybe it’s nostalgia, but I still have a soft spot for the Miller era. I do have a degree of fondness for the characters and locations, and I do have good memories of Misty Island Rescue and Day of the Diesels. It wasn’t exactly perfect, but it’s something I grew up on.
A little relatable. Even though it was the most babyish point in the original series in terms of writing, at least it is better than the trainwreck that is the reboot we have today.
Greg Tiernan is quite an interesting person. He was a lot more dedicated to Thomas than most people who worked on the show and had some great ideas for it too. I especially love the fact that he made the Skarloey engines and rolling stock look as accurate to the real life Talyllyn fleet as possible. That’s something I would do with most of the characters if I was animating Thomas. And then he went on to make such a silly adult movie like Sausage Party and find out he was abused his power while working on the film. I feel like Greg was probably a little too ambitious when making Sausage Party while also trying to make it as cheap as possible. I don’t respect how he treated the animators but I do respect his ambition for Thomas and animation as a whole. As for Sausage Party, I find it to be a fun movie, but I do see why many people would not like it. I respect your opinion on the movie. On a side note, I’m currently studying animation in college and have plans to make an adult animated movie and maybe work on Thomas someday as well. Looks like me and Greg Tiernan aren’t so different.
I'll say this right here. Greg Tiernan seems, from what I heard from this video, to be a garbage human being (Not on the same level as John K or Dan Schneider, but still not a good person.). But, I do think there are instances where you can separate his work from himself. Hero of the Rails and Blue Mountain Mystery are still good, even though it's likely that the way he treated his animators during those productions really terribly, similar to that of Sausage Party.
I do like some of the CGI films but the older Thomas fans for example unlucky tug looks at writing and the bigger picture then the smaller things like stuff you can notice on the big screen and not on the edges like that marklin engine or the details it’s sometimes not about the writing or the characters itself it sometimes depends on how the back ground looks
Greg was not a writer for Thomas - he was an animator, hence why I focused on aniamtion rather than the writing, it's not a review of the nitrogen era as a whole.
Edit) Ok. So this is probably either a bad time or a good time to say but what your thought about the real CGI Thomas model being leaked? Ps I wish he was a better man or know limits.
If Xavier from Adult Swim got his model leaked, Thomas too. It’s wild but the only flawed this about the model is the lack of textures. Best part about the leaked CGI Model is that someone managed to use the model to covertly made the file to Blender if Maya is too expensive to keep.

@@bartzacky9639 At least Brenner carry over what he work on from Fireman Sam to Belle and Flynn to make them more professional as fire-fighters.
Nice video! Maybe in the future you could do a video about comparing Nitrogen, Arc and the BWBA studios animation?
I don't know how any of that works and like I said, it's been years
Respect my opinion
i enjoy watching Thomas in CGI because it more feel like cartoon and it because it made Thomas so alive than ever but ya feel more like cartoon but yeah at least Thomas is still being a realistic train in cgi
Apparently, A few MLP voice actors such as Kelly Sheriden and Nicole Oliver voiced in Sausage Party, I would have loved to see one or two of those people voice some Thomas characters, maybe Nicole Oliver as Emily
I pick Andrea Libman as Molly since she's shy like Fluttershy.
Not to mention that Ian James Corlett and Vincent Tong were in that movie as well.
It’s nice to know how well he treated Thomas but at the same time it’s also reasonable to acknowledge how he treated the animators during Sausage Party
7:31 Did anybody realize that victor's wheels aren't moving
Not to forget that he was the director of the two Addams Family movies alongside Conrad Vernon.
1:52 Nearly everyone I know sounds like that.
My wish is meet Andrew branner and Michael Brandon
Imagine if the Sausage Party characters crossed over with Annoying Orange and the VeggieTales characters
Autism content
I've been to the slate museum in North Wales meultiple times and I've seen the Dinorwic incline up close.

They say that Sausage Party is the worst film. Isn't it?
Not really. Sausage Party actually has a rather mixed reception, people either love it or hate it. I’m among the former.
That's the life of Entertainment Corporations. Scandals like this can happen, and it's hard to justify what's going on privately.
The combination we didn't need, but we got it. Mad but interesting topic.
Is it just me or are the animation markers on the engines incredibly eery?
I had thought the Stardust Animation test consisted fully-CGI models superimposed on model sets
3:10: Hell, I’m actually trying a Thomas marathon of my own, and I’m only three episodes into Season 10 (at the time of this comment’s publication).
I'd love to see a video about Helen Farrell, easily the best Brenner era writer.
In my opinion sausage party had a lot of potential to be good (since I really like the concept of good seeing humans as gods since you can get a lot of emotion and drama out of it). Steve Reviews, a RUclips channel, reviewed this movie and sums up my current thoughts on the movie perfectly

Hero of the Rails was supposed to be a model series movie just in case you forgot or just don't know
Supposed to be the intend “last” Model Series production before shifting to full CGI.
Also, Stanley was originally meant to be the main character in HOTR
@@bartzacky9639 I heard that and it might have had all the characters from the Model Series appear as far as I'm concerned
@@lyndasilkey5031 Like all of them entirely or the HiT newbies (I know Duck and the rest of the characters from the classic era would’ve debuted there if S12 was the season to use them one last time).
@@bartzacky9639 I would say both
@@bartzacky9639Pretty sure that's just a fan misunderstanding, there's no way a minor character like him would've been allowed the main role in a movie, more likely he was just gonna have a small role
I would dream for a ttte cinematic universe
He also directed the CGI Addams Family movies
When victor rolls into camera the first time his wheels aren’t moving
What hurt the Nitrogen era was the lazy writing
Don’t blame Sharon Miller on this because she had to keep up with the yearly schedule juggling each season around 26 episodes. All of that lazy formulaic writing goes to the HiT execs because of their incompetence on relying on merchandise sales than telling good stories.
The only good part of Sharon Miller’s works are TGD, HOTR, and BMM (which was heavily edited by Andrew Brenner).
@@bartzacky9639 true the original series from 1-5 took breaks between years to write good scripts and build incredible sets to film
@@bartzacky9639 Would Miller's writing be good in the Brenner era?
Same here
A little relatable. Even though it was the most babyish point in the original series in terms of writing, at least it is better than the trainwreck that is the reboot we have today.

I wouldn’t say that.
What kinda comparison is that ? 🤨
@@MatthewMiranda-l2t I'm just wondering

6:05 are you sure about that, it looks the same too me
Greg Tiernan is quite an interesting person.
EDIT JUMPSCARE
I've noticed that you mainly talk about CGI Thomas on your channel.
when did you meet greg tieman and get him to record "i did the animation"??? thats so funny lol
Bro, the don bluth movies are sooo good !!!!
We should talk a lot more about them !!

Dude look at that CGI model face it’s almost as if they tryed to keep the shape of the angry face with a worried face 4:47
I'm from Ireland as well.
17:42 the idea of food coming too life sounds so dumb too me. This movie dosen’t look like a adult movie
I miss cgi thomas
20:37 Wrong Movie!!
Thomas Theorist does engines have zodiac signs
3:01 what the HiT team should’ve done before making season 8😂
Yeah he could have been a good head writer, tho his role is different 😭
I do like some of the CGI films but the older Thomas fans for example unlucky tug looks at writing and the bigger picture then the smaller things like stuff you can notice on the big screen and not on the edges like that marklin engine or the details it’s sometimes not about the writing or the characters itself it sometimes depends on how the back ground looks
Greg was not a writer for Thomas - he was an animator, hence why I focused on aniamtion rather than the writing, it's not a review of the nitrogen era as a whole.
@@ThomasTheorist I guess I wasn’t clear in the comment I wrote in just saying about the little details that some would miss out on
