This is Keith Schallenkamp. I call it the Springleaf and I have a patent on it. I haven't started marketing it yet because I lived in Ukraine from 2000 t 2005. I was visiting friends there when the Russians invaded and have made 5 trips back there escorting friends wives and children out of the country because the men cannot leave the country. I have made a lot of videos this year and will start a RUclips channel in the next few months. I am getting some fabricated right now. I will start selling them next month. I want to thank Ed for his demonstration of them. I will be reciprocating and putting links to his site and channel. Thanks Ed!
@@edwardschneider2716 Thanks Ed. actually, I am back in Ukraine right now. I am working on my channel. Not as good at making videos as you are yet, but I am learning. Here is a link to my video on different ways to use the SpringLeaf. It shows what the eyelets are for at the end of the video. ruclips.net/video/BMddCPA7ujA/видео.html I am also including a set I developed to use larger baits such as a deer head. I call it the depression set. I have caught a lot of fox and coyotes with it. It also includes how I use sand to bed my traps. The first year I trapped after retiring it was very wet and muddy. I could not keep my sets working. Especially after freeze-up. Even the dry dirt I'd bring in would just immediately soak up the moisture and freeze down. Turns out that it kept my sets working in -10 degrees up here in the Northland. The second advantage I found with using sand like this is that it is quicker to make, and the traps are easy to stabilize quickly. They don't rock at all and after a day or 2 of the sand settling, it gets even better. Since I started doing this, I rarely get a miss, and all my catches are right across the paw. haven't had a toe catch either. ruclips.net/video/-pl4b2_4VTc/видео.html This last link is to show how good the sand bedding works in cold weather. I even poured water over one of my sets in freezing weather and then tripped it and some other traps the next day. This was done in freezing weather. I show a coyote I caught using your trail set too in this video. ruclips.net/video/unfQJVqA4WM/видео.html I also have some videos of beaver sets, and a lot of mink catches in bottom edge sets in deep water setting bottom edge sets along culvert flanges. I also have a video of a big buck otter I caught on a trail set on the ice using a 220 with the Springleaf. ruclips.net/video/unfQJVqA4WM/видео.html Shows how versatile it is on any surface or configuration. Used for coon trail sets the same way. Thanks for your advice and the shout out. I have learned a lot from you, and I love your trail set. I use it all of the time.
Can you show us how to set the trap and how the stabilizers work? I have an inkling, but I'd like to see a sample where you can see how they work underwater.
This is Keith. I have been making videos all season and am getting some fabricated right now. I haven't had time to start my RUclips Channel yet, but plan to within the next month. I will have a link where you can order them. I don't have a mail order business. So, I will just sell then through Etsy or something. I have spent the last few years in Ukraine mostly helping friends. I was there when the Russians invaded and escorted some women and children out of the country since the men can't leave. But, I should be ready for spring beaver. I have modified the slightly. Made them a little wider and made the tabs a little narrower. They bent to easily in the center in this configuration. But I will get things set up soon. I want to thank Ed for demonstrating them. I will certainly be reciprocating. Besides, he has excellent lures. Love his gland lures especially.
