  • Had another trapper give me some rebar stands to try with my 330's. Figured I would share with you. I have just started using them and I believe once I get use to using them, they are going to be a good addition to my trapping toolbox.

Something I've started using and I like it more and more is get 3/8" electric fence posts 2 ft long. You can paint if you like but not necessary. Anyway, you can snuggle those right up next to your trap for support/stabilizer stakes. You really shine in gravel or rocky bottoms. Carry a hammer and just drive them in. They dont brake easily. I've even put them on the INSIDE of the jaws when the trap is set if I can't, for some reason, get them to stabilize the trap running them through the springs. They don't take up any room and they don't weigh anything. Also you can narrow down the opening that the animal has to go through without losing jaw spread. Like if you may choose to do that when using a 330 for otter. Just play around with it. The possibilities are endless. Just an idea from another Trapper. Good luck to you sir

Great tip. Thanks for sharing. I have 100's of them lying around the farm for electric fencing. I bet they would work well.

When I made my Stakalizers, I put an piece of rebar under the notches so the trigger could be set down and in between them.

Just curious why you didn't just leave that trap on the limb in the channel you wanted it in. I've only been trapping a couple of years, but I definitely like the looks of it in the neck down area on the limb. I hope they work for you.

Here is the video of me moving it. ruclips.net/video/nnKN6LEVQz4/видео.html I didn't want to but concrete blocks on bottom of ditch and I couldn't get a solid bedding there.
