Glad to see my comments are working again, I have found with trapping simple is king. Also if you have to carry gear like trapping on state land weight Is important too. Thanks for watching.
A personal collection lol. It’s my goal to have trapped at least one of every fur bearer in the state, I have a few to go yet. I would eventually like to run a large trap line but my work really restricts my time to do so. Maybe when I retire.
@@huntnfishnuts5880 I love the bit of trapping. I only do it small scale for mink and rats but it is satisfying when everything works and you have a catch.
Nice work Paul! I knew you had some welding skills. I'm still working on mine! LOL! I have a wire welder (125 Amp). I have plans to buy a stick welder this year and give it a try. It's a good skill to have. Take care my friend!
Thanks Todd, I have to do a lot of welding and fabrication with my work but I had to spend a lot of time practicing and learning how to weld different metals with different techniques. For this I used a 140 amp mig welder with flux ore wire in 0.035 diameter. If I was using a stick welder I would have used a 3/32 6011 rod at 70 amp, it starts easy and burns deep. Being able to fabricate can be helpful for a trapper to make there own gear. I’m already making gear for next season. Be safe out there Todd.
Welding takes a lot of practice, I do a lot of welding with my job. You have to watch your current when welding thin sheet metal. When welding thick to thin start on the thick get your pool going then wash it up onto the thin just to get enough penetration to weld but not enough to burn through. When welding really thin stuff I use my TIG welder.
The lake really never closes, but they do take the docks out when there’s ice. Ice is starting to go now but usually it floods with snow melt when it’s flooded they won’t allow boating due to floating debri, I usually start out mid April, it was a zoo last year because of COVID though, I hope it’s not like that this year, if so I’ll head to lake Nockamixin in Quaker town.
Nothing more beautiful then red fox and muskrat pelts
Nice DIY project. Simple yet effective stands! 👍

If you want , try j b weld for the trap base ! J B weld is really strong
Nice job buddy I wish I had a welder I could use some more T stakes and rebar stakes. 👍🏻
Thanks Chip, I make all my own stands and anchors. I have a lot of metal fabrication equipment for my job so it’s not a big deal for me to make them.
Thank you.
Nice haul of fur in the background Paul

Nicely done. I'm fairly new to welding. I find i burn through a lot when welding thin material to thicker metals

@@huntnfishnuts5880 I will keep that in mind and maybe practice a little on some scrap pieces cheers
Hey Paul do you know when Beltzville opens for boating? Is it April 1st?

@@huntnfishnuts5880 Great info Paul! Thanks and see you out there.
