I just learned the other day how those poisons can transfer from mice to the animals who eat them so be careful letting your fur baby get ahold of it after it’s poisoned! ❤
Girlllll, I’m having the same issue with my garden but with squirrels😩. My neighbor recommended Cayenne pepper and black pepper mixed together in a spray bottle with water and spray that onto the plants 1 to 2 times a day. Rodents and bugs apparently hate the smell and it keeps them away. I spray the leaves then pour the leftover onto the soil. It has been working for now…but they always come back when I forget to spray. Hopefully this works out for you, good luck trooper 🤣🫡!
Your skills are seriously impressive, I have no interest in gardening but enjoyed this video a lot and wouldn't mind seeing updates or seasonal videos showing us what you're growing each season. You're amazing Sundai! 😊

Please do a whole season of "how to grow your own vegetable" i dont have a backyard to grow vegetables and this was SUPER HELPFUL for those like me who only have a balcony or live in an apartment!!! Never thought it was possible!
Hi Sundai! Your garden is cool. I am a gardener, and I absolutely loved this episode! This made me smile. I plan on planting aubergine, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, collard greens, edamame, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce, lima beans, purple peppers, tomatoes, and zucchini. I also plan on growing milkweed, sunflowers, and zinnias. Thank you for sharing your garden and gardening advice with us. Looking forward to your garden updates and recipes! 🌱🪴🪷🌻🐱🌳🌿🌲🌺
This might be my favorite part of the home buying+new rental series. Sundai, the initiative you take in your life is SO inspiring! I look at my backyard everyday and sigh for when I have the energy to design my garden (in my defense, I'm a 911 dispatcher, I be tired, y'all!). Growing food was one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done and I long to do it again. I looove seeing you get it done, you're so handy and proactive! 🥰 I promise to myself to get my garden ready for next season!
Honestly amazing. You are really doing a great job!! The effort you put in to everything you do really shows and girl it truly is rare to see someone with such tenacity and follow through!!!😂👏😭 thank you for sharing - very much inspired to start a mini indoor garden at home. 🥳
Even as a baby gardener, I’m super excited to read your guide! We just moved and I had to give up my garden bc we rented a place while we looked for housing. Starting all over now, so far I’m working on bunch onions, basil, cilantro, mint and I forgot what others bc I’m still upset over my last garden. It’s like I have some kind of farmer ptsd over here. Lawd, the neighbor lady warned you about EVERYTHING BUT THE YOKAI MOUSE IN YOUR CRIB!
Ok here goes, I've been farming for four years and here are some tips: 1st clear out as much clutter on the balcony and around the garden which is prime real estate for them to hide and create homes around your garden. 2nd grow marigold and basil around your garden as a more effective deterrent. They can't stand the pungent smell 3rd place pieces of Irish spring around your garden, it is commonly used to keep deer and rodents out of farms Lastly, create chicken wire cages with holes too small for them to squeeze through, but make sure you cover the bottom as well I certainly hope this helps Lil Sunny Sundai ☀️
So I’m in NC. My sister and I have planted strawberries, green onions, tomatoes, I got a grape vine at Lowe’s that growing really well! (2 clusters getting big) annnd a meter lemon tree !! ❤
@@SundaiLove Sometimes I just get really lucky and go at the right time & find the last ones but you have to snatch it! Haha Oh and a lady on tik tok said chili pepper flakes will help with pests so may want to look into that. I feel your pain on that.. something been getting into my strawberries 😭
Sundai…you just always bringing the fun, inspiration and smiles. The ‘rat war’ had me in tears laughing so hard! That rat was a serious little thug..LOL! I’m glad you won and RIP little plants🙏🏽. The garden looks wonderful and makes really really hungry! I want to try growing tomatoes and herbs, but also strawberries. Do you have any tips on fruits…especially strawberries? Great video!💗💗
Seeds don’t go bad as long as they are stores properly. They may get harder to germinate but they will grow, even if 5+ years old. Happy growing and so happy I found your channel!!!
Sunday I been growing my garden for years and the feeling is so rewarding to know where your food come without being scared of gmo and genetic engineering foods and bioengineering foods these things was making me sick for years and I didn't know that's when I started gardening I'm healthy and sick free thanks for sharing that side of you and there is nothing wrong with gardening and knowing what goes in your body love u ❤
LOVE THIS!!!! I was hoping you would post a video about your garden. I've always enjoyed the little snippets you shared. I started my urban balcony garden in Amsterdam this year and it's been fun just getting it started. I have zero clue what I'm doing, but I figured it's all a learning process. Planted some strawberrries which are starting to ripen and it's giving me so much joy. Also planted beets, lettuce, spinach, green beans, herbs, raspberries, chives, carrots, lavender, and my most ambitious item is a watermelon. My husband insisted because I love it so much. Will definitely be downloading your guide cause I can use all the tips I can get! I also have a pomegranate tree which I hope will fruit lol Gardening is such a stress reliever and if you can grow your own food it does bring a level of control over what you're consuming.
I love balcony gardens and have my own here in Sweden - nothing more relaxing than taking care of plants 🪴 and enjoy them in meals later! LOVED this video, would not be sad to see more plant related videos from you 😊☀️
I really enjoyed watching your video, and yes, I would love to see more gardening! Just a suggestion on the ton of kale; Just take a minute, wash thoroughly, cut, lightly blanch, dry well, lay the little pile on a cookie sheet, freeze them on it, then once they are frozen, (10mins) throw them in a Ziploc bag. It should remain loose and frozen so you can just reach in and grab a small batch for smoothies, soup etc… It works for me. I cook for a lot so, I just put 6 servings worth in a bag and load up my freezer with tons of bags! (LOL) Peppers & onions work great too! You’ll end up loving yourself, for preparing so well for winter! Super nice, that I found you! Sincerely Caroline
My husband moved to Canada from Korea 🇰🇷 and has a hard time finding certain vegetables😢. This gives me motivation to grow a garden and save money $$$ ❤
I'm starting a veggie garden and have some bulbs and roots too.I'm also thinking about getting one of those indoor gardens like that aero garden to grow year round. I like your approach to gardening that you always inspire. Also as a sis with chronic illness, I admire your tenacity and that you're able to achieve your dreams whilst going through the rough times when your sick. That takes a lot of energy-you inspire with that as well-many more blessings to you Sundai.
This worked for me for years. Get a cheap peanut butter powder like peanut butter cookie mix and baking soda. Mix 2 parts and mix 1 part baking soda. Rodents will get major gas from the baking soda, the issue for them is, they can't FART!. Cheap and effective.
Hi Sundai!! Really love the gardening content. It's wonderful. An older friend had me help with her garden in the city. She told me that cayenne pepper keeps rodents away. You can shake it out among your plants. See if that helps!
Soooooo love this I’ll have to rewatch just to be encouraged to start. Bugs are our greatest enemies and trying not to use pesticides. So I want to build something like you did and see if that helps. 😊
Absolutely ❤ this mini gardening series Sundai👏🏿👏🏿 The war with the 🐀 commentary had me hollering😂 That 🐀 really didn't know who it was dealing with!! I'm a balcony and tiny garden grower myself so I felt your pain/frustration.
What a green thumb! You have inspired me to start a garden when I move out of my folks home (hopefully later this year). I think it's gonna be lettuce, tomatoes, snap peas, peppers, and maybe limes and strawberries. I've checked and zone 7a is good for all of them. I also liked the purple blooming plant I saw, what was that? Love your vlogs💛💛💛💛
Ha! Rachet Rat finally makes the vlog! Thanks Sundai for the vlog! I never ate a canned veggie until college cause of family gardens. I'm now inspired to start one. Oh cross fingers I can get something to grow! 🥰
You might want to fasten your balcony greenhouse to the balcony somehow if it's windy there. Mine almost flew away until I did that.😅 Amazing video❤I just found your channel - it's so well thought out and inspirational😊
Hi, Sundai! I found your channel recently, and just watched your finding home in Japan series. You're an amazing creator, and thank you for making wholesome content ♥
This was SUCH great content! The war with that creature was hilarious! I definitely think you could make this a series. I'd love to learn how to garden from you
May God bless everything you touch. You are a remarkable young woman and a true inspiration. Don’t ever stop being who you are. The world needs people like you. I’m a happy subscriber.
I love your garden! I have a big one in yard that I always grow what I know I will eat and saves me $ by not having to buy it. I don’t have bug issues as much as some very hungry squirrels and a fat groundhog but both are kept out of my fortress of a garden. It’s completely caged in with small hole chicken wire on sides and bigger hole chicken wire on roof so bees still can go in and out but nothing else does. I raised the garden beds in giant planter boxes that are lined with weed barrier and stone slabs under to prevent a ground hog from digging from under. Then outside perimeter I put stone gravel with solid cement pavers again to stop the groundhog. The metal small hole chicken wire fence keeps mice out as well. And I am lucky to have befriended some neighbourhood outdoor cats who love to hang around my garden to just try to catch something. I am growing this year: kale, mixed greens lettuce, celery, garlic, cucumbers, Brussel sprouts (new and first time trying that), parsley, red peppers, eggplant(new this year too) strawberries, and mint. I also have an Apple tree in my back yard which always gives me way more apples than I can handle. Love my garden and am still finishing off my celery from last year that I froze. And I share the bounty with family. Glad to see more like minded people who are gardening. Really enjoyed this vlog hope you make another for your summer veggies. Thanks for the vlog!
I suggest freezing kale and some other veggies! Or making broth with them and you can freeze that as well! Making fresh juices is another way to use up veggies and leafy greens. Make Lots of salads, soups, and stir fry. And if course spending the love and gifting some to neighbors 💚💚💚 I’ve been gardening for years now and I love it so much!! Especially just bringing “gift” baskets full of fresh goodies when I visit friends and family 💚
sundai pleaseeeee keep us updated on your garden!!! Even if you don't put it in your main videos, maybe have a video every once in a while just for your garden
I'm Turkish, and my family and I used to live in the Netherlands. My parents always grew mint, parsley, spring onions, radishes in the garden. We even had pumpkin once. It was just awesome
I found you because of gardening. I have a larger garden in my back yard, but my bestie is starting a balcony garden and wanted to get some ideas for her since she has never gardened. I do want you to know though seeds don't really "expire". You may have lower germination rate but they should still grow. I have seeds that I still use that are over 10 years old. Also, try and find a way of tying down your green house. If there is wind, it could tip over! The higher the better. Thanks for your video!
I go through spurts of just sitting down and binging the heck out of your videos, and this is by far one of my favorite vlogs!! I absolutely love plants and the idea of gardening, and this was super educational and fun to watch (as are all of your other videos ^^)! Thank you Sundai!
I’m so happy this series is happening, I love gardening! I started my garden five months ago after getting cheated, I did this to help me deal with the trauma. I sit in my garden at night and would cry and journal. When I pull the weeds out I cry, when I’m planting a new plant I cry. Recently, I bought lady bugs (Amazon) and it was so fun releasing them and watching them stay in my tomato plants. I have mushrooms growing everyday in my soil and it’s a great sign, meaning that my echo system is balanced and protected.
Your videos remind me of what I’m fighting for 😩. Escaping is the goal! Gotta keep pushing so I can live a better life. Texas keeps getting crazier everyday and I’m trying to live in a country where I don’t have to drive everywhere.
Sundai purchase a deep freezer to store your vegetables. I understand Japan have amazing secondhand stores where you can purchase almost new kitchen appliances. I would purchase the appliances at the secondhand stores to save money.
Could you please make a video showing us some of the things you cook/make with your veggies that you grow?☺ I was so happy to see you made this video! I want so badly to grow my own food but I kill everything I try to grow some how 😩.
Your gardening skills are fire 🔥 🔥 🔥 Your persistence to work with your environment has given you grace and patience! I TRULY ENJOY WATCHING AND LEARNING GARDENING WITH YOU❤️❤️❤️
For all pest control problems give your plants a good hardy bath in hot sauce water (roughly 1/3 hot sauce 3/4 water). The smell itself should keep the critters away and the hot sauce doesn't impact the plants. At least it never bothered mine. You want to do it at night not only because it will stop the water from evaporating and taking the hot sauce with it, but because that is when the little pests come out and start their nibbling and you want to get them when it will be at its hottest. This also works to keep all kinds of bugs away from the fauna babies too. If the critters do end up nibbling on the plants the start to associate your plants with mouth pain and tend to go away after a day or two. You want to give the areas the critter seems to like the best the most watering, like you mentioned it was going for the stems. Hope this helps. P.S. You might want to keep Duchie inside over night after applying the water so she doesn't get it in her mouth or eyes. I have cats and use this same method to keep them from chewing on my plants. Cats are smart and normally just sniffing the plant wit hot sauce on it keeps them away but always better safe then sorry.
The bane of our existence. Mice ate SO many starts from the greenhouse this spring. We finally got a bucket trap, and that's working. We live on a field and woods so it's a constant battle and the starts finally came inside to the house where the cats could do a better job watching for mice.
Should we tag you in our veggie pictures? lol...I'm tempted to start a little window garden. Could use planting friends :D

And if course spending the love and gifting some to neighbors 💚💚💚
I’ve been gardening for years now and I love it so much!! Especially just bringing “gift” baskets full of fresh goodies when I visit friends and family 💚
I need more of this in my life... Please, please, please do more gardening videos ❤❤❤❤❤

I'm Turkish, and my family and I used to live in the Netherlands. My parents always grew mint, parsley, spring onions, radishes in the garden. We even had pumpkin once. It was just awesome
I’m a be honesty. I have not seen your videos in a while but I clicked so fast when I saw it was about your garden.
There is something so calming about this whole gardening thing you got going on. Now I want to garden but Im in Texas and I cant grow anything so ...
Please do more gardening videos this upcoming year! I love them 🤗
We have a similar portable green house like yours. It works great for germinating. As long as it doesn’t get windy it works great
I found you because of gardening.
I TRULY ENJOY WATCHING AND LEARNING GARDENING WITH YOU❤️❤️❤️
I am amazed at how detailed your video was on gardening. You are really professional! You have sooo inspired me. Thank you!
Oh dang! That sounds intense.😢 I hope it all worked out
If I could only pick one channel to watch on YT, it would be @sundailove
