  • Hello friends, welcome back to my channel and a warm welcome back to my series "my little balcony garden" ♥️ it's been a while since I uploaded my last balcony garden video - if you follow me on instagram and watched some previous videos, you might know that I'm now living in Hamburg and my precious garden is long gone now 💔 So that's why this video is even more special to me since it shows the last season I had with it. This won't be the end of this series though as I am lucky enough to have a balcony here in my new flat, as well, so that means we're starting from scratch! I am super excited for this new chapter and already started the first seeds - but more on that in a future video! Now let's enjoy this one together, shall we?
    I think it's also time to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who have watched this video series and left comments and tips etc.! It is so much appreciated and I can't believe I have over 600 subscribers now! 🥰 So thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart! You motivate me to make more and better videos ☺️

    When growing squash, you need two plants so they can fertilize each other
    Also remove the first fruit

      Thanks for the tip, I will definitely keep that in mind in the future! I will not plant any plant of the squash family this year, but might try again in 2024 :)

    Just a thought on the squash. The shot you showed there was a lot of root disturbance occurring with already fragile roots. It may be beneficial to plant the squash without disrupting the roots :) hope this helps

      Thank you for watching and your suggestion! I think you are right and I will try to disturb the roots of my plants less in the future! :)

    I really love your balcony garden do you ever put food scraps in your containers along with toilet paper rolls and shredded paper and get some earthworms and they'll just help you so much😊

    You can hand pollinate the pumpkins (as well as zucchini, cucumbers and more). There are a few videos on it around :)
    Also I've heard the carrots don't like to be transplanted, because they are root crop and it's damaging them or deforming at best. If your climate allows, try to plant them directly, seeds to final place straight away.
    All the best with the gardening!

      Hi Irene and thank you for your tips!! With the carrots, yes you're absolutely right and I finally figured that out now 😂 I will try to directly sow them this year for sure! About the squash family plants: well most of the blossoms fell off the plant before I could do that, I had thought of the same thing before... I will not plant any of them this year but might try again next year :)
      Have a great Sunday! 🌱

    Do you always need to keep the plants in the house at first? Because I also want to start a balcony garden, but can't really keep all those seedlings and little plants in my house. Would it hurt to just plant the seeds on the balcony straight away?

    • @LisaMarieKaspar
      @LisaMarieKaspar  2 месяца назад

      Hey Christi! I think it totally depends on your climate and what time in the year it is, as frost can definitely harm seedlings and plants and seeds often need a certain temperature to sprout! I recommend looking into the climate zone you‘re gardening in and act accordingly :)

      @@LisaMarieKaspar I think we have the same climate as yours does, since I'm based in Amsterdam :) But will do some more browsing on Google

    May I ask the measurements of the garden beds?

    • @LisaMarieKaspar
      @LisaMarieKaspar  9 месяцев назад

      Of course! :) They are 100 cm in width, 40 cm in depth and 90 cm in height! Hope this helps 🥰
      PS: I gave them to my sister last year as I moved to Hamburg. I will build new ones in the coming year!
