    Im planning a trip to Japan, any tip on how to change between time zones? For example I’m having trouble setting the Day at Disney from 9am-9pm on the 21st of October because it automatically moves it from 6pm the 20th to 9pm the 21st if I put the Japan time zone

    • @lucasmacinhome
      @lucasmacinhome  4 дня назад

      I can help with this if you want a hand but in the calendar app if you go into settings and then advanced, you’ll see time zone support as an option. Turn that on. Then in the main calendar window, in the top right, you can add the other cities and switch between them. It makes it way easier to add something as you’re talking about. You can add it in the daytime while you have whatever city in Japan selected.

    Thanks!! 3 things:
    1. You’re still gorgeous. No surprise.
    2. I end up with duplicate calendars somehow and cannot comp whence they came. I’ll see two of the same birthday, for example. If I try to turn off the extra, (laptop during Covid) they both disappear. What up wi’dat? Is that a general video topic?
    3. You are using your laptop here but I usually input on my phone. Wouldn’t you love to make a video specially for the phone app? Can I do the same stuff in my phone? I’ll try some.
    Already use and abuse alerts, but did NOT know I could create a third! Perhaps because I mostly use my phone.
    Inputting this on my phone now and the cursor jumps wherever the eff it wants to apparently. Just thought I’d share.

      2. I would need to see that exact issue on your Mac, and I would be able to help you delete them. Book anytime from my calendar! macinhome.com/booking/
      3. Many of these work on iPhone as well but the mechanics are different because it's more tap and drag, or tap and hold, etc... on the iPhone screen. I will likely do that video sometime but in the short term I would be happy to help you one in one via phone / zoom to show you all these same tips! THis was helpful, thanks. But do you, or anyone else, know how to avoid this Apple Calendar issue:
    Whenever I add a multi-day event. Let's say 'Holiday in Florida' from 1st - 14th August, that then covers everything else in Week View. Because of this, I can't access or edit any other events during that time frame, since they are 'behind' the multi day event. How do we 'send that event to the back', if you know what I mean. Thanks

    • @lucasmacinhome
      @lucasmacinhome  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah there's no way to "send to back" the same way as you can in design apps etc. The only fix for this is to put the trip up into the "all day" section or click the "all day event" checkbox. If you block off for example 8am to 8pm for 10 days then yeah it's hard to click on other events. Easiest fix is just drag it up to the all day section at the top (in week view).

    Hi, Super helpfull tips!! Do you know if there is an option to move multiple calendar items at once? (For example "prepare swimming gear" "Drive to swimmingpool" "swimming" "Drive home", and if I want to swim a few hours later I have to move all those items 1 at the time, but I want to move them all together as a pack.). I hope you can help me with it.

    • @lucasmacinhome
      @lucasmacinhome  2 месяца назад +1

      Not that I know of! The only way you can do that is with a recurring event, you move the first one and all the repeat instances will move. But if you are trying to move a bunch of different events I would move them one by one as there's no shortcut I know of.

    Nice video. Love tip #4 and #10. With alerts and reminders, I've found it's too easy to dismiss. Multiple alerts will help avoid that. As a back up, I set alarms for all events and use the snooze feature when needed. Alarms are more persistent (annoying really - LOL) but work to make sure I don't dismiss and blow an appointment.
    Do these shortcuts work with IOS devices?

    • @lucasmacinhome
      @lucasmacinhome  11 месяцев назад

      Haha I do that too - setting alarms 5 mins before the most important meetings! Often the calendar pop ups are not enough.

    Are there things about Google calendar that you wish Apple calendar had or are you so deep in the apple ecosystem that it’s easier to choose Apple over Google. I have a ton of apple products and I find it easier just to keep things simple with Apple and I also feel like Google products scrape battery life off of my phone faster than default apps. Have you had that same experience

    • @lucasmacinhome
      @lucasmacinhome  10 месяцев назад

      My main email macinhome.com is a Google workspace account, and I use my Google calendar heavily but only through the Apple Calendar app. So I am only ever looking at and working in the Apple Calendar.app but the guts of it is still Google. I haven't found a feature or function in the Google-only world (ie. using Google calendar website) that makes me want to use that more than the Apple Calendar app.

Thing is can't I see external subscription calendars (my office Gmail calendar in this case) when I view my Apple calendar in a browser on my Windows machine. Do note that this office calendar is very visible on my Apple calendar on my iPad, Mac and iPhone, although I think I had to add each one separately. P.S. @@gianlucaazzolini Yeah I see what you mean... it would be nice to be able to create a folder / group in the calendar list and have the ability to turn them all on or off at once. No that isn't currently an option... the best you can get now is either give each group its own unique prefix like ACME John Smith, ACME Lucas Roberts, etc. So they're visually grouped. Or you can drag them up and down so they are grouped in the list.
