Worked there for 10 years - never got lost once.
On the other hand - both television Centre and Lime Grove were complete nightmare to try and navigate.

Television Centre was just vast. It should've been simple, as the eight main studios were are in a circle around the donut and TC1 of course is the most obvious with it's dots on the front. I remember trying to get from the Spur block to Studio TC3 and it took me ages navigating corridors.

This was well made. BBC stopped making quality documentaries shortly after this. I think using film instead of digital has something to do with my preferences for older BBC documentaries, but the whole approach was better.

I love the beauty of the original studios. It is interesting to contrast this 1932 building with the CBC Broadcast Centre in Toronto & the Montreal CBC Building. This was and remains wonderful history.

BBC Broadcasting House is very very different now in 2022. The original building remains, fully refurbished, but now there is a massive extension which provides the BBC newsroom and the Peel Building which houses BBC One Show on TV and other radio.

Not long after this programme was made discussions were in place about closing TV centre and bringing TV continuity and news studios and also the radio World Service to Broadcasting House. This all came to happen. TV is mostly in a huge new extension at the back of the original building, replacing an extension built in 1951. The new extension also continues around to the right to form what is known as the Egton wing which partly mimics the original building in a modern style. There used to be a building called Egton House there which was the home of Radio 1.

The current Broadcasting House is very good. In fact it has got bigger in 2024 with BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music moving into Broadcasting House after they closed the neighbouring Wogan House, previously known as Western House

Tim Gudgin. The b&w clip comes from the 1960 film 'This is the BBC' directed by Richard Cawston

@@markpunt9638 Well they have modern studios at least and more space. The old Egton House was falling to pieces.

Boring stuffy building, just the rubbish satire coming out of the theatre.
