Another insta win combo for grizzly is paint + fan. They lose fly blocking and your mantis god gains flying. So even a 2/1 Mantis god will beat the grizzlies.
You should do a run where you take every single card you can, but all the pelts you can and all rabbit so you get the most cards, go to every card event and win all caves you can, etc. no sacrificing or deleting cards with bone lord, no using mushrooms unless it’s forced. Keep all items and never use them so you can get pack rats.
Wow that bug (if we can call it that) at the Angler fight REALLY needs to be patched, absolutely ridiculous that it works that way. But apart from that, great run to showcase how you can abuse the starting hand mechanic, I am going to have to do the same for the grizzly challenge, thanks Sifd

After your run yesterday showcasing the 1 cost guaranteed draw, I did basically exactly this strat with all challenges active and got really lucky, came away with a fecundity totem for insects and a 5 power mantis god. First time I was able to beat all challenges active at once! Thanks Sifd!
At the end with the grizzly it's just because sprinter mirrors the card art to make it more clear that the card is moving to that direction. Elks have very asymmetrical art to make it even more clear that they are heading somewhere. By the way, you REALLY shouldn't have gone to that flame instead of the totem when you had to decide between the two, because the flame would have no effect even if it were an attack flame
hey for the part where the grizzly looked abnormal, the reason why that happened is because when a card moves in a direction, it turns into that direction. So it looked abnormal cause it was looking to the opposite direction it normally works.

If it's going to move instantly (which also makes no sense) then it should at least continue to attack at the new position. If it works the way you're describing, "now the card in column 3 continues its attack", then that's a flaw in the object-oriented model, a programming bug. A card just disappearing during an attack should throw a null reference error. This is a classic problem of changing the order of a list while you're iterating through it. The problem can be solved by moving the card at the end of the turn during a defined phase, instead of instantly.

The strategy I used to beat Skull Storm was using the Moose Buck starter deck. Good damage and health, and my thought process was if I got to put unkillable on my Black Goat I could play as many 3 cost cards I wanted. By the end of the run, I had an Unkillable Black Goat, two Unkillable 5/7 Moose Bucks, two Grizzlies where one had Bi-Strike, a Lammergeier, and a Cockroach with Scavenger and Trinket Bearer, and to top it all off I had a Bi-Strike Hooved totem right before the final boss. The only reason this strategy works is because of the fair draw mechanic. As long as you have 1 blood cards in your deck, the game will ALWAYS give you at least 1 on your first draw. You can abuse this mechanic by actively avoiding 1 blood cards at card encounters, so always pick 2 or 3 blood cards instead. Heck, you could even go for an Urayuli with this strategy if you wanted, although it would be a bit risky. Just try to get Unkillable on your Black Goat asap and keep your deck as small as you can and you're good. Alternatively, you could get Hoarder on your Black Goat, and then all you need to do is just beef up a 3 blood card to be really really powerful and not worry about other cards in your deck, so long as you still avoid 1 blood cards like the plague. If you do this then you'll still always get your Black Goat on your first draw, and then all you need to do is place it down and grab your op 3 blood card. It would be ideal to put unkillable onto this card if you can't manage to increase it's health by a lot. However, if you can get its damage to at least 12, then put Trifurcated Strike on it, that way you can take out 6 whole grizzlies with one turn, then you just need a card to block the remaining 2 grizzlies. All in all, this strategy might be best to do with the Mantis God starting deck though. Maybe try to back out to the main menu upon loading in and keep encountering the trader until you see a Black Goat and a Grizzly, then you can take your Mantis God and sacrifice it for your Grizzly, and use the ringworm at campfires to make them free. This way you put the powerful sigil on your Grizzly and it's stats are already high. The disadvantage is you need the proper cards to play it, but if you get your Black Goat that shouldn't be a problem, so long as you get rid of your other 1 blood cards. Then just try to power up your Grizzly, either with campfires or by combining dupes. If you can manage to combine 3 grizzlies together then you've already got a board wipe card, and again, just need a card to block the last 2 grizzlies at bosses. Also to add a note on the bug that happens at 27:30, something similar can happen if you have a card with Bi-Strike or Tri-Strike or even Double Strike, and it dies before it can continue tany remaining attacks. Say your card dies on the first strike because it has 1 health and hits a card that has Sharp Quills, and you have a card with Corpse Eater, so it takes the original card's place. An interesting interaction between multi-hit sigils and Corpse Eater is that the card that is pulled in will continue any remaining attacks. Though I'm not sure this is a bug, it seems almost intentional.

I used to watch you a lot when I was first grinding out the game after launch, but you came in clutch today when I recently got back into the game and wanted to try Kaycee's Mod for the first time and had to finally attempt to beat it with all challenges on! What I took away from your vid is 1) Not just discourage, but avoid getting any low cost creatures, and just as helpful if not more, 2) Don't try burning my ringworm at my first campfire if I can get a 6dmg mantis! 🤣 Even if the shark+yolo sigil interaction is supposed to be that way, you resetting there wasn't cheating. We know that if you knew it did that you would have played it the way you did the second time. That's a really dumb mechanic. If it's supposed to be that way, that is just one more sigil that is even more trash than we thought.
With that fun interaction you got with trifuricated shot and moving, its the position of the card that continues the attack. For example if you have Corpse Eater on a card in hand and a trifuricated card starts an attack and dies midway through, when the corpse eater card gets placed in its position it will continue the attack despite not having the sigil
I tried using the no cost starter deck and made a deck with no 1 cost cards and no bone cost cards late into the matches. It failed, as I didn't draw my no cost geck (I had gotten rid of both the rabbit and the bullfrog), and got two 2 cost mud turtles. But, since that deck is lizard heavy, one might try the same thing, but with a skink as the 1 cost card. Then if you have the fecundity sigil or the unkillable sigil, you can generate wriggling tails handily, since you'll draw the 1 cost skink and that should be enough to kill all of the grizzlies and most of the battles. Except for the turkey vulture/mole fight...
I was having troubles finishing my first challenge, but after watching this and applying this idea to a 5/6 Stoat with Magpie sigils along side having a 14/14 Urayuli with Corpse Eater and a Grizzly that also saw the Mycologist. I don't think the grizzly had any sigils added, but I got the win with the first started deck.

27:55 it's okay dude u don't need to explain it, there are so many random factors in that game that determinate the outcome I tried different ways on kaycees mod with all challanges on, I also beat him, didn't even know if it's possible or supposed to be that way, because of that also was not an official challange with 250/250 points I tried many times, there are sooooo many random factors that can destroy your deck immediatly, it needs one bad card you get that at the first hand, and it's over, he will do over 4 dmg, often they had 4 spots with creatures after 1 round so you have to defeat them always if possible in the first round i think dire wolf is the best way, 'cause there are more ways with it, which decreases the random factors take dire wolf, push it through firecamp once, then he has 3 dmg twice on one spot, with scizzors, always insta win, try to hold your deck small as possible, to have the best chance to get him at the start you can increase your chance, by taking more, or copy them with the green glibber portrait dude, you can also take the little dire wolf which grows after 1 round, you can also take them to fight, take the grow after 1 round symbol on your grown direwolf or merge them if you have a direwolf which has 6 dmg, or 5 dmg and the grow after 1 round symbol you dont even need any items, he kill the bears with his first attack, and destroys leshy with the second attack so if you have a dire wolf with 6 dmg, you are only focus to get the other on 6 too, or to hold your deck small, that you get that card at the beginning or after few rounds I also got lucky buy that I got the totem with insects recover from death which make the 0 deck unbelievable strong because you can now put 3 cards to def, and they always come back to your hand, which allows you to get all your cards from your deck i copied geck 3 times, if you get 1 you can push the rounds so many along till you have your whole deck in your hands i didnt even need any items to finish the bosses but I know that there are sooo many random factors which causes loose, so it's okay dude, you dont need to explain it 😂 imagine how many fight's you have ob the boards before the bosses and how random they can be, especially in kaycees mod totems, more creatures, bad cards, so on i think it's extra that way coded, that you can reload why can you reload a new map after a boss fight, but you can't reload after camp fire, it's save instantly there are save spots where are you allowed to load, so it's okay when you use them
I did it "easily", thank you. Unfortunately I did not found any damage campfire before the mushroom, but my mantis had Fecundity. For final pirate boss, I used one of my 3 magpies to get my wild bull (with apple sigil) and sac it for my 2nd mantis -> 7 power / 12 health
Little tip I figured out that the painting can also change the creatures tribe. I figured this out when my wolf had no change, but it was affected by the insect totem.
i tried doing this and after exactly 10 runs i still couldnt get it to work, my ring worm would not die and id give up on the first fight i see, try again, wouldnt die, give up on the first fight i see, try again.. after 4-5 times of that happening i tried putting my mantis god to double buff it and guess what, it dies, of course, then i kept trying to kill the ring worm if it was health and buff my mantis god if it was dmg and i got the worst outcome every time, finally on my 11th run i got it to work but guess what, goobert gave me -1 dmg on my mantis god so it was a 5 2 when i gave it to the mycologist so i couldnt 1 shot the grizzly and i died then gave up for that day, very angry at my luck

The bleach/paint can be insanely powerful! If you have a bleach and a fan you can instawin the wall of grizzlies. Also if you are at a point on the map where you have a choice of where to go like at 25:42 you can always go see what is at one of the locations and then go back to the main menu and come back and choose the other option if you don't like what was there. As long as you don't use the fire or select a head/body it will NOT save! So you don't have to throw all your hopes on that one thing!
Yesterday your video inspired me to do an every challenge except the grizzly run. I succeeded the run but I’m not sure I have the wherewithal to add the grizzly.
How do you gain challemge points? The vanilla deck is extremely difficult and I've played it several times with a +5 challenge on but never get points.
The problem I have with running this category is that it's so RNG based for the first fight. There are a couple ways to do it but they're all dependent on the game being nice to you. Mantis+insta death+enough health to survive one grizzly attack. Or Mantis with enough power to kill a grizzly+either one turtle shield or a undying totem. You could even try Mantis+power+field mice if you want. ...Not impossible to get any of these but certainly not fun to grind over and over until RNG is nice!
2 other way to do the bear rush is Toutch of death. and a way to spam the board. or doing 6 dmg and able to tank 4. or deal 12 dmg to 1 bear. this make the hole lane clear and once the 2 beqrs are dead you should get the win

Update: after MANY unlucky attempts, I brute forced my way through the last battle where I missed the 75% chance to get the mantis in the opening hand by playing pack rat in different situations & then resetting (about 50 times) until I got the item needed to win. 😓 skull storm failed successfully

Having more Mantis Gods (or cards which behave exactly like a Mantis God) only increases your deck's efficiency, and avoiding it to use the Fair-Hand Mechanic on Mantis God makes absolutely 0 sense, because you could have had 3 Mantis God-like cards in your deck instead of just 2.

I tried this Strat and the game hates cause the first time around got rid of the first ring worm instantly on health. Then through the entire rest of the game no flame. 2nd attempt Forced to pick a bone cost as the rest were 1 cost except for 1. Got rid of it though instantly. Then the fire got rid of ring worm on health into the rest of the fires only being health no damage. Worst part was there was no sigil transfers in any path for the whole game so the 1 cost ring worm killed me when I had a 2/3 chance at drawing the beefy mantis cause I painted it with still no damage buff. Hit both 1/3 to draw the ring worm in both battles and lost. Game hates me man.
"Not a lucky run" Bruh I just did like 8 runs of this and didn't get a single painting, attack boost campfire, double strike opportunity or pair of scissors. It's not a god run, or anything, but it still requires RNGesus to give you what you need. Haven't gotten the necessary implements to kill the first boss even once. ... Well time for another run.
Same boat here. Just have to get past that "critical mass" point where you don't have to worry about the battles and can instead focus on items for the grizzlies. Hasn't happened yet.

Instead of a dire wolf, a regular mantis is also a Sigil option for sideways double hit
You didn't need mantis god on the first boss, since you had a pronghorn in your hand. Pronghorn + Grizzly is 5 damage.

Heck, you could even go for an Urayuli with this strategy if you wanted, although it would be a bit risky. Just try to get Unkillable on your Black Goat asap and keep your deck as small as you can and you're good. Alternatively, you could get Hoarder on your Black Goat, and then all you need to do is just beef up a 3 blood card to be really really powerful and not worry about other cards in your deck, so long as you still avoid 1 blood cards like the plague. If you do this then you'll still always get your Black Goat on your first draw, and then all you need to do is place it down and grab your op 3 blood card. It would be ideal to put unkillable onto this card if you can't manage to increase it's health by a lot. However, if you can get its damage to at least 12, then put Trifurcated Strike on it, that way you can take out 6 whole grizzlies with one turn, then you just need a card to block the remaining 2 grizzlies.
All in all, this strategy might be best to do with the Mantis God starting deck though. Maybe try to back out to the main menu upon loading in and keep encountering the trader until you see a Black Goat and a Grizzly, then you can take your Mantis God and sacrifice it for your Grizzly, and use the ringworm at campfires to make them free. This way you put the powerful sigil on your Grizzly and it's stats are already high. The disadvantage is you need the proper cards to play it, but if you get your Black Goat that shouldn't be a problem, so long as you get rid of your other 1 blood cards. Then just try to power up your Grizzly, either with campfires or by combining dupes. If you can manage to combine 3 grizzlies together then you've already got a board wipe card, and again, just need a card to block the last 2 grizzlies at bosses.
Also to add a note on the bug that happens at 27:30, something similar can happen if you have a card with Bi-Strike or Tri-Strike or even Double Strike, and it dies before it can continue tany remaining attacks. Say your card dies on the first strike because it has 1 health and hits a card that has Sharp Quills, and you have a card with Corpse Eater, so it takes the original card's place. An interesting interaction between multi-hit sigils and Corpse Eater is that the card that is pulled in will continue any remaining attacks. Though I'm not sure this is a bug, it seems almost intentional.

I used to watch you a lot when I was first grinding out the game after launch, but you came in clutch today when I recently got back into the game and wanted to try Kaycee's Mod for the first time and had to finally attempt to beat it with all challenges on!
What I took away from your vid is 1) Not just discourage, but avoid getting any low cost creatures, and just as helpful if not more, 2) Don't try burning my ringworm at my first campfire if I can get a 6dmg mantis!

We know that if you knew it did that you would have played it the way you did the second time. That's a really dumb mechanic. If it's supposed to be that way, that is just one more sigil that is even more trash than we thought.

With that fun interaction you got with trifuricated shot and moving, its the position of the card that continues the attack. For example if you have Corpse Eater on a card in hand and a trifuricated card starts an attack and dies midway through, when the corpse eater card gets placed in its position it will continue the attack despite not having the sigil
I tried using the no cost starter deck and made a deck with no 1 cost cards and no bone cost cards late into the matches. It failed, as I didn't draw my no cost geck (I had gotten rid of both the rabbit and the bullfrog), and got two 2 cost mud turtles. But, since that deck is lizard heavy, one might try the same thing, but with a skink as the 1 cost card. Then if you have the fecundity sigil or the unkillable sigil, you can generate wriggling tails handily, since you'll draw the 1 cost skink and that should be enough to kill all of the grizzlies and most of the battles. Except for the turkey vulture/mole fight...
3rd day of waiting to see a mighty beaver of DOOM
I was having troubles finishing my first challenge, but after watching this and applying this idea to a 5/6 Stoat with Magpie sigils along side having a 14/14 Urayuli with Corpse Eater and a Grizzly that also saw the Mycologist. I don't think the grizzly had any sigils added, but I got the win with the first started deck.

u don't need to explain it, there are so many random factors in that game that determinate the outcome
I tried different ways on kaycees mod with all challanges on, I also beat him, didn't even know if it's possible or supposed to be that way, because of that also was not an official challange with 250/250 points
I tried many times, there are sooooo many random factors that can destroy your deck immediatly, it needs one bad card
you get that at the first hand, and it's over, he will do over 4 dmg, often they had 4 spots with creatures after 1 round
so you have to defeat them always if possible in the first round
i think dire wolf is the best way, 'cause there are more ways with it, which decreases the random factors
take dire wolf, push it through firecamp once, then he has 3 dmg twice on one spot, with scizzors, always insta win, try to hold your deck small as possible, to have the best chance to get him at the start
you can increase your chance, by taking more, or copy them with the green glibber portrait dude, you can also take the little dire wolf which grows after 1 round, you can also take them to fight, take the grow after 1 round symbol on your grown direwolf or merge them
if you have a direwolf which has 6 dmg, or 5 dmg and the grow after 1 round symbol
you dont even need any items, he kill the bears with his first attack, and destroys leshy with the second attack
so if you have a dire wolf with 6 dmg, you are only focus to get the other on 6 too, or to hold your deck small, that you get that card at the beginning or after few rounds
I also got lucky buy that I got the totem with insects recover from death
which make the 0 deck unbelievable strong
because you can now put 3 cards to def, and they always come back to your hand, which allows you to get all your cards from your deck
i copied geck 3 times, if you get 1 you can push the rounds so many along till you have your whole deck in your hands
i didnt even need any items to finish the bosses
but I know that there are sooo many random factors which causes loose, so it's okay dude, you dont need to explain it 😂
imagine how many fight's you have ob the boards before the bosses and how random they can be, especially in kaycees mod

why can you reload a new map after a boss fight, but you can't reload after camp fire, it's save instantly
there are save spots where are you allowed to load, so it's okay when you use them

Unfortunately I did not found any damage campfire before the mushroom, but my mantis had Fecundity. For final pirate boss, I used one of my 3 magpies to get my wild bull (with apple sigil) and sac it for my 2nd mantis -> 7 power / 12 health

Little tip I figured out that the painting can also change the creatures tribe. I figured this out when my wolf had no change, but it was affected by the insect totem.

i tried doing this and after exactly 10 runs i still couldnt get it to work, my ring worm would not die and id give up on the first fight i see, try again, wouldnt die, give up on the first fight i see, try again.. after 4-5 times of that happening i tried putting my mantis god to double buff it and guess what, it dies, of course, then i kept trying to kill the ring worm if it was health and buff my mantis god if it was dmg and i got the worst outcome every time, finally on my 11th run i got it to work but guess what, goobert gave me -1 dmg on my mantis god so it was a 5 2 when i gave it to the mycologist so i couldnt 1 shot the grizzly and i died then gave up for that day, very angry at my luck

The bleach/paint can be insanely powerful! If you have a bleach and a fan you can instawin the wall of grizzlies. Also if you are at a point on the map where you have a choice of where to go like at 25:42 you can always go see what is at one of the locations and then go back to the main menu and come back and choose the other option if you don't like what was there. As long as you don't use the fire or select a head/body it will NOT save! So you don't have to throw all your hopes on that one thing!
Yesterday your video inspired me to do an every challenge except the grizzly run. I succeeded the run but I’m not sure I have the wherewithal to add the grizzly.
grizzlies require more luck, not more skill. you could try to do it once for the credit but it's not a lot of fun.
How do you gain challemge points? The vanilla deck is extremely difficult and I've played it several times with a +5 challenge on but never get points.
this works well the harders part is the first map as if the game decides youre not getting any upgrades you pretty much done
The problem I have with running this category is that it's so RNG based for the first fight. There are a couple ways to do it but they're all dependent on the game being nice to you.
Mantis+insta death+enough health to survive one grizzly attack. Or Mantis with enough power to kill a grizzly+either one turtle shield or a undying totem. You could even try Mantis+power+field mice if you want.
...Not impossible to get any of these but certainly not fun to grind over and over until RNG is nice!
2 other way to do the bear rush is Toutch of death. and a way to spam the board.
or doing 6 dmg and able to tank 4. or deal 12 dmg to 1 bear.
this make the hole lane clear and once the 2 beqrs are dead you should get the win

Update: after MANY unlucky attempts, I brute forced my way through the last battle where I missed the 75% chance to get the mantis in the opening hand by playing pack rat in different situations & then resetting (about 50 times) until I got the item needed to win. 😓 skull storm failed successfully

"I don't want to add 1-costs to the deck" literally cannot apply to that Mantis, because it's already the effect of a Mantis God (triple-attack), which is the card you're trying to get with the Fair-Hand Mechanic. Having more Mantis Gods (or cards which behave exactly like a Mantis God) only increases your deck's efficiency, and avoiding it to use the Fair-Hand Mechanic on Mantis God makes absolutely 0 sense, because you could have had 3 Mantis God-like cards in your deck instead of just 2.

I tried this Strat and the game hates cause the first time around got rid of the first ring worm instantly on health. Then through the entire rest of the game no flame. 2nd attempt Forced to pick a bone cost as the rest were 1 cost except for 1. Got rid of it though instantly. Then the fire got rid of ring worm on health into the rest of the fires only being health no damage. Worst part was there was no sigil transfers in any path for the whole game so the 1 cost ring worm killed me when I had a 2/3 chance at drawing the beefy mantis cause I painted it with still no damage buff. Hit both 1/3 to draw the ring worm in both battles and lost. Game hates me man.
If i got the magpie i put it on one of the ringworm. You can get mantis god plus a bone.
"Not a lucky run" Bruh I just did like 8 runs of this and didn't get a single painting, attack boost campfire, double strike opportunity or pair of scissors. It's not a god run, or anything, but it still requires RNGesus to give you what you need. Haven't gotten the necessary implements to kill the first boss even once.
