HUGE THANKS to ExpressVPN for offering all Food Ranger viewers 3 months free and 49% off their yearly package using this link: ExpressVPN.com/Thefoodranger . Travelers need ExpressVPN to stay safe online and to unblock any site. I personally use it for Netflix, even while at home in Canada, but also while traveling to unblock content and episodes that are geoblocked, and I also use it for security, because airport wifi and hotel wifi is often very insecure, leaving my data vulnerable. By connecting to one of their servers around the world, it’s just like my computer or phone is in that location, and all data sent while connected to their VPN is secure, safe, and private from others to see, so I know that my data won’t be hacked or looked at by others. Thanks so much for watching, and we have tons more videos coming up for you! Please leave me a comment below letting me know what you thought about this episode, thanks so much!!!
Hope you enjoy my first Penang video! This was a lot of fun to make and even better to eat all these snacks! You can follow me on instagram for photos of these food journeys: bit.ly/TheFoodRanger Thanks for watching!
If you are visiting Penang, the food are generally above average, you need not to insist only on the 'famous' one. Penang people take pride in their food, I can assure you, the food that don't make to the mark couldn't survive long. Happy food hunt. ;)
Should you come back to Malaysia, make sure you visit the city of Kuching in East Malaysia, home of the famous Sarawak Laksa that even Anthony Bourdain raved about. Kuching is the capital city of the largest state in Malaysia which is Sarawak. It will feel like you're back in Penang! Also check out Kota Kinabalu, the capital city of the state of Sabah in northen Borneo, East Malaysia.
You must try: Nasi Kandar Jamal Mohamed atau lebih dikenali sebagai Nasi Kandar Pokok Ketapang tepi bangunan TM dekat Jalan Bagan Luar, butterworth, penang memang terbaik... Marbeles... Sempoi bak hang... Rugi hangpa tak try pi makan... Tips: Jangan pi makan time cuti sekolah, kalau pi jugak, hangpa kene beratur dekat setengah jam baru boleh amek nasi... #KampungKu #JalanMohdSaad #JaMoSa #BaganJermal #AnakAntu #ANT369
Whenever think of Penang, hmmm thinking of nasi kandar kayu, mee udang sungai dua, Laksa Penang, Kuih Pulau Pinang.. and yes going back Penang this coming Friday cousin wedding to attend.tks fr d video..missing Penang..
I'm from sungai dua and my bff's family opened a Mee Undang restaurant...My house located behind a mee udang restaurant. My grandmother's house is opposite a mee udang restaurant. Sungai Dua life XD
Bijaan Jiwani watching this is like watching porn but gives more pleasure ;) i can feel the smell of the food too , and im hungry again because of these videos :)
I discovered your channel 3 days ago, and I haven't stopped watching it since. I love your honest and unpretentious reaction to food and I love how you rate the dishes that you tasted. You mentioned that Anthony Bourdain is your big brother, is that a fact? I have been an avid fan of Anthony for years. I only saw one video with his brother Chris when he visited Uruguay.
+pangga7 Sure it's a fact. Their dad is actually Andrew Zimmern, but unfortunately Trevor got disowned and was sent off to the Canadian wildness - it's something Bourdain doesn't like to talk about much. On his way to visit his uncle in London, Gordon Ramsay, he got stuck in Asia and the rest is history, as they say. True story.
When eating with your hands you should only use your right as the left hand is considered to be used when wiping in the bathroom. Love the video char kway teo is also one of my favs!
Sophie Raith If you use your left hand in the bathroom, do not use it for eating food. If you use your right hand in bathroom, then use left when eating. I eat with my right hand since I'm right handed
aisyah1707sf ***** it can't be ayam percik because ayam percik is never eaten with chapati? Chapatis are usually eaten with curry. I'm guessing it might have been chicken curry, but cooked in northern indian way. the sauce/gravy is not too thick, and its usually either red or slightly orange-ish.
Hi Trevor, recent sub here... I watched your videos before coming to Penang to get a sense of the amazing cuisine. I ate 4 out of 5 recommendations at the very same eateries in this video, and like you, thoroughly enjoyed them. Thank you for doing all the legwork so that we may sample the very best without disappointment. Unfortunately there isn't enough time left for me to try the made-to-order Indian food at Sri Ananda but it will be on my list for next time. Huge endorsements of your recommendations and appreciate the unpretentious attitude and your honest reviews. Many thanks! Irene 😉👍
+Irene Moggan Hi Irene!! WOW! Thank you so much for that, that's great to hear! I'm glad you found the food tasty as well! mmm mmm! That's so nice to hear, thank you!
I use have to say that I am a huge fan of yours. You're one of my absolute favorite food RUclipsrs. You inspire me to travel the globe and enjoy the worlds cuisine. I can only dream to experience what you have :)
Being away from home and watching your food videos really make me salivate....Now I can't wait to go back home and eat the 'char kuey tiaw' in my hawker stall :)
the best thing about asians , india and arabs food that it mix both of vegetarian food and meats in the same time and the flavour is insane + the best part its cheap :)
Cool video! I just got back from a 10 day KL and Penang trip. I stumbled upon CF food court between visiting Chew Jetty and Lebuh Armenian, the Chur Kuay Teow stand now has your photo on it!
You should visit indonesia. Explore the delicious foods from west indonesia (sumatra foods) central indonesia (java foods, balinese foods) until east indonesian (manado foods, makasar foods, molucas foods & papua foods). Indonesia is the largest archipelago country in the world. The country where the best spices came from for long long time ago. Each islands in Indonesia has diversity of style and taste. You must go there & explore them for the word. Terima kasih food ranger :)
I feel so glad to watch such this video. Although I am a Malaysian but I still do not try to taste some other Malaysian cuisines. However, I would like to suggest you in future that you may come again to Malaysia and taste the Malaysian east coast cuisines as well as the Sabah and Sarawak's cuisines. There are many more varieties.
Great to see what you have been up to Trevor! I was just in Malaysia, and agree that it was some of the best food anywhere! We could not get enough Roti!
Whoa! You're Anthony B's younger brother? Wife and I love his shows. You're much easier going and less opinionated and happier but we love you both just the same. Good stuff as always. Subscribed!
This new series of videos is popping up all over the place! I'm not complaining, I just hope I'm not missing anything. I'm allergic to fish! Just the kind that swim. So you'll understand why I'm such a big fan of Original, Famous Katong Laksa (from S'Pore). It starts with a cockle broth, not fish. Lots of coconut curry added and big chunks of shellfish and egg noodles. If you get to Singapore, Katong (on the East Coast Road) is worth seeking out. Many nonya , Indonesian, northern Chinese cuisines on offer as well.
Trevor, I am surprised you are not in commercials! Your expressions really tell the story about how the food you are eating tastes! Love the videos! Keep it up brother!
Just been to Sri Ananda Bahwan off the back of watching this and got to say it was top-notch! The mutton vindaloo was excellent as was the prawn masala. How did you find the heat level? we thought it could have been hotter but maybe they toned it down for us Ferrang!
Thanks for the video! I was today at the Indian restaurant (but at another location, on the northern beach, and before watching your video) and i was the best Indian dish i ever had (i had Indian food several times in India ...). Will try the shrimp curry next time.
+Martin Lasarsch Wow, Martin, thank you for that, I'm happy that you went to the same indian restaurant as me, and that you also feel that it was the best Indian food ever! I have never had Indian food that delicious (although I haven't been to India yet), and I could tell that this place was really the best!!!
I'm going to Borneo next summer, can't wait to look out for these dishes! :D Love your videos, I have finally found someone who gets as excited by food as I do!
Hmmm love your video, make my mouthwatering especially asam laksa. I suggest if you ever make a trip back to Penang again, you should try Air Itam asam laksa. It is the best and the most famous asam laksa in Penang.
I think you should come over to Singapore and try the food too, I would recommend eating the hokkien mee, BBQ stingray and the hainanese chicken rice! Good day!
