What i love about this is how perfectly foreshadowed it was. Them being so excited about the fire, then mentioning the flue was giving them trouble, Marisha openly saying she hopes the chimney doesn't catch fire, and then the tension slowly racks up until they have to sit on the floor just to avoid the smoke- God, it's just... *chef's kiss* it's perfect
Watching this reminds me of the fact that both Marisha and Matt grew up in the south (Kentucky and Florida, respectively, I believe). Yeah, they've probably never used a fireplace in their lives before.

Finally started watching CR after the show in Austin. I am currently 12 episodes into the 1st season and listen while grading assignments. They are helping keep this teacher sane while long distance learning and I cannot thank them enough! I had a flue do this once, and it made this entire bit even funnier. I'm sitting at home, coming back from a grocery run before a snowstorm. It's flurrying now, the snowflakes getting bigger by the minute. I get a chill, and I went to see if the fireplace is good. I had a flashback of watching this live. I am now under 2 blankets, away from my unlit fireplace.

I had literally just finished watching this when my little black and white cat appeared round the door. Except she wasn’t black and white she was just black, with a soot trail leading back downstairs to the living room hearth. Gave her a bath and the only good that came of that is that we now both look like chimney sweeps
