I’ve had the Audi Q3 40TDI Vorsprung since June 19. I’ve had many cars, but frankly, this is the best. Not wishing to tempt providence, but nothing has gone wrong. Everything still works. It is averaging 37 mpg (6.36 l/100 km), which considering is quite good. Adaptive cruise control & lane keeping assist are crucial for a constant motorway driver. The leather seats still look new. The B&O stereo is awesome and the boot swallows my camping gear whole. It has held 65% of it’s value. When the lease period expires this June, will I buy it outright? You betcha, no brainer!
Just bought a new x1, very pleased, I looked at all 3 of the others but the x1 just felt better quality and design, only the poor bottle holders and lack of small storage drawer could of been better otherwise excellent all round

I just got the new X1 (18i) with the M sport package. I had the previous X1 version. Overall, I can say that it’s a completely different car, in every aspect. Almost like night and day when comparing both generations. Very sporty when you need it, and very confortable!
@@GeorgeS-l4n Well we have had the E84 (18d) and then 2 different models of the F48, first the 20i and now we have the 25e. Everyone has been a major stepup, even from the 20i to 25e as newer model. I dont doubt a single second that the U11 is as big stepup as from the E84 to F48. That step was HUGE.
I agree with your assessment. I ordered the iX1. We only had an X1 for test driving but the interior is basically identical and it was similar enough to make the decision. The iX1 is going to be faster than the X1 we drove and who can go past having Hans "Zimmer In Your Bimmer".
I have had my X1 18d s drive M Sport for over a month now and it’s a very capable car. Great driving position and fantastic handling. The only thing I don’t like is the new operating system is not as easy to use as my old 320i touring also I find the driving modes a bit gimmicky but apart from that it’s a brilliant vehicle.
Super great video! 3 hours of review!! This is a record I guess! Personally, I am Not a fan of BMW’s comfort level. I drove x3 and 228i. The seats are killing my lower back. X3’s is more tolerable but I expect a much better seat from a luxury compact SUV. I hope the latest generation offers some improvement on that. Recently, I picked Volvo and ordered an XC40 ultimate for how comfortable the seats and the ride are, and the safety features/records of the brand offers. It will be my EDC for the next few years. So comfortable ride for long hour driving and top safety are the top priority. Driving dynamic, acceleration and handling are more than adequate for how I use it everyday. When your seat is hurting your butt, the handling, acceleration and driving dynamic becomes meaningless. Coz all you want is to get out as soon as possible.
looks like all 4 of them needs final touches for exterior designes. For interiors, I am an audi fan but I really hate that gear selector. It is killing the premium look.
I actually have to make the choice. Currently driving a Q3 sportback but need to change. Its either Q3, XC40, or X1. But the latter has long delivery time so out and price wise a little too much. The Volvo XC40 is best priced because its complete. With the Audi, you have to be carefull because all nice features you need to select otherwise they will not put it in. That is something that actually sucks about Audi (also VW). So thanks Thomas for putting these four reviews together. Any choice will be good, it will come to fine details and of course to the cents.😅

I had the XC40 lovely car and so fun to drive! I traded it for a Lexus NX hybrid and although the fuel economy is marvelous I miss the Volvo, nothing exciting about the NX bigger for sure but I felt the Volvo felt bigger, I might trade it for BMW X1 it looks really nice and fun! Not sure if I would get a XC40 just cause now it feels a bit outdated in comparison to the bmw
Why are tyres so large on these vehicles? They look good, though not always, but spoil the ride and are expensive. Would be interesting if you did a video on this Tomas.
Bigger wheels in general don't make sense in that the wheel arches cut into luggage space. But it's a combination of fashion and profit. Having low profile tyres on my BMW 320 I'd never do it again -not for the comfort so much as the noise they make when you scrape them against a kerb when parking. It's an expensive sound.
Love it will probably order it but as an Etron 55 owner with virtual mirrors. Please Polestar put glass in the back with a standard rear view mirror !!!
Hi Tom! Great comparison thoses SUVs, it will help some people do better decision to buy new car. All cars are produced with details, and buyer will search something for itself from this comparision. Maybe also good topic for movie is about prices new cars, some forecast, short interview with car sales / cars producer - what they think ( from inside of the market ), are they can produce cheaper car, why price are so highy ( In my opinion ). It will help understand market, why some price of new car will rised 20%-30% or more.

I just ordered a 24 20i with the msport and msport pro packages. I cant wait for the pro seats which just became available, in the alcantara finish. Im just really torn between the mineral white and the frozen grey. anyone have the frozen grey? is it as sensitive as they say? I love the mineral so no real loss either way. Thanks.

MB has been the innovator in technology, comfort and reliability. The rest have been playing a catch-up game. These comparisons should be done after 300,000 km. Ofcourse depends how they have been looked after. But generally, in Finlands harsh arctic weather, MB has been the clear winner. Especially diesels even after 600,000 km run perfectly. A tribute to German engineering! True, the XC 40 is the best looking "SUV"!

Because whoever owned one knows its not a premium! Even Volvo is questionable nowdays with new series. You could count Lexus as premium, and Genesis based on my experience.
I’ve owed 4 BMWs and they only needed routine maintenance. That “they always need to be repaired” stuff comes from individuals who got cars out of their price range. Just my opinion though.🤷🏾♂️

You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. They can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even from plant-based materials (like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum). Or the Polestar 3 e.g. is using pine oil. And even if you still create a leatherette seat the classic way with petroleum base without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is very little in comparison to how much oil is used for other car parts or how much oil is burned for fuel or heating. I found the BMW X1 to be the best when it comes to customization and mitigating the cost. You can really fine tune a custom package that will fit your budget. When trying to add options with audi and mercedes the price really sky rockets quickly.
Thanks a lot for the review. I've ordered x1 M sport xdrive23i as well. One thing is I read so many other reviewers saying X1 got some hesitation when going from stop or traffic. Did you felt any when compared?
@@autogefuehl okay, happy to hear that you didn't had that. It's mainly noticeable when in economy mode and won't notice it when in sport mode is what they say. Hopefully BMW could sort that out if there is. Also one other thing, X1 might infotainment might get iDrive9 Android Based update in this year as per CES 2023. Fingers crossed!
I think there is one another HUGE benefit to x1- trunk size. It is 540L which is nearly same as 550L on x3 and largest among all of those cars Also hybrid x1 u11 trunk is 490L, which is a lot compared to other hybrids! (X3 hybrid g01 = 450L, x5 45e g05 = 500L!) While acceleration of x1 30e y11 is as fast as fastest g05 45e g05! 5.6sec 0-100 😅 while all with air resistance of bmw 4 series = 0.26 I (think MB gla glc is about 0.32-0.35 = alot less efficient)
Realized I said xc40 LOL, I MEANT TO SAY C40 recharge even tho it’s electric , I only went with it bc I love the xc40 but had some issues with it, but the c40 had the things that improved/fixed them
As a fan of alfa I think that tonale well deserved to be a fair competitor...Although I own the bmw x3 2015 it can never replace the joy I got driving my previous 156 and brera...

I can't really decide between Q3 and volvo... I am leaning towards volvo though, does it feel over all better?

What you said around 28:00 about the steering i know what you mean but dont agree that its not in the bigger ones, i felt exactly same thing with x3 on highway that hey whats up with the steering why is it so weird - found it difficult to stay centered in lane on long drive and wondered how can bmw with so much R&D and testing end up with final results like that esp when making cars for so many years i just dont understand it - thanks for your amazing reviews

Has the Head-Up Display the same size and functions like the other BMW Models like 3-Series or higher? Is the projection in the disc identical and exactly nice and big?
19-21 wheels, big front surface all not great for fuel consumption. But at least the mirrors are extra streamlined on the BMW 😂
I'm looking very closely at the iX1 when the lease (because I wanted to test/experience the electric side) on my Active Tourer 225e ends.
The Volvo looks great. Mercedes was the biggest letdown.

I just ordered a 24 20i with the msport and msport pro packages. I cant wait for the pro seats which just became available, in the alcantara finish. Im just really torn between the mineral white and the frozen grey. anyone have the frozen grey? is it as sensitive as they say? I love the mineral so no real loss either way. Thanks.
BMW please listen: I NEED ventilated seats, yeah I know it's gross but in summer I get a sweaty back! Please Autogefuhl try to communicate this with BMW, I would rather have this then heated/massage or anything!
Get a Hyundai Tucson or Kia Sportage...they have a lot of options (including ventilated seats) and very good value for money.

MB has been the innovator in technology, comfort and reliability. The rest have been playing a catch-up game. These comparisons should be done after 300,000 km. Ofcourse depends how they have been looked after. But generally, in Finlands harsh arctic weather, MB has been the clear winner. Especially diesels even after 600,000 km run perfectly. A tribute to German engineering! True, the XC 40 is the best looking "SUV"!

Because whoever owned one knows its not a premium! Even Volvo is questionable nowdays with new series. You could count Lexus as premium, and Genesis based on my experience.
I think Land Rover believes that Evoque is in the class of x3, GLC, xc60 and so on.

I’ve owed 4 BMWs and they only needed routine maintenance. That “they always need to be repaired” stuff comes from individuals who got cars out of their price range. Just my opinion though.🤷🏾♂️

The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment.
You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. They can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even from plant-based materials (like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum). Or the Polestar 3 e.g. is using pine oil. And even if you still create a leatherette seat the classic way with petroleum base without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is very little in comparison to how much oil is used for other car parts or how much oil is burned for fuel or heating. So it is the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable.

Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the priority use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down or even murdered on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse?
We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
Q3 is ugly interior and ugly exterior
I found the BMW X1 to be the best when it comes to customization and mitigating the cost. You can really fine tune a custom package that will fit your budget. When trying to add options with audi and mercedes the price really sky rockets quickly.

Also one other thing, X1 might infotainment might get iDrive9 Android Based update in this year as per CES 2023. Fingers crossed!

I think there is one another HUGE benefit to x1- trunk size. It is 540L which is nearly same as 550L on x3 and largest among all of those cars
Also hybrid x1 u11 trunk is 490L, which is a lot compared to other hybrids! (X3 hybrid g01 = 450L, x5 45e g05 = 500L!)
While acceleration of x1 30e y11 is as fast as fastest g05 45e g05! 5.6sec 0-100 😅 while all with air resistance of bmw 4 series = 0.26 I (think MB gla glc is about 0.32-0.35 = alot less efficient)

Realized I said xc40 LOL, I MEANT TO SAY C40 recharge even tho it’s electric , I only went with it bc I love the xc40 but had some issues with it, but the c40 had the things that improved/fixed them
