    this trade is crazy...
Still can't believe Andrew Friedman pulled this off.
Dodgers traded ZERO minor leaguers or prospect. I repeat...ZERO prospects!!
In the aftermath of all these trades they kept Lux, May, Gonsolin, Ruiz, Downs, & Gray. That’s impressive.
And received the best player in baseball not named Trout in a contract year.
Plus Dodgers not paying entire contract for Price.
+ Dodgers get infield depth in Luis Rengifo from Angels and salary relief from Boston.
    😳

Il Des デス lol, I’m a huge Dodger fan and you’re exactly right. Only thing is Verdugo was one of the best prospects from our system and turned out to be pretty good his first year. Now he’s no Betts obviously but yes, Friedman was extremely patient and that was the key. He’s been so good on keeping our core talent from our farm and did not budge!

    My Prediction for every player BA: Betts .310 +25HR, Muncy .270 +30HR, Turner .290 +20HR, Bellinger .300 +35HR Seager .300 +20HR(within top 3 leading in doubles), Pollock(if healthy) .275 +20HR, rookies if Can live up the hype: Lux .290 +20HR, Smith .280 +20HR
Pitchers era: Buehler under 3.00 +250 SO, Kershaw (if Can lay-off FB) just near 3.00 near 200 SO. Urias 3.00 +150 SO, May 3.50 200 SO, Gonsolin 3.20 200 SO, Wood (pontetial) 3.10 +150 SO, Price(bounce back?) 3.50 +200 SO.

ApparentlyEric offense looks like a video game honestly. Not all of them are injury prone like the Yankees just stating facts. Yes pitchers can be higher but even if most can pitch 3.50 era or lower with this offense we should be winning a lot of the games. Just ridiculous. The reason I put those era on each of them cause they still have pontential bounce backs specially on Kershaw and woods. Rookies will have to step up and try to live up the hype as well.

For those of you complaining about Betts turning down $300 Million for 10 years, this should explain it:
    1. Mookie Betts had 4 gold gloves, an MVP, 3 silver sluggers and is a 4x all star (career BA of .301). He has a career WAR of 42.0 after 6 seasons. Mike Trout had a WAR of 47.5 after his first 6 season. What Im trying to say is the second best player in all of baseball is Mookie Betts. If Mike Trout got 12 year at $430 Why would Betts take a 10-12 year contract worth $300?
    2. To put this into perspective, Manny Machado got 10 yrs @$300 and Harper got 13 yrs @ $330. Betts has better numbers and accolades than both players and hes a year younger with two less seasons under his belt. He also has a better WAR than both players. You are low-balling the second best player in the league especially when there are players out there would arent in that stratosphere getting paid. i would have started at $360 and go from there.
    3. If this still doesnt make sense, Think of it like this. Jeff Bezos of Amazon is the richest man in the world with $114 Billion, Bill Gates is the second richest with $106 Billion, Next is Warren Buffet at $80 billion and Mark Zuckerberg at $69 Billion. Mike Trout and Mookie Betts are Jeff and Bill and then there is everyone else.

It pisses me off when people act short sighted by saying John Henry is a billionaire so he should just pay. The red Sox payroll even after letting Holt Porcello and every single free agent walk except for Moreland was at 240 million. Over the highest tax threshold for the 3rd consecutive year. Henry might have paid the tax and kept it there but the team didn't have any value to show for that kind of money. There's no bullpen, no backup catcher after Leon trade, no outfield depth somehow mookie Bradley or benintendi never got hurt, no notable 2nd baseman and NO FARM SYSTEM. No prospects so you can't improve the team by trades. If you spend your payroll goes up to 250-260 million yeah Henry can afford it but so can the dodgers and Yankees. Why the fuck do those teams try staying fiscally responsible ? Because it's smart you have payroll flexibility red Sox have none of that. Many holes in the team with a payroll at 240 and no farm system. This is mainly on one person and his name is Dave Dombrowski the man has gutted this team for one championship and is now gonna enjoy life.

Yash yep...they spend an obscene amount and have won 4 times in 15 years. Fans/Reporters feel entitled to 100% of a teams revenue stream. Kay as well being smart by saying rich people don't like paying taxes. It's not just the tax they're missing out on first round pricks ffs. Red Sox can't trade their best players easily coz they're on absurd amount of money every year they're over the threshold they're losing draft picks. What is Henry supposed to do ? No one understands how big of a mistake this is for the Dodgers. Simply put, the Dodgers were gonna make the postseason whether you like it or not. However, their weaknesses have always been the bullpen. By not making a move for the pen, it's gonna be the same old story for the Dodgers. Dave Roberts blows a lead by making a mistake in the pen. Why didn't they use his last years rankings. Or rankings from the past three years. They picked two years of stats, because that includes his MVP season, but not his .264 year. Betts feasts on bad pitching, but based on his .227 avg, 1 HR, and 4 RBI's in his playoff career, good pitching eats him up. He also lacks opposite field power. For a guy that is asking for Mike Trout type money, he is nowhere near the talent that Trout is.

An angle that people don't seem to be considering. Because the Sox traded Price along with Betts, they are in a better position to resign Betts after 2020. If they're paying half of Price's contract, they could actually take it up the ass and give in to Betts' $42 million salary demand next year and still be $4 million BETTER OFF than they would have been paying Mookie $30 million while holding onto Price. So this trade actually puts them in a better position to resign Betts AND gets them under the tax threshold. Not only that, but Betts' contract value could go down after playing a year away from the friendly confines of Fenway and in the spacious LA park. This deal is starting to look better and better for the Sox the more I look at it.

That player would be making just under 6% of the total team revenue.... which is a lot, but not insane considering the amount of skill required to play the game of baseball. MLB players are not "replaceable" unlike most professions where there are millions of other people who could take your spot without significantly compromising performance. So if the owners want to keep producing $600 million products on the field, they will pay players a lot to do so.... and as long as fans continue to pay top dollar for MLB entertainment, the owners will continue to have an incentive to pay players lots of money. That's how the world works: it's not based on what jobs are important or anything of that nature. Society and jobs are structured to make monetary sense... not to be ethically sound.

Exactly. No one deserves those big contracts The Sox had to stay under the luxury tax and so did the angels in which the joc trade did not happen. Lets not ignore the facts that the angels payroll is massive this year.

I’ll laugh my ass off if both of these teams fail in the postseason.Hopefully those teams who beat them will be investigated for sign stealing.

Should've gotten more out of this trade for Red Sox. It's a bad way to start rebuilding. Will they lose Martinez and Bogaerts next?

If Sale is still hurt, the Red Sox might have the worst rotation in baseball...

Mookie was a 275 hitter on the road and a 314 hitter at home. I think the Red Sox knew, with all the cheating for the title in 2018, that his performance was impacted by it.

Mookie batted 295 last season and verdugo batted 294. They are the same player for way different prices. And David price was terrible. The Red Sox getting rid of him only decreased their payroll to help them out.

The Dodgers are just a pay to win team and it's annoying... They breeze through the regular season just to choke in the post season.

Yeah, about that, last postseason (2019) the dodgers team was the most homegrown team in the playoffs. That’s growth not buying.

They got more Boston agents that killed them. Lakers always knew how not to trust those from Boston.

Did cheating help Bett's stats? I hope not as a Dodger fan. Hope he has his greatest year ever. If he leaves after delivering greatness that's fine.

Yes but the players have been cheating so who says really how good are they really.
hey are as good as they have been
This year all eyes are watching o now we will see who is actually OOspot or great.
Maybe the Red Sox are dumbing rather than love the cheating players.
