@@jlmartinez8482 Mookie is not overrated. For his career his BA is .301, averaging 26Hr, 42 Doubles, 90 RBI, 115 Runs, 22 SB/yr and he's won a gold glove the past four seasons. He doesn't have the power of Yaz, Rice, Manny or Papi (Manny was clearly the best hitter since Williams) while Yaz and Lynn were also excellent fielders, none were superior to Betts. Nomar was probably most similar in his first 4 seasons as a starter, but didn't have the speed or glove of Mookie. Why sell the guy short? He is a five tool demon on the field and a joy to watch. You can fairly argue he's the best player out there, after Trout, and back it up with facts. The Red Sox ownership let him go solely for financial reasons when they could afford to keep him. Nobody knows what the future holds as far as injuries or longevity, but his talent is undeniable. The Yankees would have never let such a player go. The Sox discarded Francona, Orsillo and now the biggest loss, Betts. It really hurts.
@@tuckerrobbins9592 We have/do. I still can't believe this deal was done; especially since Mookie has stated that he did in fact want to stay in Boston.
Nobody mentions that once the reset of the penalty happens that the Red Sox are just as in play as any other team to sign Mookie next off-season. If they offered him a 10/$400 extension now they may not get back under the threshold for the duration of that contract. All I'm saying is convince yourself to play the long game. Summer evenings in New England are really nice. Maybe go outside instead of switching on NESN for a summer.
I think Mookie is a great player...like him alot. But if asked: would I trade him straight up for Aaron Judge?, another great young RF, my answer would be: no. Or Trout, to compare him to another great OF. Mookie is a hell of a player, but stop calling this guy the next Willie Mays.....I wouldn't trade anyone for Willie Mays in his prime.
Can't agree with being the best Red Sox player since Ted Williams......... Are we talking strictly hitters? There was this guy named Clemens who was kind of good... Just saying. I wouldn't put Mookie in the HOF yet......... If Mookie plays until he is 43 and has nearly 3,500 hits then we can say he is better than Yaz. Oh wait he won't need to play until he is 43 because he will have probably over $400 millions dollars come his next contract.
if the fact that the dodgers can get 2 allstars for ess. nothing explains whats wrong with baseball. What about the rockies, giants, dbacks and padres? Your telling them the division is over and we havent played a game, this trade should of been denied by a commish.. Small market teams stand no chance in a broken mlb with no cap..love the game hate the outdated baseball system, who have learned nothing from the king of sports, the NFL! Have a hard cap and every team dont matter if your in greenbay or newyork you have the same chance to win...without a cap baseball will continue to slide into oblivion its 4th now and likely will go down more
Funny how Jeff and Rich do not even bother to reference the fact that "Mookie" is from that same 2018 team that "cheated" the Dodgers in the World Series. Funny how those questions fall to the side!!
@@slundgr He told Jim Rice he wanted to stay, but ownership was too damn cheap to pay him what he was worth, why even own a baseball team if you trade a Mookie Betts?!?!?!?!?!?

Imagine Mookie Betts. Now imagine Mookie Betts in a contract year.
Now, imagine Mookie Betts without an Apple Watch. XD

I feel for Boston. I really like Mookie. Gratz to the Dodgers.
Sox fan here. Mookie was a special one, once in a lifetime. Enjoy him dodger fans

Dodgers all the way 2020
John Amarillas As a Dodger fan, I really love this new look of the team, but I feel like they’re just gonna break our hearts again in 2020.
Pixelated PEKKA never lose hope
Puro Doyers!!!
Saying Mookie is a better player than Yaz, Ortiz and Manny after 6 seasons is not only presumptuous, but ignorant as well.

Keep telling yourself that!
Betts over Yaz?
Aj pollock is not an allstar. He's more accurately described as a bum
Jeff Passan was right. 😝
Blame the eovaldi contract. Huge mistake
Glad dodgers got rid of eovaldi

Chris Black that’s because the Red Sox haven’t been found guilty of anything except winning the World Series
I got a feeling hes not gonna do very well without knowing which pitch is coming....Cough...Cora!
Damn sox still team of century though
That’s funny
This is crap, Mookie should've been red sox for life
What if Betts didn't want to be a Red Sox for life but wanted to go free agent?
