Starting with players and going up the latter, it should be NO LESS than these punishments:
Players get 80 games for a positive PED test. Players involved should get at least that length of a suspension.
Masterminds behind it, whether it was just Hinch or Cora and Beltran or the GM, whoever, should be BANNED FOR LIFE. That has been the punishment for less serious infractions.
Any high ranking member who knew about it but was not directly involved should get a year suspension for covering it up.
Jim Crane should be fined $50 million just like Michael Kay said.
In terms of the organization, they should be stripped of the 2017 title, and any other championships (the pennant and AL west), no international signing bonus money, and loss of draft picks for the next 3 years.

I remember the commentators in the 2017 World Series saying Yu Darvish was tipping his pitches. Now we know they were stealing the pitches. I couldn't believe how on the ball they were.
But that last game was in LA. I couldn’t see him tipping pitches (there could be something small) but what I did see were pitches being right down the middle.
But to LA fans defense, games where Astros were at home, there was definitely cheating.

This is completely different than PED violations, this isn’t an individual act. The whole team likely knew about the situation and ultimately benefitted. Regardless if some didn’t partake, their success was based upon their cheating. Strip them of their title, take away Altuve’s MVP award, and suspend Cora/Beltran/Hinch for a year. Every single player should be fined their bonus from winning the world series.
This one seems fairly straightforward to me. Review every game. Every game in which cheating was evident automatically becomes an "L". Every batter at the plate when it happens, gets that AB counted as a strikeout. Evidence of it happening during the playoffs, automatic series loss. Recalculate all player, coach, and organizational bonuses.. pay restitution the teams who were cheated against with that $$. My family and I are watching how the MLB reacts here and our patronizing of the sport going forward will be determined by MLB doing what is right here.
not really that straight forward. how would that impact the whole season? its not just the world series/playoffs. What about the rest of the season? What if the astros don' t make it to the playoffs with the review of the games? If they dont' some one else will, and how will that pan out? If another team would have made it to teh playoffs then, what happens? Do you replay those games with the would have been winners? You should....but when. In the offseason. in spring training..with players that were not in those respective teams? its not that simple

The problem with players getting suspensions is that the MLBPA will support them no matter what, if MLBPA decides to fight it till the fullest, it can get ugly and lengthy.

Also they cheated the entire season and, I believe, still cheated just as much in 2019. They were doing it during the ALCS. As a lifelong Fan of Baseball and the Dodgers I cant even begin to express the rage I feel towards the Astros organization. They stole something from all of Baseball and the fan-bases of all the American League teams in the playoffs that year as well as the Dodgers and the fanbases of those teams in the 2017 Post Season and World Series. I remember growing up watching the big red machine and dreaded when they played the Dodgers and always admired Charley Hustle (for those of you who don't know that was Pete Rose's Nickname). I remember MLB announcing a lifetime ban for Pete Rose for Gambling on the game because it could be perceived as cheating even though he never bet against the team he managed. The 1919 White Sox known as the Black Sox were also banned as a team for cheating despite Shoeless Joe Jackson's performance. Its obvious that cheating is not in the spirit of baseball, Americas pastime. With that being said we have a definite precedent here which shows the Players, Management and Executive office all participated in CHEATING in order to STEAL a American League Pennant and a World Series in 2017. The integrity of the game has been defiled by the Astros organization as a whole, they are the brown smear that Commisioner Manfred has to deal with. The Red Sox were caught using Apple watches in 2017 and commissioner Manfred made it known that no further cheating would be tolerated, yet we have the trAsHtros as an organizatoion blatantly disregarding that order. The players were aware, we know that because they all benefited from the Trash Can Banging, whistling and hands up hands down signals, yet not one of them came forward. The Data on the splits of home Vs Away games can't be ignored. The Coaching staff didn't step up and say no the internal email that suggested that they should explore ways to steal signs. The Penalty should not only be forfeiting the World Series title, but on their return to LA to play the Angels they should be ordered to take that exact trophy to Los Angeles and those who were on the team should appear in Dodger stadium as a group made to apologize and to deliver the World Series trophy to the Dodgers. In addition they should return their rings as well as any awards they earned that year. Also, the American League Pennant should be taken down and given to the Yankees personally. The players all involved cheated, this sounds harsh but all should get Lifetime Bans from baseball, The Coaching staff as well. The owner should be fined 60 million dollars which is what a MLB Franchise on average earns in revenue from a World Series Title. The owner should be banned from any involvement like they did with the 49'ers in football. The Astros should also as well lose 1st round draft picks for 5 years, no international signing for 3 years and banned from the playoffs for the next 3 years. This is the only way that the message will get across. The game has been Defiled by the Astros, they are the fecal smeared underwear of Baseball, this is the only way to make things right.
When you were born in Houston and only know the Astros for your entire life and had to be the voice of reason to everyone here that they cheated. My relative just told me today that “the mlb is now looking to see if the Astros really cheated” not knowing that it is proven real that they did and are moving on to punishment.
What difference does it make if the Astros cheated if there were other teams doing the same thing? Why they aren't keeping the same energy with the Yankees and the Red Sox?

They should of just reversed the signs based on the count. So a 1-1 count would be an EVEN count, a 1-0 count would be an ODD count. Odd counts reverse the signs. You can mix up the even odd ratio and everyone would get destroyed who stole signs
I say let them play but don't pay them for a whole season, any of them. That should send a message not to cheat. And if the players don't want to play, end their contract.

Put the 3 years of cheating into context, 2017-2019. They came within 6 total Wins of winning 3 World Series in a row. So for anyone who doesn't think the advantage was that much your a fool. If anybody else was told you could know in 50% of your season ABs if an offspeed pitch is coming they'd say we're be superhuman. And their stats vs offspeed pitches backs it up.

3 million dollar team fine, loss of draft and international picks for 5 years, GM/Manager is banned from MLB for 5 years, loss of playoffs for 3 years, unless you wish to admit your wrongs; if you won a pennant or World Series you must also vacate the banner as well as admission, than you get playoffs back.
The GM/Manager can also lesson the 5 year ban down to 3 years upon admission of guilt. If the prime owner admits guilt the team loss of draft/international picks are only 2 years, the prime owner relinquishes 51% ownership of team to MLB for 2 years, but playoff ban is null and void, and ownership is restored after 2 years.
If any prime owner is deemed guilty of the knowledge of cheating w/o admission, the team is to be sold and all domestic/international pick and bans remain in effect for 5 years as well as the 3 year playoff ban.
Strip the Astros of the 2017 WS Title. They clearly 100% cheated their way to the WS Title. Ban every Astros coach and the manager from MLB and suspend every player for 1 year and fine them enough where it hurts.

1st off, there was no credible evidence in deflate gate. 2nd that was the equivalent of using pine tar in baseball. I think the Astros batting stats make this one of the most damning cases of cheating in sports, along the lines of doping in the Olympics. They were among the worst in the league in strikeout % prior to 2017, and then all of a sudden became on the the best.
