      @The_Timinator 2 года назад +1

      I've found that Cooked Beans, Lentils, Black Eyed Peas, Butter Beans, Lima etc. have a weird soggy texture like, imagine mashed potatoes in a Quiche', NOT very good... I know I tried, the leftover Beans in a Quiche are DISGUSTING. and I made the Black Eyed Peas with Bacon the day before, that texture made me spit out the Quiche and there was barely 5 spoonful's of beans in the Quiche, you'd be better off making Refried Beans for a Burrito with the leftover Beans. Broccoli, Tomatoes, Asparagus, Mushrooms, Onions, Corn, Spinach, Peppers, work the best for a Quiche'. A Quiche' cooks in about 40 minutes, so everything you add to it needs to cook in LESS time, the last 15 minutes of cook time is the Rise from the Milk and Eggs, if you have something that's NOT cooked in 30 minutes, your ingredient probably won't be cooked either.

      @@The_Timinator true, but I did mention beans after all, so I questioned it. I agree it does not sound as if beans would work in a quiche. That is a very sound share, and good to know definitely, as the more I use beans, the more I wonder where and how they can be used.

      I recommend chatting with the employees, especially supervisors, at your local grocery stores. Ask them when they have big sales, and if they have any sales on particular things at particular times.
      I don't know if it's because we live in an area (Michigan) that has a lot of produce grown and canned here, but a couple of our local small grocery chains have big canned good sales every autumn. So every autumn I pick up literally cases of the items that are on sale that we use.
      So when I'm making something, if I need vegetables, I can always go down to the basement for a can of green beans, corn, or tomatoes. When I make a big pot pie, I almost always add a can or two of bargain veg. Adding two cans of vegetables adds another serving to the big pot pie or stew.

The fact that it's supposed to be cheaper to cook at home makes my stomach cringe thinking how much it's costing the people now who aren't able to spend the time making their own meals. I am honestly fearing we're entering another Depression. We're even getting prepared in case our older daughters need to return back home and we all will have to live under the same roof again and pool our money as a family just in case it becomes impossible for everyone to live on their own. Sure. I made the breakfast casserole today. I added green chili seasoning and cheese to top. Delish. Will be a new family favorite. Thanks.

    When I make something new that they like, my kids say, "Mama, is this a Julia recipe?" 🥰

    Great recipes! I used to make a crustless quiche using a few tablespoons of bisquick added to the eggs, throw in whatever frozen odds & ends of veggies & maybe some ham or cheese, so good!
