I’m glad you like these ideas for meals. I’m sorry to hear that prices are so very high where you live though! Thank you so much for watching and I appreciate your feedback🙌🏼
@JuliaPacheco My feedback about prices is out of your control. I was just floored by the prices you paid! LOL No apologies necessary. You're doing an amazing job, and I love seeing all of your new posts! My family loves your recipes.
I’m always curious about prices and how low a lot of American ones seem low. I priced it out in my area and it’d be just over $34 Canadian (and I know I’m in a more affordable area of Canada). It’s funny too seeing the different volume of foods. For example we don’t have rice in 1 lb bags, our smallest is 1 kg, so if I had to buy all the ingredients (and not pro-rate them for comparison sake) the bill would be even higher. The thrifty meal ideas are still appreciated, it’s just interesting to compare sometimes.
@sheila3936 I'm in Quebec. Our prices here have risen significantly in the past three years. I discovered Rotel tomatoes through Julia! LOL They're about 4$ a can here... I'd have to go out and price this. I'll go to a Maxi this week and see as they have quite a few specials! Where in Canada are you?
@@sincerely-b I’m in rural Southern Ontario. Some of the items I’d have to buy in bulk from Amazon if I was being really authentic to her recipes and not making substitutes, as we don’t get the same variety. But price wise I likely can’t complain compared to other areas of Canada. Like PEI potatoes are cheaper here than in PEI 😅.
This was such a helpful video. Thank you. It’s been such a struggle with grocery prices these days and 6 kids in the house 5 which are teenagers 😩 But I can totally double or triple these recipes and I have most of these ingredients already!!! I just have to say so many RUclipsrs seem so fake but I can tell you are as sweet and kind as you are in your videos. You are a breath of fresh air ❤

I have food allergies, but seeing these videos helps me think of ways I can save money. It makes my week so much easier, and I know your recipes taste good. Thank you for sharing!!!!
I really do appreciate the positive feedback, Beth. Especially since you have food allergies! That makes things so much more difficult when you’re trying to budget. I hope that these meals help and thank you so very much for your great feedback💜🙌🏼
Thank you so much for all these great, less expensive menu ideas. Everything is a lot more expensive where I live, but I can still do this grocery list for $20. Also because I’m not feeding an entire family, I can stretch these meals a little further. The only thing I changed was the spinach. Fresh spinach is $7 a bag here so I went with frozen chopped. Being frozen won’t matter for the two meals in this video. I can hardly wait for your cookbook to come out!
I’m glad to hear that you can do this with $20, Stephanie. Thank you so very much for doing that comparison and thank you so very much for sharing your positive feedback. I appreciate you sharing how you will make your meals💜🙌🏼

Hi Julia !!! I was very excited about seeing you spend only $15 for groceries being that grocery prices has increased. Great job 👏 and amazing recipes !!! Thank you 😊
I am so impressed with what you have put together. Affordable, easy to make and obtain ingredients, satisfy a family of three (in our case) and even able to appease the picky eaters of my household (husband and special needs child). I like shopping "with you" and how you spread out the ingredients for the week. I ordered the recipe book. I'm really excited! Thank you!!
Thank you so very much! I am so very happy to hear that your family enjoyed my meals . It can be so difficult when everybody has different needs in your home. Thank you so very much again for your wonderful support here and I sure do appreciate you purchasing my cookbook. I hope you love it💜💜🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you again, Julia, for showing us how to eat well on a very tight budget! Your shopping tips and cooking tips to do this are so helpful! Wishing all of you a wonderful and blessed week ahead!!! 😊❤
1. Salt your beans at the end of cooking. Salt makes them tough if you put it in at the beginning. 2. When using tomato paste add it to the cooked meat and sauté for about 2 min the release the flavor.
$15 to make 6 meals = $2. 50/ meal. Four people so four portions divided into $2.50 comes to $.62/ person ! ! WOW JUST PLAIN WOW ! ! Purchasing two cans of the store brand diced tomatos saved $.80 almost the entire price of another can - .Of all the cookbooks offered by RUclips yours, is the only one I would consider purchasing.
Wow! Thank you so very much, Jill for all of that positive support and feedback! You are so awesome and I sure do appreciate your enthusiasm and love here. I sure hope you love my cookbook and thank you so very much again💜💜
This is an invaluable service- these items have been a staple for people (pastas, rice, dried beans, frozen/canned vegetables) for decades but have become kind of forgotten about in recent times. From families to singles, seniors to even broke young people learning to cook on their own for the first time, your cheerful reassuring demeanor (because when on a very tight budget, sometimes people are scared/ashamed and unsure what to make) and easy to follow steps really are wonderful. I’m blessed (very fortunate) with my personal food budget, but everyone should know these staples, because you just never know. Thank you! ❤
Thank you so very much for that positive feedback! I appreciate it. I do hope that these recipes and ideas help people who are in a budget crisis or needing to save money. A lot of us have been there! Thank you so very much for watching🙌🏼
Just discovered these videos and am 110% trying these out this week. What I really like is the use of Walmart products. Most recipes/videos etc have some kind of organic garden specialty item the average Joe doesn't have. Thank you.
Thank you so very much! And I really do hope that these recipes help you this week. It’s definitely hard to stay on a budget nowadays and I hope that these recipes work well for you💜🙏
Julia your Turkey Pot Pie recipe was fantastic !!! I really think that the ground turkey did it justice. Such a good time. Easy and super quick to prepare..... to bad it didnt last longer. My kids devoured it.
@JuliaPacheco I always soak overnight the pinto beans or other type of dried beans 1st and then change the water before cooking the next day. It cuts down on the intestinal "gas" and also helps the beans to soften up, especially if they are older. Also I heard that if you add the salt AFTER the beans are cooked, they will soften up easier. Thank you for your recipes. I have never used lentils, but I need some ways to use up the lentils that are in my food storage.
Thank you so very much for your wonderful tip about soaking the beans, Mary. I appreciate you sharing that here! And I do love lentils. They are a great source of protein for a really low cost. I hope you enjoy and thank you so much💜💜
I love following your meal plans and it definitely saves me money so thank you! Groceries are crazy expensive here (New Zealand) I went to 2 shops and my local farm vegetable shop for cheapest prices and this exact list cost me $53 NZD which is $31 USD - and that was with some really good special deals 🙄. That is still really REALLY budget friendly here but it crazy how low (comparatively) the grocery prices there are when I see you shop. Our grocery prices have gone up 19.3% in the last 2 years but salaries have not. So videos like yours are such a blessing 💖💖💖
Oh my goodness, Julia. That is just so very frustrating! Hard to believe the prices have gone up that much without any pay increases! Thank you so very much for doing that great comparison though. I really do appreciate it and thank you so very much for your great support from New Zealand 💜💜
Julia, I just made the turkey rice skillet for dinner. Omgosh, it is absolutely delicious! I used a whole pound of ground chicken, and a jar of puréed fresh salsa instead of rotel. So fresh and flavorful!! Thanks for your creative recipes. z i’ve made several over the last few months, and they never disappoint. This is the best one so far! -Laura
I am so happy to hear that you all enjoy the turkey rice skillet, Laura! It really does sound like you made it your own and I sure do appreciate your positive support🙌🏼💜
These meals looked incredibly appealing and colourful. Also, such great ideas with pinto beans and so much flavoring from spices. This video was amazing, Julia! Thank you so very much for putting these ideas together for us. This not only helps families immensely, but also seniors on their own with very limited budgets, who could maybe spread these meals over a couple of weeks. Bless you for all this hard work for us! Hoping you have a great week, Julia! 😊❤🙏💕
I love your meals. I eat frugality to save for a rainy day when my budget may not be so blessed. Those few cents saved turn into a dollar. It may not be a big saving, but that dollar saved helps down the road.
This is my favorite meal planning video. Everything you bought is ised within the week, split into several recipes. Its easy, affordable, and delicious!
Hi Julia! Thank you so much for always sharing meals on a budget especially with groceries being so expensive nowadays. I wouldn't probably have to double these meals so it would cost a little more but would still be on a good budget. There's 4 of us in our home and my kids are boys and boys can eat lol. Plus there a little older too and my oldest is a teen lol
Thank you so very much, Angelina! And you’re so right, prices are just nuts right now. And yes, if you have boys in your home I would definitely double or triple the recipes. Thank you so much for your positive comment and I hope everybody enjoys💜🙌🏼💜
I am going to try the first skillet meal, but instead of spinach, I'll use cilantro (40 cents at our Aldi store). If anyone doest like ..I think they taste soap, I recommend chopping off the stems, and eating the leaves only. Can't wait to try this, and I'm excited about the cheaper turkey meat! Yay!!😀😀😀 Thank you!!!😀😀😀
Thanks for sharing all these great meal ideas! This will help me so much to cut down on the amount I'm spending on groceries. I love that your recipes ate quick to make and take normal ingredients. God bless you & your family in the week ahead.

When I lived it Utah, I said the same thing about shredded cheese being more expensive than block, but living on the East Coast and in the Midwest has taught me that’s not always true.

Just made the turkey pot pie. My 6 year old son asked what it was and took a bite, saying it's yummy. He then told me he was going to eat it all up. I'm so happy I found this recipe
Thank you for this!! Needing to stretch our already thin grocery budget for our family of 5. I'll probably buy an extra bag of frozen veggies, make 2 bags of rice and cook the whole bag of beans in the instant pot to just throw meals together throughout the week, and then have rice and veggies left over for fried rice.

Wow great recipes. fyi. If you soak your pinto beans over night they will cook faster. Saves energy. Soup with rice and spinach looks tasty. I have half a bag of spinach in the fridge. Good idea for supper tonight. Thanks Julia. Hope you and your family have a great week.
Another great vid! I love your recipe ideas like this. So easy to customize and add things like tortillas and crackers if you have a slightly bigger budget. With the first two meals, I think if you took the Mexican rice dish, and took out the rice, that could be a good filling for the cornbread muffin topping. And then if you took the mushroom soup filling mix and added the rice to it, that would also be a good on its own. Maybe just put it over the rice like chicken ala King

Thank you. It’s been such a struggle with grocery prices these days and 6 kids in the house 5 which are teenagers 😩
But I can totally double or triple these recipes and I have most of these ingredients already!!!
I just have to say so many RUclipsrs seem so fake but I can tell you are as sweet and kind as you are in your videos. You are a breath of fresh air ❤
That means so very much to me, Rebecca! Thank you so much for your positive feedback and I am so happy to hear that my recipes help you feed your larger family🙌🏼🙌🏼 that is a win! Have a great week and thank you so very much again!
I would have given anything to have your channel when I was a single Mom. Still love it now! ❤
Thank you so very much💜
I have food allergies, but seeing these videos helps me think of ways I can save money. Even with me having to make substitutions it comes out much more affordable with how you've laid these ingredients out to be interchangeable.
The frozen ground Turkey being a whole dollar cheaper than the refrigerator section blows me mind! Good to know! Thank you for these recipes. I’m sure you hear it all the time but times are hard and these videos literally save us! It takes the stress out of grocery shopping for us. Love and appreciate you!!💖
Thank you so very much, Frances! I appreciate your positive feedback. And that is kind of crazy, isn’t it? Thanks for your kind words here and I sure do appreciate you too💜💜
Hi Julia !!! I was very excited about seeing you spend only $15 for groceries being that grocery prices has increased. Great job 👏 and amazing recipes !!! Thank you 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
This is how I grew up in the 70s and 80s. Back to basics and eating as a family is the best way to develop memories❤
That is absolutely the truth! Thank you so very much💜🙌🏼
Making that many healthy meals for $15 is truly amazing considering todays high prices at the grocery store. Nice job Julia!!
Well thank you so very much! I sure appreciate that😀
Very envious, that cheese is 9$ alone where I live :( a dairy board controls the pricing and does not allow for competition
@@cyrvanessa. I noticed this also. $2.00 for cheese. Our canned food are also $2.00 now instead of $1.00. In Canada that would be 30.00
I am so impressed with what you have put together.
Thank you so very much, Laura! And I hope you and your family have a wonderful week too. I sure do appreciate your positive feedback🍁🎃🍁
Easy instructions, no fancy equipment needed! And everything looks delicious!
Eating Great Value is not eating well.
Purchasing two cans of the store brand diced tomatos saved $.80 almost the entire price of another can -
.Of all the cookbooks offered by RUclips yours, is the only one I would consider purchasing.
Wow! Thank you so very much, Jill for all of that positive support and feedback! You are so awesome and I sure do appreciate your enthusiasm and love here. I sure hope you love my cookbook and thank you so very much again💜💜
you are welcome Julia . You deserve kudos for the work you do and information you share.
That is wonderful news! Thank you so much for sharing your positive feedback about my recipe and I hope you have a great week🍁🎃🍁
@@JuliaPacheco 💖💖💖
Thanks so much! 😊 I sure do appreciate that, Michelle!
I love your meals. I eat frugality to save for a rainy day when my budget may not be so blessed. Those few cents saved turn into a dollar. It may not be a big saving, but that dollar saved helps down the road.
That is very true! Thank you so much for sharing your budgeting method. I really do appreciate your positive comment🙌🏼
Hi Julia! Excited for your cookbook release--congrats! Always amazed at what you are able to bring to your viewers!❤
Thank you so very much! So am I! And I really do appreciate your great support🙌🏼🙌🏼
This is my favorite meal planning video. Everything you bought is ised within the week, split into several recipes. Its easy, affordable, and delicious!
I’m so happy to hear that! That is just awesome. Thanks so much for sharing what you do and I sure do appreciate your support here🙌🏼🙌🏼
Yay!!😀😀😀
Thank you!!!😀😀😀
I’m happy to hear that these recipes are helpful to you, Brandy! Thank you so very much for that great tip too🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thanks for sharing all these great meal ideas! This will help me so much to cut down on the amount I'm spending on groceries. I love that your recipes ate quick to make and take normal ingredients. God bless you & your family in the week ahead.
Thank you so very much, Jenny! I sure do appreciate that and your positive feedback too! I hope you enjoy some of these recipes and that they help with your budget💜🙌🏼💜
Thank you so much food is just going higher and higher I showed your video to my neighbor she was amazed. God Bless you and your beautiful family. 🙏♥️
Thank you so very much, Judy! I appreciate you sharing my video with your neighbor. The prices are just skyrocketing🥴🥴
Great video, Julia. I just love when you can stretch your budget so far. Have a super fantastic day. Sending love and big hugs Sherry ❤ ❤❤
Thank you so very much for your positive feedback! I sure do appreciate it, Sherry💜💜
When I lived it Utah, I said the same thing about shredded cheese being more expensive than block, but living on the East Coast and in the Midwest has taught me that’s not always true.
Very interesting! I had another viewer tell me the same thing. I guess it does vary from area to area. Thank you so much for sharing that and I hope you enjoy these recipes🙌🏼
Wow! All the veggies in the dishes are what I’m craving! Loved your ideas and they’re so filling and soooo much healthier! Now I see why you prepped the beans the same day you shopped!!❤🎉
I am so happy to hear that you loved all of my ideas, Stephanie! I sure hope you enjoy them and I hope they help🙌🏼🙌🏼
I definitely would be grateful for more of these 15 dollar budget videos. I will be trying the ones in this video. Thank you!!

Just made the turkey pot pie. My 6 year old son asked what it was and took a bite, saying it's yummy. He then told me he was going to eat it all up. I'm so happy I found this recipe
Oh my goodness! That is just awesome to hear! So glad he enjoyed that meal so much and I sure do appreciate you sharing that with me🙌🏼💜🙌🏼
Cannot wait for your cookbook! I'm amazed what you can do w 15 bucks! 😍
Thank you so very much! And I am so excited about it too🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you for this!! Needing to stretch our already thin grocery budget for our family of 5. I'll probably buy an extra bag of frozen veggies, make 2 bags of rice and cook the whole bag of beans in the instant pot to just throw meals together throughout the week, and then have rice and veggies left over for fried rice.
You are so very welcome, Becky! I sure do hope that these ideas help you this week. And those are some great ideas that you have. I sure hope you have a great week and thank you so much for watching🙌🏼💜

Thanks so much for that great tip! I hope you enjoy that soup tonight and thank you so very much for your positive comment🙌🏼
I was just telling my mom about the slow cooker chicken recipe I recently tried. It was so good and I can't wait for your cookbook. So excited!

This is just in time to use up the big pot of ham and bean soup up that i just made to change into these meals. Thank you, Julia!
Ham and bean soup! So so good! Thanks so much and hope you have a great week🙌🏼🙌🏼
Absolutely! Thank you so very much for sharing those great ideas with me and I appreciate you watching🙌🏼🙌🏼
I love how you add encouraging words in your decor in the videos! ❤Great ideas!

I noticed the grater you are using...I don't know if I learned of it from you...but it is the best "box" grater I've ever used. What I really like about it is that it grates both directions, so it is quite fast.

Recipes look delicious 😋 Julia. I wish that my Walmart was as well stocked as yours is. Because of that I have to shop at another local grocery store to get what I can’t get from Walmart. Oh well , thanks for the recipes.
Thank you so very much! And that is really very true with a lot of different grocery stores. Some of them are better stocked than others. Thank you so much for sharing that and have a great weekend🙌🏼🙌🏼

That’s awesome to hear! Thank you so very much🙌🏼
This video was so helpful for me in my meal prepping this week, and it made me so happy that all of the recipes except for the turkey pot pie (which I think I can easily adapt) were gluten-free! It's so hard to eat well on a tight budget and I think you are helping a lot of people with these videos. Thank you so much!
We too are gluten free and man does it eat into the budget....I've got growing teen agers so I think I'd have to double each of these recipes too,lol
I’m happy to hear that you can adapt that recipe to your gluten-free needs🙏 I sure do appreciate your positive feedback and I’m glad to hear that you are able to use my recipes this week🙌🏼🙌🏼
Be careful with boullion cubes because some are not GF!
@@hollypepen4012 I know isn't that crazy, you would never think bullion wouldn't be gluten free.
Thanks for the tip on the frozen ground turkey. After seeing what you paid, I’ve checked a couple of times but wasn’t willing to pay the difference on the refrigerated one. 😁👍
That color green looks great on you!

Yesterday or Friday I had the refrigerated one. Equally tasty. And I still have one in the freezer. Thank you. Haven't tried the others yet, but I will.
