G. Bush made his "this aggression will not stand" statement on August 5th, 1991. The dude wrote the cheque to September 11 1991. He probably was not doing very well. Mind you, his landlord told him, only a couple of days later, that "tomorrow is already the 10th" (of August 1991).

Yeah, it's not my favorite thing to do either, but lowering the volume doesn't work, and muting it completely seems very strange. Sorry about that. Sam was born in my hometown and grew up here until the age of about 13. His character is known as "the stranger" in this film. For more info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Elliott

Donny constantly being told to "Shut the F*ck up" is a bit of an inside joke by the Coen Brothers. Because in the movie Fargo his character never stops talking.
Thanks for doing one of the funniest movies of all time. But, if you’re going to do the goldmine that is the Coen’s filmography, you have to do their best: No Country for Old Men.
The sheriff reminds me of what's his name Ernie Nelson or Harney something he was in that one military movie and in the remake and prequel to Texas chainsaw massacre obviously the character is more like him in the military movie sounds like him lol

The Dude: Buddhism Walter: Jingoism The Big Lebowski: Capitalism Maude: Feminism Jackie Treehorn / Bunny: Hedonism Police Chief: Fascism The Nihilists: (obvious) You're not watching characters so much as avatars of various ideologies, but that somehow makes it even more fun. 😎
@@BossMovieReactions Walter says that line in the scene where they are all sitting at the bar in the alley, comparing it to Nihilism. The line is absolute gold, because it is one of the most absurd things Walter says. :)
@@1stCainite Yes, I remember the scene and I remember Walter saying that, I just didn't know what the word "ethos" meant. Now I know, thanks to you! (:
This movie is basically a deconstruction of a classic film noir mystery. In those movies the main character, who is a private investigator, gets hired and does his level best to solve the case. In this movie, the dude has no interest in solving anything and keeps getting pulled back in by the other characters. They have to go to his house like 5 times to get him to continue to participate in the story, and at the end there are like a half-dozen loose ends that never get resolved. All the Dude ever wanted was his rug back.
When they cast Sam Elliott as "The Stranger", Sam came to them and said something to the tune of "thanks for the part, but who in the hell is this guy anyways?" The Cohen brothers had to tell him they had no idea themselves.
Ah, interesting. Jessica also asked during our reaction "who this guy was" and many of our audience thought we didn't know who Elliott was "as an actor", but we were wondering "who" he was regarding the "story." Well, as I've said in the video, he was the "narrator." Lol. Thanks for watching! (:
The dude reminds me of a little kid watching a movie a movie loving kid you can see the years melt away as he's watching the movie back in the cinema again watching it on the big screen as a little kid stems from the eyes lol the kid like energy in the eyes lol
Hi Mopotter, yeah, I don't like replacing the music either, believe me, but without it I can't upload the video. A few seconds and the copyright bots FLAG the video. I go through a tremendous amount of time in order to get approved. For Tommy Boy, as an example, I had to create 23 different versions of our reaction video until I finally passed the copyright process. People have NO idea what it takes. Editing alone can take up to 30-40 hours. Of course, I could simply MUTE those sections, but that's kind of weird too. Anyway, we share the frustration!! - Thanks for watching, we appreciate it! (:
Just wondering if you replaced some of the music soundtrack for this reaction, or if you watched a version of the movie that had been altered for some reason, as some of the songs in the background are not the songs in the original version. As someone who has seen this many times, it was very jarring to hear the wrong music in the background.
Enjoyed your reaction to this movie. Some notes: The woman missing her toe is Aimee Mann singer\songwriter for "Til Tuesday" band. Donny's dialog was minimal and was constantly told to shut-up by Walter as a joke because of criticism of Steve Buscemi's character in "Fargo" always talking. Also Donny is always wearing a different person's bowling shirt.
A Coen Bros classic. This was (very) loosely based on a 40s mystery novel by Raymond Chandler called The Big Sleep, later a movie with Bogie and Bacall. Both book and movie had an intricate plot that was almost incomprehensible, kind of like this. But it certainly wasn't as funny.

Yeah, I studied at Playhouse West for a couple of years and Mark was one of the teachers. I also had Jeff Goldblum for one session (he substituted). (:
Haha... Yeah, because at one point in the movie, the Dude mentions Vladimir Lenin, which Donny mistook him for mentioning John Lennon, and starts quoting the lyrics "I am a Walrus," from The Beatles' I Am The Walrus, several times. -- Thanks for commenting! (:
I could see from the foreign dudes reaction, he had no clue about our American society of the last century where The Dude, Walter, Donny,Jesus & Sam Elliot are originating from my era (bowling was what we did growing up)... The blonde henchman is your acting teacher?! Cool =) I've actually met Peter Stormare (Uli the Nihilist leader and the porno/techno star) in person and he was a really down to earth person, a nice guy. When I went up to him, I was nervous and starstrucked. And while I was trying to say that I love his work and that the best role he did was in Fargo, I think he could tell I was nervous and out of nowhere he gave me a hug! Didn't expect that at all! =D =)
Oh, that's cool. Thanks for sharing. Yeah, Mark was my acting teacher for a while at Playhouse West in LA. I also had Jeff Goldblum for a session (he was substituting). (:

@@BossMovieReactions He played Lucifer for a long time on "Supernatural." "Supernatural" is a series which I randomly tried and found to be superb. I watched 300 episodes in just a few months. It's about two brothers who are members of a subculture of of people who are aware that supernatural creatures really do exist, and hunt them. They're actually called "hunters" within the community. My wife could see that I loved it and bought me the box set. I eventually showed her every episode.
Great catch on the mic patch cord! I’ve seen this movie a hundred times and never caught that. And all this time I thought you were just slow in your process. I have truly been humbled madam.😎😶
Awesome. We just went there yesterday for Memorial Day. Shortest line ever! Waited only 9 minutes. As you might know, usually you wait 20-40 minutes in line.
@@BossMovieReactions Wow, would have expected a longer line on a holiday! I rarely go to that one because of the line situation and when I do, I tend to park and walk up to the window. The fact that the line goes out into the street makes it less efficient than other locations.
Wait, what? Mark Pellegrino was your acting teacher? that is so cool. I loved him in Mulholland Drive, great actor, should be mainstream for his talent. Thank you, guys. Fun fact, the other Lebowski's mansion is the same one used in 'There will be blood' which you should definitely watch, it's one of the best films of this century, and that's not just me talking.
In addition to there being at least half a dozen echoes of FARGO in this film, I also confess that having basically started out as Norm myself, I've spent the last four years slipping decidedly toward being The Dude.
The video artist is David Thewlis, a great actor who starred in a British classic called Naked directed by Mike Leigh. Leigh won the best director at Cannes for Naked and the Palm d'Or for Secrets and Lies.
Happy to hear that. Yep, 28 Days is still on our list, but our list has about 12 years of watch-time... But keep mentioning it, so it stays fresh on our minds. (:
Sam Elliot is the “narrator”. Awesome in many movies, best would probably be tombstone. Many have said that his character in this movie is a type of deity watching over people like the dude who just live life and try to not have any problems with anything or anyone. That’s why he asks the dude if he has to curse so much.
"Yeah, well, that's just, like... your opinion, man."

The girls having time of her life she fits right in that scene with the dude and girl is laughing on the phone lol.
Hi Chris, thanks for watching and sharing your interesting thoughts. ((:
The Dude: Buddhism
Walter: Jingoism
The Big Lebowski: Capitalism
Maude: Feminism
Jackie Treehorn / Bunny: Hedonism
Police Chief: Fascism
The Nihilists: (obvious)
You're not watching characters so much as avatars of various ideologies, but that somehow makes it even more fun. 😎
Very insightful. Thanks for that! (:
Say what you will about National Socialism. At least it's an ethos.
@@1stCainite I had to look it up = The characteristic spirit of a culture, era, or community as manifested in its beliefs and aspirations. (:
@@BossMovieReactions Walter says that line in the scene where they are all sitting at the bar in the alley, comparing it to Nihilism. The line is absolute gold, because it is one of the most absurd things Walter says. :)
@@1stCainite Yes, I remember the scene and I remember Walter saying that, I just didn't know what the word "ethos" meant. Now I know, thanks to you! (:
You guys should try The Outlaw Josey Wales way underreacted movie.
I added it to our list. Thanks! (:
A great observation by Mr Boss when Donny only gets Nine Pins instead of a strike. Something was off and that scene foreshadows Donny's death.
Yeah, poor Donny! R.I.P. -- Thanks for watching!
Haha, yeah, good point. All the Dude ever wanted was his rug back. Thanks for watching! ((:
Thanks for your unique comments, and thanks for watching along! (:
really like the reactions, but please stop placing weird music over the movie.
Yeah, unfortunately, I had to change two songs. The YT Copyright bots flagged it and I wasn't allowed to use it... Sorry about that. (:
Bosses, please don't tell everyone exact location where you go for In & Out Burgers.
Yeah, good point. Thanks! (:
Mark Pellegrino! Nice call. This was way before so many of his fantastic roles.
Yeah, Mark was my acting teacher for a while. I also studied with Jeff Goldblum, but only for one session when he substituted. (:
48:00 lol, that same thing happened when my family spread my brother’s ashes.
Oh, no... The brother in your face! (:
Just one thing, dude, do you have to swear so much?
What the fuck are you talking about?
Haha, yeah, an epic dude response! ((:
Many people think that they have found the deep meaning -that is always mentioned- in this strange comedy. It is worth pondering why this is so.
Yes, lots of thoughts and opinions on that one. Thanks for watching! (:
the story was about donnie being the princess bride grandpa
(:
Are you jordan schlansky from conan obrien?
Haha, that's the third time I'm getting that! LOL. No, I'm Mike Boss from Switzerland! Thanks for watching, Alfaucko! (:
Enjoyed your reaction to this movie. Some notes: The woman missing her toe is Aimee Mann singer\songwriter for "Til Tuesday" band. Donny's dialog was minimal and was constantly told to shut-up by Walter as a joke because of criticism of Steve Buscemi's character in "Fargo" always talking. Also Donny is always wearing a different person's bowling shirt.
Thanks for that, CopyKat. I also noticed while being a member of the Bowling team, that the Dude is never seen bowling LOL. (:
Obviously, the Dude is too...who the hell is Art?
One of John Goodman's most entertaining performances
Yeah, I loved it as well! (:
A Coen Bros classic. This was (very) loosely based on a 40s mystery novel by Raymond Chandler called The Big Sleep, later a movie with Bogie and Bacall. Both book and movie had an intricate plot that was almost incomprehensible, kind of like this. But it certainly wasn't as funny.
Yep, someone pointed that out, I didn't know. Thanks for sharing! (:
Ohhh, I just saw the #6 badge next to your name!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for becoming a member! That just made my day. Thank you. A shoutout will be coming. ((:
The narrator guy used to do a bunch of Ford or Chevy commercials, i cant remember which. Hes been on some recent Family Guy episodes too. If you ever heard the Beef campaign commercials from a long time ago i think that was him too. "BEEF, it's what's for dinner". Just my worthless input to add a comment to hopefully help your awesome channel lol. Cheers guys
Yeah, I think I've seen him in commercials before. Thanks for the input and the encouragement! Cheers!! (:
That was AFTER he became famous for his ACTING!!
Thanks for enjoying my movie.
Haha, you're welcome, Larry! ((:

Yes, his performance was epic!! (:
4:07 "this is Mark Pellegrino, my acting teacher."
wow, never heard *that* before! 😎
Yeah, I studied at Playhouse West for a couple of years and Mark was one of the teachers. I also had Jeff Goldblum for one session (he substituted). (:
that narrator guy is now mayor wild west in family guy
Ah, thanks for sharing that. (:
It was all about the rug and thay pissed on it 😅😂😂😂
Funny writing for sure! ((:
I am the Walrus....
The production here is very impressive.
Thanks for pointing that out, we really appreciate it! (:
I could see from the foreign dudes reaction, he had no clue about our American society of the last century where The Dude, Walter, Donny,Jesus & Sam Elliot are originating from my era (bowling was what we did growing up)... Why the young lady doesn`t is disturbing because her/our parents, our schools taught history of the generations that came before us and their struggles... sorry to be a Debby downer but yea they didn`t even get any of the JAMS from the era... I`ll do some more reviews SO Keep on Rockin & giddyup BOSS MOVIE REVIEW

This movie is superficial at a very deep level.
Haha, very nice! (:
The blonde henchman is your acting teacher?! Cool =)
I've actually met Peter Stormare (Uli the Nihilist leader and the porno/techno star) in person and he was a really down to earth person, a nice guy.

Who brings a gun to a Bowling game 😂
Walter does! lol. ((:
Sam Elliot is the narrator. Great actor.
Hi Barry, yeah, I realized that there was a misunderstanding when Jessica asked "Who is he." She meant who he was "regarding the story" (Filmmaker’s perspective), not who he was as an actor. We do know him. But thanks so much for sharing and thanks for watching! (:
Bro knows about the checkered floor lol 🤫
Haha, yeah, and a lot more too! (:
You had Lucifer as an acting teacher? Awesome. If, by chance, you don't catch my reference, I'll explain.
Haha, I assume he played Lucifer in a movie or TV show, right? (:
@@BossMovieReactions He played Lucifer for a long time on "Supernatural."
"Supernatural" is a series which I randomly tried and found to be superb. I watched 300 episodes in just a few months. It's about two brothers who are members of a subculture of of people who are aware that supernatural creatures really do exist, and hunt them. They're actually called "hunters" within the community. My wife could see that I loved it and bought me the box set. I eventually showed her every episode.
@@brandonflorida1092 Oh, okay, I didn't know that. Sounds interesting! Thanks! (:
Oh yes. I was waiting for this one with you two. You really tight the room together.

This is a rare movie that is always better the 2nd time you watch it and more you watch it the more you appreciate it
Yeah, I believe that! (:
I wonder if Flea ever really recovered from that bowling ball to the chest.
Haha, yeah, that looked brutal! (:
Or that car crash racing against Marty McFlt.
Walter is the man lol
Yes, he is. Made me laugh so many times! (:
I hate The Eagles too. :)

Great catch on the mic patch cord! I’ve seen this movie a hundred times and never caught that.
And all this time I thought you were just slow in your process.
I have truly been humbled madam.😎😶
I'm happy to hear that... Thank you! 🤩👍
Yo, that's my In-N-Out Burger also!
@@sevilnatas Yeah, I hear you. The lines are crazy, but the burgers are sooo good! Have a great week! (:
Yeah, Pellegrino was super cool. I talk a bit more about the class in my "Afterthoughts" video. "There Will Be Blood" is on our list! Thx! (:
In addition to there being at least half a dozen echoes of FARGO in this film, I also confess that having basically started out as Norm myself, I've spent the last four years slipping decidedly toward being The Dude.
Haha, funny! ((:
...dude
His Dudeness! (:
The video artist is David Thewlis, a great actor who starred in a British classic called Naked directed by Mike Leigh. Leigh won the best director at Cannes for Naked and the Palm d'Or for Secrets and Lies.
Oh, and also Harry Potter and The Theory of Everything -- Thanks for that! (:
YES!! The Dude is an irreplaceable cultural icon. It’s hard to come up with a movie that has more quotable lines.
True! "Strong men also cry". ((:
I haven’t seen this one in a long time. I’m glad I got to rediscover it with you. Now, as always…I can’t wait for 28 Days Later
Yeah, I like that! (:
You changed the music?
Yes, I had to due to YT Copyright claim... Sorry. (:
Check out "Dirty Work" of Norm McDonald
I added it! Thx! (:
