    That is so interesting! It’s a shame people don’t know they were gentled. That could really help them get homes!

    I agree , horses that have had some tip training should be acknowledged as such.

    I’m the middle of the video, I realized all of them had human exposure that was positive.

      Yep! Their initial experiences aren't all that pleasant, but these guys all had some more positive experiences afterwards!

    I so wish I could adopt some of these guys!!
    But, I am in the UK and the journey would be extremely expensive and far too stressful for the horses!!
    I'd love to send a donation for the upkeep of the horses and burros!!
    Thank you for bringing this situation to the public's attention!!

    My mustang Zäna taught me that 150 days is not always enough time to gentle a mustang. She also helped me look objectively at gentling mustangs as a trainer/business. Even if a horse can be fully TIP trained within the time slowed; that doesn’t mean they will find an adopter or maybe the adoption falls through. Thank you for showcasing the various aspects of gentling mustangs and about the time allotted to gentle them.

    Owning a horse would be a lifelong dream come true for me, however I cannot afford a horse and the upkeep it would require, it can be very costly at times. I can still dream about it though.

    This has to be something you are willing to do for the long haul. You gotta want this. Those who are into this for the love of the horses won’t see money as an issue.

    • @Polopony20.
      @Polopony20. Год назад

      but money is an issue, especially with inflation these days. If you can't afford food for yourself you won't be able to do your work well and won't be able to afford the horses' care.

    It seems the handlers in the TIP (?) program much have cared for these horses as they were certainly OK with humans. Horses can sense the unspoken feeling of humans so it would seem the handlers were caring towards them. 🙏 These beautiful horses find a caring home like the one you give yours.

    So, a question...
    Do the horses 🐎 that went through the program still need the 6 foot high fence, and other precautions that untouched mustangs need??

    I would adopt one... if I had somewhere to keep it and I had the money to care for it. Also I know nothing about training wild horses.....

      @Polopony20. Год назад +1

      start now! I first learned about them in 2018 (July 12 2018 to be specific) and since then have created an entire spreadsheet with videos I've watched to learn things, color-coded for if the video was informative or not (it's been really cool to watch the gradual transition from green (meaning i learned something new) to yellow (meaning it was info i already knew or the trainer wasn't offering advice) and have an entire folder full of notes!
      I don't have the set-up or funds for a mustang yet, but in the meantime, I'm learning! You can too!

    Once the unadopted mustangs are returned to BLM without compensation to the TIP trainer for going past the 150 day period, does BLM offer the adopter the same 500 at 6 months and 500 after a year incentive they normally offer with an untouched mustang?

    • @TheProjectEquestrian
      @TheProjectEquestrian  Год назад +1

      That’s a great question I was wondering myself! As I’m sure you are aware, tip Horses do not have the incentive. However, since they were returned… and also unlabeled as former tip horses, it is possible they were incentivized, but I really don’t know myself. Maybe someone else does!

    • @jimmyyounger618
      @jimmyyounger618 Год назад +1

      @@TheProjectEquestrian Hmm... I can think of so many scenarios where a TIP trainer wouldn't get a fair shake under the 150 day rule. For example, someone could commit to a purchase but need time to arrange for boarding and/or other details, then flake out after they've run down the clock, leaving the TIP trainer holding the bag. (We all want to be easy going and accommodating, but I think it would be wise to keep the business side all business, like the horse is available until paid for.) Also, if the BLM didn't offer the regular incentive to the next adopter because the Mustang was TIP trained, they're collecting on the TIP trainers work and the money the trainer spent for the Mustang's care because of this 150 day technicality. Very unfair if that were the case. At the event you attended, perhaps BLM didn't advertise the horses as TIP trained to avoid conflict, (or appearance of conflict), with uncompensated TIP trainers? That would make sense, but still - is it fair? I could be wrong, but I can imagine bidding going much higher at an adoption event when the public discovers the horses are TIP trained, in which case BLM is unintentionally collecting on the TIP trainer's work.
      In the end, God bless the TIP trainers! I can only imagine doing it out of love for the process and caring about the horse's future. I think if I fell for a mustang that turned out to be TIP trained, I'd do everything possible to locate the TIP trainer and make things right, either up front or as I received the BLM incentive funds.

      for the same reason, we spay and neuter dogs. to keep them from overpopulating and starving to death. Have you ever watched an animal starve to death? It's much more demonic than a simple surgery.
