Glad to see somebody that doesn't just choose a horse for its color. So many great horses are overlooked because they're not flashy. Everybody goes for the paints and the grays and the palominos. But the color of the horse has nothing to do with how good it's going to be.
Your videos are so good! I really appreciate that you give the details you do and your personal thoughts on everything. That is really helpful! I loved this video and your recording and narration is fantastic. I am anxiously waiting for your next one showing your two girls coming home with you and your videos showing you getting ready for them! Keep the videos coming, it really is a great learning experience as well as being able to follow your adventure and training of them. I too adopted a Mustang years ago and after many bumps and lumps, he turned out to be one of the best horses I have ever had. I lost him to old age, but would love to adopt another, especially with the travesty that is happening out west where our beautiful horses are being taken at a massive rate off their land and being held in holding pens. Keep up the great work and I look forward to all of your other videos!
Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice comment! I really appreciate it! I’m so excited to finally be entering the mustang world! They are truly incredible animals! I’ll be posting my next video tomorrow😊
I just discovered your channel and I’m having so much fun watching all of your videos. Thank you so much for sharing this part of your world with a horse Crazy Artist! 😁
This is the first of your video's that I have watched. I like your style of explaining as you go along. There were plenty of good looking horses there, and you got two of the best. The little one has a lovely head and flashy demeanor, she will be a pip!! Best of luck.
As someone who owns a BEAUTIFUL dark bay gelding who is constantly getting compliments I will never understand why people over look bays. He’s got a big cute white star and snip. As well as a random black dot on the top of his nose and he’s also got three white socks. And he’s one of the most handsome horses at the barn. And our bark consisted of only two other bays. And maybe it’s his markings that make him so cute since he’s not as “plain” as some would say about other bays that have no white marks. Almost everyone at the barn has complimented my horse and everyone always says he’s so cute. And he is and he definitely knows it! All bays are so striking because these days I feel like I never see any. My barn has like 14 red horses 😭 and 6 whites. Those are the most common
I've ridden on and off for about 15 years now and just recently realized that raising a mustang like this is my ultimate dream. I live in WA currently but am soon moving back home to FL... how I wish these events would come to FL! Perhaps one day
@@TheProjectEquestrian Thank you for sharing the wild horse transportation link as well! I'm gonna bookmark it. It is really cool you ended up with 2 and not just one! Blessed!
Did you bid on yours from an internet auction? Or where you there in person? I'm a little confused as to how that internet bit works. Beautiful horses, and that yearling you got looked like so much fun! I loved the friendly one too...I'da sure been tempted to take them both!
The two year old I won in the internet auction. They bring extras to the pick up site that are available for adoption, which was how I got the yearling. So you basically just had to check to make sure the horses weren’t already adopted and waiting for pick up, for example, like those pintos and the gray. I also have a few videos on the actual internet auction if you are interested ruclips.net/p/PLbEQI4JgoYMlU7LLYdjwCgMclk4k8veBl Thanks for watching 😊

I've been to one of these live adoption events. While some of the horses are clearly looking to avoid human contact, at one point I had two recently wild Mustangs licking my forearms at the same time. I'd have taken them both if I was ready for horse ownership at the time.
Hello. I have recently been intrigued by these amazing mustangs. I own lots of quarter horses but never a mustang. I was scrolling through the wild horse and burrow adoption website and I am shocked at how many baby’s where just waiting for a home it makes me wanna cry I think I might want to adopt one and train it ! I was wondering if you have any tips
Hi, you really impressed me to see how much you love horses 🐎 I love horses too they are adorable, I would like to a horse, can you recommend one for me?
Gracias por hacer estos vídeos. Una pregunta: de que estado o de donde vienen este grupo de caballos que filmaste ? Me gustaron mucho. Saludos desde Jalisco Mexico
They all look amazing ... I think I would just take the last ones or the Wildest ones peoples are least prone to choose .. this is how I adopted my animals
I hope this isn't one of those pens that draw people in to buy their horses so they can make money and restart the cycle by buying more. And if they don't get sold by some person who feels sorry for them, they'll just go to auction where they'll make money. Essentially being a scam. It's very common now a days-
No, this is a bureau of land management horse adoption event, which they sell some of the Mustangs online and then they are picked up after the auction ends, and others of the Mustangs will be sold in person at an auction. This is not a kill pen sale, which is what you’re thinking of. The requirements in order to get one of these horses is much stricter than the requirements to get something out of a kill pen.
I want to get a mustang sometime around March-July next year, but I'm not completely sure of how to go about adopting it. I've done a bunch of research, and I know a little bit about it, but I'm just not sure how to locate an adoption event where I can go and adopt one that I don't have to go to a makeover or something along those lines. I've asked some people, but they don't really explain it very well, so I was wondering if someone could explain it in the dumbest way possible. 😅
No, I was talking about New England :) Although, I do believe they do cross country lines sometimes. I know of people in Canada who have them, and I have heard of others in European countries getting them- but I have no idea on the process of that.
So do you have any tips on getting the AIP money from the BLM? We have sent in all the forms (twice). Finally got the titles, but no money. Have left phone and email messages at multiple BLM contacts, no response other than automated replies. I love my mustangs and did not adopt them because of the AIP, but it would be nice to have to help with buying winter hay. I feel like I wasted time and money getting my vet to fill out the paperwork. Any one else having this problem? Any ideas?
Funny you say that, because I’m in a similar position with 1. It’s been a couple months now, but I know my office is super short staffed so I’m just hanging tight and hopes it goes through. It wasn’t a deciding factor for me either, but I know what you mean about some hay money. I have a long list of extra horse expenses building up I’d like to use mine on before the snow flies😅
That is a great question. When you “adopt “ Mustang, it means the government still owns them, but you are caring for them. They are adopted as untitled. After one year you can apply for the title and then you own them. You can buy a Mustang too. If it is a sale authority Mustang. Then ownership passes immediately to you.
The ones that weren’t from the internet adoption (which is a competitive bid) were $25, yes. Crazy huh!? But the Bureau of Land Management did revise their rules and as of January 2022, $125 is now the minimum to adopt a mustang.
@@TheProjectEquestrian Thank you so much for telling me :D I know that I can’t get a mustang for like 30 years or more. But I hope ill get a mustang or a friesian I don’t care about the breed or coat or the gender.
The mustangs have overpopulated their natural habitat---that being, select grazing areas out West in the US---and therefore, the herds have to be thinned. Rather than killing off mass amounts of animals, the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) herds the horses up and ships them to loading sites across the US for adoption and training.
I am researching mustang adoption, I have handled horses since I was a child... but have not owned a horse for decades. My husband is also an avid equestrian. I am aware that the BLM wants to rescue these horses - but why are they so cheap?
I have some guesses, such as the reason you mentioned, but I don't actually know how they decided on their prices. The prices can be a little confusing, as they differ a bit. Sometimes they have events like this, where they are first come first serve, and sometimes its an auction, and those can cause prices to go up.
Likely because not many people would buy an untrained, questionable future health (I've heard of quite a few young ones who developed arthritis in just a few years because of poor nutrition as a foal), and no solid height/size estimates

Yes, the bays tend to have a harder time unfortunately. Mine were Great💜
Bays are my favorites lol
An old cowboy told me, "You can't ride color. "
I adopted 2 bays,1 sorrel and a dun.
One of the bays,aka-miss Betty was small so no one wanted her, so I brought her home...blessings to you
I love bay or sorrel or chestnut
I’m glad you chose the cute little filly with three socks. She was low horse and being pushed around by the other horses.

Yes, they have done appointment only. This was a scheduled event in the year, I’m not sure if they will do it again in the future at the site
And yeah, I didn’t have a big selection either, it was very happy with the yearling!

Hey hey do you think you could share where you found a company or person to haul your horse and if so could you include is they would come to Texas
She is gorgeous!
So a Wild Mustang is called wild because its from the wild ( escaped and bred into the wild) until they got caught ?
You chose very wisely I like the little one
I don't know if I could make a quick decision like that. ❤😊
