So kind how they all supported him the way that they did. And for the man that paid for his school to say just to pay it forward is awesome

100% - esp crazy as keeping a person in prison is WAY more expensive (like 5x or more) than a farrier or other training programme.... and I BET recidivism for those with a required skill is WAY less than those who just go through the horse programme..... However those private prisons prefer returning prisoners.

This is great! My husband and I know all to well there are way to many men and woman being released from our state and county facilities who have no choices once they are released! We have been wanting to open a re-entry center and homeless shelter in which the residents care for and train Mustangs and Burros but also care for and train small animals for adoption. Thank you guys for doing this!!

blacksmithing and master welding training and they have some jobs waiting....real jobs...really great video..prison is the perfect place to be training for trades...those horses are going to help them heal as they help the horse heal......Except for those with serious mental health/substance abuse issues who need different help....the rest of us need serious education and training for real jobs....thats a big part of reducing crime

A higher purpose and 'connection' via acceptance by animals - IMO horses are probably the best because they are prey animals with the ability to kill you easily and when you TRY ie you endeavour honestly to connect and respect them with 100% attention they will in turn learn to trust, accept and respect you. Dogs, although not strictly prey animals (most of their predator instincts have been bred out of them), are also incredible and their love/acceptance etc of people irrespective of background is WAY beyond a human esp when sad/upset etc they help WITHOUT words. Dogs also love unconditionally eg a homeless person's dog will stay with them, no question, rather than go to a billionaires mansion.... and, likewise, a billionaires dog will stay with them irrespective of a 'more exciting' life with many other dogs aka constant playtime. The 'connection' with dogs and/or horses transfers to people (way more compelling if one has one's own children to support esp). All these things help enable people to overcome substance abuse as IMO substance abuse rather than occasional use of alcohol etc is born of lack of connection and hope of change. In contrast poor ex criminals with lack of purpose and/or family and/or purpose is a recipe for disaster.

Ridiculous that $6100 for farrier school is approx 1/5 of imprisoning someone and recidivism rates for people who have a required skill is WAY less - albeit it's only 15% less for those who have done the horse programme but I BET the recidivism rate for those who have done a farrier programme is WAY less than that.

I believe the point is that the Ex felons need to go to work right away to support their families.
Society does not need for everybody to have a two year or four year degree.
If you can get into college, many companies still will not hire a felon.
I’m very proud of this man for what he has accomplished. If you have never gone through it, it’s hell getting back into society with so many strikes against you.
