    Opeth is special man. I think this band saved my life. The album Damnation and Blackwater park are life changing. Something so sad yet also hopeful in them. Plus their musical changes are brilliantly done.

      I love hearing about music saving lives, many bands have done that for me.
      I plan to keep exploring Opeth, they are really special. 🤘🤘🤘🤘

      Agree. This is not a band that teaches you about evil, but moreover what's evil and why you should understand it and step above it.

      I think damnation is one of the most beautiful albums ever made it’s so harsh in its softness

    I was born in 1970, and started listening to rock when I was 12 weeks old 😉. All kidding aside, OPETH is the single most spectacular and talented musical force that I have ever experienced and heard. ☮️

      😹 I’ve only heard 2 of their songs so far but I plan to listen and react to much more. They are extremely talented. I really dig Randy’s voice and the level these guys play!

    What instantly hooked me about Opeth: how they seamlessly go from absolutely face-melting metal heaviness to beautifully melodic, captivating and emotionally stirring acoustic-y vibe, usually in one go.

      @@TheMindofBruce It really is. Musically and technically nothing is left to chance with this band. However they manage to do everything in a relaxed and cool way.

    You proudly espouse your love for the lyricism, and thats earned my sub alone. A lot of reactors ignore the lyrics and the story told and rely on their audience to fill them in after the fact, I love seeing someone who isnt afraid to dive into the lyrics to build their own understanding and interpretation of the song

    • @TheMindofBruce
      @TheMindofBruce  10 месяцев назад +1

      I appreciate that! Sometimes I get it right but sometimes I get it wrong, but most of the time I still think it’s right because lyrics can speak to all of in different ways. I absolutely love music and lyrics!
      Thanks for the sub! 🤘

      Nah that's the beauty of lyrics and videos like this, how people interpret songs/lyrics is extremely fascinating to me, so there is no "wrong" answer, per se. In some situations like Rage Against the Machine for example, Zach/Tom leave little on the table to interpret in terms of their message, but songs like this that have more of an oblique theme/message, so I always appreciate when folks give their honest interpretation of a song like this

    Opeth, wow. It's crazy how the lead singer sings and growls, and plays the guitar so well at the same time.

      Mikael is legitimately one of the best metal musicians of all time. Few people ever are as good a songwriters as he is and that’s on top of him being an incredible vocalist both harsh and clean and a stellar guitarist. He really is an all time great talent and opeth is rightfully one of the most acclaimed metal bands of all time.

    Opeth was one of the most inspiring bands for me until the album Watershed. The complexity, the change between "light" and "shadow" is unparalleled. Opeth fundamentally changed my understanding of music. Through Opeth I became aware of Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, Blackbird), Haken, Gojira and various prog bands (listen to the old Genesis stuff, it's insane). @Bruce Deeble Maybe you would like to react to Gojira - Pray (ruclips.net/video/6Gt3gL_k7io/видео.htmlsi=zVYIQHy8KvreILf5), the song is very profound (like every song of this band), was written by the brothers Duplantier in memory of their deceased mother, the feelings go deep. Besides, the drummer is unique as far as his rhythm is concerned. Keep up the good work, your videos are always a positive distraction from the dreary and stressful everyday life.

    Hey bud, thanks for the reaction! Opeth are pretty effin' amazing. If you're into analyzing the lyrics I wholeheartedly recommend you to listen to the "Still life" album and perhaps do a reaction series of it in chronological order as it's a concept album. :)

    You got connected dude, really nice reaction! Although there are numerous great songs, my favourite remains to be Reverie/ Harlequin Forest. You should try that one next. Lyrics are deep and beautiful.

    Welcome to the world of Opeth!
    Deliverance and Harlequin Forest is two songs i highly recommend for the next reaction.
    Fun fact regarding "Ghost Reveries" the album that Ghost of Perdition is on, it was actually meant as an concept album but the order of the songs was changed before release.

  • @Zitronenparty

    Deliverance and Harlequin Forest next please! 💞
    But also pleeease please, pretty please - Do the studio version of these 2 Songs first!
    Like I've said in your last video, Opeth is awesome live! But especially these 2 songs have such a great production and many missing sounds/drum fills when played live that you would miss out an even greater experience imho. So for a first Listen I would really like to suggest you to do the studio version first :)

    • @TheMindofBruce
      @TheMindofBruce  10 месяцев назад +2

    Most reviewers don’t give a Mikael’s lyrics much due, and I don’t blame them because with Opeth their music is so layered that it’s easy to get lost in the sound trying to figure out what’s going on. But kudos for attempting it, he’s very poetic and certainly not straight forward.
    As for suggestions, everyone is going to suggest harlequin forest and blackwater park (the song), but I vote for SOME variety, how about Demon of fall?

    • @TheMindofBruce
      @TheMindofBruce  10 месяцев назад +1

      Ill add it to the list, I try to tackle every bands lyrics, even if I just pick out a few things and relate them to my life, that's basically what I do here is analyze lyrics, I don't think many reactors do that
      I love poetry also lol, I might start doing some spoken word reactions, not sure yet

    Glad ya found Opeth Homie! Dug tha reaction brohammer! Not enough YT reaction groups be covering prog metal and even prog-hop. If you liked tha prog sound you just got from Opeth, then you should give some love to tha homies over at Dog Fashion Disco when you get a chance! I wont spoil the reaction but I am certain your disappointment will be minimal!

    As I don't believe in "the best song ever made", because that's just impossible to say about one song when you see how many brilliant songs were made up until now , I will say that in my opinion this song belongs to the greatest ever written. It's up there with Bohemian
    Rhapsody and many others.

    • @TheMindofBruce

    I think you'd dig Novembre if you like Opeth. They are highly underrated but they got some great songs like Iridescence, Cobalt Of March, and Umana, among so many others. Give them a listen, you won't be disappointed.
