Andy Irvine - Film

ICC Digital is so proud to bring you the premiere of this short film, featuring Ireland’s greatest folk singer- songwriter Andy Irvine, in conversation with film director Sé Merry Doyle.
In this delightful interview, recorded live at the ICC, Andy talks to Sé about his life and his music and his love for Woody Guthrie.
A member of Ireland first ever supergroup “Planxty”, (which featured the stellar line up of Dónal Lunny on bouzouki, Andy Irvine on mandolin, Liam Óg O’Flynn on uilleann pipes and Christy Moore on guitar), Andy shares memories of those early days with the band.
The film also features stunning clips of Andy doing his sound check, before he goes on stage to perform his first major concert in the UK, after 18 long months of lockdown. The film concludes with a stunning performance by Andy, singing his magnificent song “Houdini”. Enjoy!!

One more thing ... I've been fortunate enough to attend concerts by Pierre Bensusan, Martin Simpson, Dervish, Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges, Cat Stevens, Tommy Emmanuel, and others. All great artists, and Andy is right there with them. I hope that before both he and I (I'm 68) are through I'll get see him live. He's on my bucket list!
