    I like the addition of the applied logo & the introduction of a signed crown. Small changes, but they make a nice improvement.

    The logo change is decent, if you squint and tilt your head just right it looks like the NTH logo. I’m with you, sub homages don’t light my fire...but I think I need one. You definitely know it’s upside down 2020 when the Chinese watches are not only great, but the brands are listening to customers??!! Take note big brands.

    I'm not the biggest fan of Sub homages myself though I do have a Steinhart OVM, but if I were to get a modern sub homage this is the one.

    I agree that submariner homages are getting a bit overdone these days. But San Martin are also now branching out a bit. They just released a Patek Philippe Nautilus homage, and it looks great.

    Steeldive is supposed to be very decent and it is half the price. My Steeldive SD1965 Oris homage turned into a very fast favourite for me. That said; I still want the San Martin. Why? I think that the biggest reason, believe it or not, is the bracelet's endlinks. They have them so right compared to the original. They're that teeny, tiny bit shorter than the length of the lugs. No other sub homage I've seen has got that bit right. I think it makes for a much better look and I bet it will sit that little bit better on the wrist for being made that way too. As if it had a slightly shorter lug to lug length.

      I have the Steeldive sub great watch but side by side against the SM you can see the SM is the better-finished watch!

    It's interesting....Like you I was never a Subby fan either. Just didn't get it. Then I bought a Steeldive Version without the date window, black, just out of curiosity. I have worn it and worn it and worn it. I now get it completely. It really is the one watch that you can wear with jeans and a T shirt....and in the evening with a Saville row suit. The size and dimensions are perfect. Masculine enough but refined enough too. I really don't need another black face diver....but I will certainly buy one of these. If you only have enough money for one watch this year.....this is the one I think. All the improvements comapred to the steeldive make it well worth it.

    Excellent video. Ignore the naysayers, the purposely this video was to be to cover the differences in the new version 3, there’s no need for removing the mummy wrap for that. I think you covered all the bases just fine! 👍.
    I could never fathom the SAN Martin brand name but the new hex logo looks great in my opinion. 😎

    This is not a sub homage because of too many discrepancies with the original.
    First; the bracelet is totally different, it is too thick, the clasp is a simple push button design and no divers extension provided. The only coincidence is the oyster style links.
    Now with the watch head; it is thicker and bulkier, there are sharp edges and the lug endpoints are pointy sharp that can tear your skin. The bezel is too tight, it has very white bold numbers and is miss aligned with the 12 triangle dial mark and a totally different lume pit. The dial has creamy indices that do not match hands color. The cyclops is miss aligned and magnification is distorted. The inner chapter is too tall and distracting so makes the watch seem bulky. Conclusion is that this watch is no homage sub, it rather is a Chinese overpriced diver’s beater. If you want a very good sub homage get a Sugess Seaman for even less money.
    Delivery took too long (70 days) and seller provided false delivery warranty of 15 days, a dispute was opened but of course neither the seller nor aliexpress offered acceptable help but “wait for arrival” and “get a 1 dll cupon”, shame on both.
    Too much fuzz on San Martin watches, they are nothing but cheap copies of real watches. Waste of good money.

    Not a huge fan of Rolex' chunky supercase that this one emulates, but it looks like one of the best homages out there when it comes to finishing and overall quality. The only gripe I have (other than the rather ungainly case-shape) is the text at the 6 oc, which would probably look better/more balanced with one or two lines added.

    Thank you for sharing this video. Seems great quality overall. Has anyone tried modding these? I wonder if the bezel insert for the skx007 will fit this bezel like it fits Pagani design sub.

    Not a fan of the logo from normal view it just looks like a small dot or snowflake I would like to see a stainless San Martin name or maybe even a small signature shark in stainless shine to match the watch, I love the watch other than that and may pass and hope for a change in the next version?

      Hi Ken
      Pretty much all the watches I've had, the double digits have been correctly aligned. Have you had any experience with watches that haven't been a correct fit?

    • @kenlperry
      @kenlperry 4 года назад +1

      @@TheWatcherReviews Thanks. Not necessarily incorrect alignment, but sometimes they don't look symmetrical in the window. I've seen where some look like there's a gap between the digits that is wider than it needs to be, etc.. Things like that.

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  4 года назад +1

      Must depend on the movement. Most of the watches I've done use seiko nh35 and no issues so far but I'll flick through date wheels to see if they're symmetrical. Im used to the NH35 so that's why I dont usually check for it lol

    It looks to me like something changed between the bezel insert and the sapphire as well - on my Gen 2, the bezel insert rises higher than the sapphire. It looks like the redesigned bezel may have changed the height of the insert (placing the insert lower down). Can you confirm if the Gen 3 sapphire is flush with/lower/higher than the bezel insert?

    Hi what watch do you have on your wrist? I have a San Martin diver 500m, great value. Considering maybe adding another. The watch on your wrist with the red light glinting off it is intriguing.

Terrific watches but I can't give a kinetic enough wrist time to justify. I am finding some Citizens to be a better value though. Glad I discovered your channel. Just subscribed. 🙂

    I think Pagani Design has that style of watch
    On Lock ,especially for the price of the Two.
    San Martin has better style on other watches but Pagani
    kick butt on this Subbie.
