Every time I look at a review of a San Martin, I only here positive comments. So they should really be very good considering their price. Great as usual review Ivan.
@@TheBoldHairspring I wish they would have worked on fixing it rather than just giving up on it. I mean, it seems that Cronos has one on their sub without too many issues.
@@TheBoldHairspring The first glidelock I had with my SN019 would slip even when engaged. They sent me a replacement, which works perfectly. Glad I got in there before they stopped making it, I use the glidelock feature A LOT.
@@taoistgoth that's promising tho. They listen to their customers and respond rapidly to live chats. If _we_ keep suggesting it - it will likely happen.
Hi Mark, San Martin released a couple of watches recently with a new "gliding clasp" which looks and seems to work fantastic. I'm sure we'll be able to purchase separately very soon.
Just gotta point out that this is a better looking piece than previous versions. Looks like the lugs are thinner and the bezel proportions are more classic, almost vintage (not contemporary)
I received my SN019-G last week and it too has a tight crown and was a bit concerned about that but as yours is the same, it has put my mind at ease. As it feels like rubber against rubber, it does feel extra water resistant and mine also runs at about 8 seconds per day. I’ll put a tiny bit of silicone grease on the crown stem to hopefully make the rubber against rubber a bit smoother.
Yes, it's not a big deal, but it does require some extra effort. Other than that, it's a really nice watch. The silicone grease may help. I never thought about it.
I do not know if this is what you mean but the PT-5000 movement is a "tight" movement meaning that the crown will take some effort to wind/turn. The is just like the original swiss ETA 2824 movement which it is a clone of. It is meant to be this way so all is perfectly fine .-)
I have the SN017 V3 which I think is fantastic! I nearly pulled the trigget on this in the sale but thought ( albeit pt5000 and 41mm ) id be wearing the same watch ..so opted for the new no date cronos sub. So at least there is variety in my collection. Im still tempted though!! Great review my friend!
I got my SN-019G with Selita movement, 2 months ago and I've been wearing it everyday. I really love the look, weight and feel of the Submariner-ish watch. I may end up purchasing one of their GMT Master homage models. The only thing that was the bezel edge is a little rough which can grip fabric or loved ones arms when hugging. Mine did not come with the new case, but the old black "sardine" case.
I bought the blue version sn019g several months ago. Unadjusted it has maintained 0/+2 seconds per day. My daily level of activity varies quite a bit, but has almost no effect on accuracy. I have several COSC Swiss watches with worse specs. Some reviewers say they don’t care about the accuracy, just the appearance. I disagree. This watch comes through with both.
I would only get this SN019 if it had a glidelock, or their new OTF clasp system + some half links. Their OTF clasp system is for 16mm bracelets (at clasp) and not 18mm, so not sure if they'll ever do it for the 18mm. In the end I went in two different directions - a Ginault Ocean-Rover II no-date/black for my "good" dressy watch, and some Steeldive SD1953's for some colorful (hulk, smurf, starbucks) sub homages. I love both for their uses. The Steeldive I am super impressed with. I like that it has the newer style Rolex 126610 lug profile vs the older chunkier 116610 lugs, yet it manages to stay at 20mm lug width. I also like that it has 6 microadjustments, which should be the standard for any oyster-style links where each individual link is relatively long (compared to jubilee, beads of rice, engineer style, and some h-link). If San Martin can improve the clasp situation on this piece, I'll again look at it. Until then, for me a 4-hole tool-based system just doesn't cut it.
I have just got the SN017-G green.Really like the watch but was bit concerned over how it was harder to screw the crown down. But now seeing that this is how it is ,also couple of other people have commented that theirs is the same. Will definitely keep the watch now)
I've had this watch since March 2021. I bought it with the SW200. Well, since it showed up, it's always ran about 10 seconds slow and has always been extremely hard to wind. Well, while winding it the other night, the crown broke. I took the case back off to pull the crown and stem out. While I had it opened, I also notice the hair spring adjustment has been all the way maxed out. So San Martin knew there was a problem with the movement but sent it out anyway. I got a hold of them and told them about the issues. Their response was, the movement is running within spec, we'll send you a new crown and stem.......I guess I'll replace the crown and stem and then take the watch to my watch maker and possibly replace the movement in it.
Hi, thanks for watching. The sn019 wears a bit bigger due to its larger lug to lug. The overall quality, fit and finish of the San Martin is better than the Kamasu. Even when you add the strapcode to it. However, the Kamasu has a very nice dial and I'd say a more reliable movement.
the cream color of the insert markers bother me. I bought the sn017 and to this day it is still in the plastic wrap due to this. It seems the 19 is the same, though the platinum numbers on the bezel help a bit
Hey, i have a question about the Silver engravings on the ceramic bezel. Do you know if that are silver painting or are they PVD coated? Is the coating on this ceramic bezels durable? Thanks. Great Videos 👍
Hi! Thanks for watching😊. To be honest I don't know but I guess they're just painted. However, due to being recessed they'll probably last a long time.
Nice watch but i wish they would make a safety locking clasp then it would be guaranteed not to fall off your wrist. Im buying a pt5000 tomorrow to take apart and see if it has enough oil on and to see the quality of it for a bit of fun!
@@TheBoldHairspring it will change positions if you're not careful but I've learned how to deal with it. I do really like their new clasp but I don't think it belongs on every watch they sell.
Hello, thank you for the video very informative. I can’t decide between this San Martin and the Cronos l6005. I like the Cronos due to the glidelock clasp and fully lumed bezel, but if the San Martin is subjectively better quality, I will choose that one. Please advise, thank you.
Hi sorry for replying so late! Some of the comments I receive I don't get notified. The quality of both watches is about the same. I believe the cronos has a slightly smaller case diamater which might be deciding factor. Just buy the one that looks better to you.
@@TheBoldHairspring No worries, Thank you for getting back to me. I ended up with the Cronos and the only thing I dislike is the proportions and overall look of it. In my opinion the lugs on the Cronos are a bit exaggerated and thicker than the super case sub 116610ln. Im not sure if I have tricked myself or thats the case but the cronos looks wider than the San Martin, Rolex, and other homages
Prices from AliExpress have risen considerably. ... £700 for the UK ... You can get a Stienhart ocean 1 black for £400 direct - a superior watch by far ...
I used to have a Steinhart ocean 1 42mm with a black ceramic bezel and I liked it very much. What I didn't like about it was that the markings on the bezel weren't engraved. They were glossy and didn't look nice. Also the magnification of the cyclops wasn't very good. Finally the clasp was very generic. However, Steinhart's customer service is excellent. I think for the sale's price of 270 eur the San Martin would be my choice. For 400 or so I'd be looking at OceanX though.
I have the same watch and Bracelet ,l also have the Cronos Rolex Submariner homage no date. Comparing the 2 watches, l prefer the no date Rolex submariner. So l prefer my Cronos, Lumes are the same, San Martin better case shape more like the Authentic Rolex Submariner. Cronos better sounding Bezel, Bezel sounds just like the Rolex submariner and the Omega Seamaster. Dial the Piano black dial on the San Martin is slightly better than the Cronos. So you thought the Rolex submariner was a boring watch. Rolex Submariner Stainless Black dial for many that would be there one watch collection. Rolex got that very right, its not until you try one on then you understand.
sorry ... I am late to the party. Love this watch, hate the logo. And unfortunately it was a deal breaker for me. its just not an elegant logo for a watch face.
I got one on the strength of this and other videos, and I wish I'd sprung for the Swiss movement and the dial without the obnoxious logo. The power reserve is crap, and, worse, the watch needs to be hand wound each day. Ordinary motion and/or shaking 30x (or more) only give an approximate 26 hrs, and that's coming off a full wind. Nice case and bracelet, Chinese movement junk.
Hi, I used to own a Steinhart Ocean one 42mm with an aluminium bezel insert and I liked it a lot. However, the San Martin has a better clasp and a slightly better fit and finish. Plus, it's significantly cheaper. One the other hand, the Steinahart comes with an ETA2824 or a Sellita SW200.
