I have the version with the "glide-lock" style clasp and I love it. It's one of the main reasons I purchased it. I've been very happy with it overall. The PT5000 movement has been excellent.
My one complaint is that my bezel not only has back-play, but actually fully slips backwards in certain positions. Poor QA from San Martin in my opinion. But overall, it's a nice watch.

Looks very good, I'd personally get the older one as its smaller but looks like the subtle tweaks have improved things somewhat.

Great pics Rob. We just don’t need to buy expensive watches to have fun with this hobby.

My 019 is in the mail as I text. I hope it has the glide lock system and logo protruding slightly over the safety clasp(Rolex design) as this is an obvious upgrade to micro adjustments. I’m sure I will be happy with either clasp but I wonder if SM was having QC issues with the glide lock system? And chose to address it with the tried and true micro adjust clasp?

My only complaint is the end links; they protrude too much. A glidelock would have been nice but i dont mind too much. The bezel (not the insert) looks much better on this version.

Great review! I have the SN017 V3 which im very impressted with. Ive pondered on getting this one as well but heard lots of reviewers preferring the Cronos version. Ive pulled the trigger on the new no date cronos version so at least something a little different and a good deal in the 11/11 sale ( I hope )

Im considering the cronos no date. How do you like it so far? How has the pt5000 been?

San Martin need to fix the variety of logos they have on the same watch. For the price, there is no more room for being understanding. Thx for the review !

I'm thinking SM and others that are cloning the glidelock on the Rolex could be in trouble since the Rolex gridlock is proprietary or they are having issues perfecting it. I have the one with the glide lock with the SM hexagon logo and the shark on the crown no problems with it, this is the best design in my opinion. I think the SM clasp is very good I have it on the Explorer homage, but is not as good as glidelock. Once you go Glidelock there is no way back.

I think San Martin may have had some quality control issues with the previous glide-lock style clasp. I own the previous version with this style clasp and it wouldn't stay in the chosen setting when taking off the watch. I saw other owners had posted this problem on RUclips reviews of the watch. I had to go back and forth in communications with San Martin to finally get a replacement clasp. The replacement works fine on mine now.

Looks like a nice watch, but pricing seems to go up every time I look. 350+ euro for an AliExpress homage with basically zero after service possibilities is a bit steep. Thanks for the video.

I think the clasp from SN017 V3 wasnt broken, but the link thickness and sharpness was broken. Secondly, their attempt a gliding style clasp on SN019 many reported as not working correctly/coming loose too easily... And it seems on the updated Sn019, they have reverted BACK to the older thicker links, which is a big downside for me as it makes the watch too bulky i feel.

I got the SN019-G with the glidelock, and I had to get a couple of replacements before I got a clasp that didn't slip. Glad I persisted though, the one I have now works really well. A shame they discontinued it but I guess they couldn't make them with a high enough yield. My only gripe is the bezel numerals on mine are really not very bright and in anything but bright light I can hardly see them.

I agree with what you said about the new clasp. I too prefer the older glidelock style.

Nice watch, but I will only buy another watch with on the fly adjustment. I could fit a Strapcode ratchet clasp as I have on my RLG watch but it’s a pain because the type of link that’s needed is not as provided on the bracelets, you have to modify things and drill out holes. I can’t be bothered doing that again.

I have the watch with the glide-lock system in the clasp. My one always makes problems and I know that I am not the only one. Therefor I think San Martin changed the clasp. I´ll get one from San Martin and I do not have to pay for it.

The clasp in this video is by far better than the glide-lock clasp which is an absolutely cheap made crap because it opens from self. The new one works better and more comfortable as the original Rolex Submariner clasp.

Thank you for the review. How big is the difference between standard black dial on SN017g v3 vs enamel black on SN019g? Are there are improvements apart from the movement? San Martin presents SN019g as an upgraded version. However, in the reviews I mostly hear about the size difference and movement, rather than quality upgrade.

I just read that San Martin might be able to customize the dial logo on some watches. Could they just script San Martin instead of the acorn? Perhaps at extra cost?

Hello. I am interested in buying the new version of the two San Martin that you teach. Do you think it is a watch that is worth buying for what it costs? Which is about € 250 with a discount. All the best.

I’ve been looking at this watch also I understand you can pay a little extra money and get an even more substantial movement for it. I have large hands and a large wrist I wish I could get this watch in a 42 mm at least,,,you seem to know a lot about watches what do you know about the Longines hydro conquest 44 mm quartz watch??? I have a chance to buy one that is about a year or so old It has a few light scratches how ever overall it appears to be in pretty good condition they wanted US$640 I believe I’ve got them down to somewhere between $US 500 US$530 do you think this is a bargain or a rip off??? and if you need extra links for a watch like the Longines would you be able to purchase them additionally??? I don’t know if I would however I was wondering about The availability of extra links if needed,,, do you think I would be better served buying the watch you’re reviewing today or the used Longines???

I have just Cancelled my order to SN-0019 when i found out it came with this clasp .
Honestly i need the watch because it looks like rolex.
The whole deal is broken without glide lock.
This is the ugliest clasp i ever seen.

    • @MarkoMarkovina

Actually that new clasp works much better than glidelock... I don't see how that could be a deal breaker?! You can buy glidelock clasp only of good quality for few bucks and just change it

  • @johnsweeney5946

If San Martin would come up with a glidelock that works and would just get rid of that hideous acorn on the dial. I'd buy the 41 MM. As things are it's Cronos here I come.

They are very over priced for a Chinese micro company with zero customer care and very poor quality control, plus zero brand equity. I bought a Swiss made, Swiss movement Steinhart ocean one for the same price. A far better watch in my opinion
