@@memento81 Being a writer who goes to an office every day doesn't mean you have great equipment at home, because you leave work at work. The only people I know who have equipment at home are technicians or actors who do voice acting and set up their own mini recording studio. Sound is actually a really complex art and science and there's a reason not a lot of schools even teach it as an area of focus because it's so complex.

"WHAT IF...?" somebody invented a call-in live-interaction voting system, like the old 1-888-25-cents-a-vote things, that the numbers couldn't be hacked by trolls or bots ... yeh, no chance of that.
Regardless of the technical issues, which are not even an issues in the grand scheme of things, it’s great just to see everyone back on screen. It helps to have the routine now that we’ve entered bizarro land.

As a child growing up in a very musical family I was in a bar at the age of 4 or 5 while my uncle performed and my dad mixed sound, and that was WITH OUT extenuating circumstances. I was WANTED there because you know the truth is musicians like performing for an appreciative audience and there is NOTHING like a child for uninhibited enjoyment...
And while boundaries are important, these ARE extenuating circumstances, those who will fair best in these times are those who can remain flexible without falling apart.

Favorite bit from the show, seeing them do it lowkey while cracking meta-jokes (“Wonder if these are landing as well as they would on the actual show”) is even better

Amber's "joke" about how all Black people vote is exactly why we need to reinstate the voting rights act. It's so messed up that we continue to tolerate a system where the poor and people of color can be deprived of their rights to vote simply because one party doesn't want them voting and the other party doesn't care.
It would also help if we overturned Citizens United, because that's how conservative politicians are able to get so much damn money for their campaigns from corporations since they are considered 'people'. Which is super messed up.
How blacks vote in some states. This isn't true in California.
But black people voted for Biden so they aren't paying attention any more than white voters.
Why do we (me included) sometimes just fall in with the status quo... it's disgusting & sad

While I love you, Seth, and I am so grateful you are still giving us content in the midst of all of this, I have some tips that might help. Try using earbuds with a mic or airpods when recording these. You'll get better sound quality than your computer mic. If you can move into a smaller room, it can help with echos.
I seriously appreciate the effort you're putting in. These videos give me a sense of normalcy in the midst of all this! Can't wait to see tomorrow's closer look!

I'm kind of curious about the reasons that the hallway was the best place to record from... Just seems like sonically bad. But it's appreciated nonetheless, reverb or not.

All of the late night hosts are doing such a great job; it's so impressive and I'm incredibly grateful! We need the laughs now possibly more than ever, which is *really* saying something these days. Something about Seth's style is perfectly suited to this setup; I'm loving it! And even if I wasn't a fan, I would have been 100% hooked by that opening with Fred Armisen and The 8G band and some kids on a sofa... The sound and video quality are honestly are not a big deal to begin with (for me, anyway), and this has been fantastic~ I'm really looking forward to more!!

I'm an audio engineer in NYC, I'll come over in a Hazmat suit to fix your audio and video mess. 2 Easy steps:
Soften your light source, put a shower curtain over the light or window.
Use an additional small audio recorder (Tascam) or app (Easy Voice Recorder), your editors will put the audio and video together.
Question: would that app work for recording all audio? I'm working on making videos myself but I wanna make sure I have my audio sounding proper.

This segment is my absolute favorite!! Thank you for continuing to make me laugh during this isolation!
I used to sound like that when I was on conference calls with hard floors and empty walls, the reverb is extreme. I solved it at no cost though. I relocated a free-standing coat rack from the hallway into my office and it has a bunch of clothing hanging on it. It's not visible on-camera and isn't in the way, but it soaks up all the sound bouncing around the walls and transformed my audio.
They’re all so cute. Seth, the band, the writers. I was worried when I didn’t see Seth start with the other hosts last week, but it was worth the wait. Imo Seth’s monologue style works best compared to the others in this new format. He always has that look where he pauses and looks at the camera for a moment anyways, so it’s not too awkward that he’s doing it without an audience anyways. But please Seth, get some headphones or record using your phone on airplane mode bro 😂 but you asked for us to be patient, so I’ll wait

Working the kinks out or not working the kinks out, this has become a highlight of the day between buried in school work and trying not to get frustrated because as a nurse who is on chemo... I can't do anything to help NYC... yet.
